Mel's Drive-In (quick breakfast)
DH & Myself - Biscuit w/ Sausage Gravy 2@ $3.99 ea.
Niece - Sausage & Egg Biscuit w/ Hash Brown $4.99
DS - Bacon & Egg Biscuit w/ Hash Browns $4.99
Total w/ drinks & AAA discount $25.72
We stopped by here hoping for a quick breakfast. What we got was total confusion and horrible food.
After several tries, they still didn't get our order right. The biscuits were the hardest I've ever had, and the gravy tasted like very bad prepackaged gravy. We left here as hungry as when we arrived. The good thing about choosing this location was while we were eating, the characters came out in forces. We were able to step outside and get photos w/ Scobby & Shaggy, and Curious George. The Rugrats and Wild Thornberrys rode by, but didn't stop.
Tchoup-Chop @7pm (no wait)
DH - Braised Kobe Beef Short Ribs $19.00
Me - "Hawaiian Style" Half Chicken $22.00
Niece - Shrimp Alfredo $13.00
DS - Kid's Burger $10
For Dessert:
DH - Banana Cheesecake $7.00
Me - Macadamia Nut Pie $6.00
Niece - Choc., Choc. Cake A La Mode $8.50
DS - Banana Pudding $5.50
Total: $97.45
This restaurant was a HUGE disappointment. We love Emeril's, and were expecting something fabulous. In our opinion, it wasn't even good.
We took nice clothes to wear here, but decided that it was so hot we would wear nice shorts instead. We didn't feel the least bit underdressed. There was as many people dressed in shorts as slacks or dresses. The decor in this restaurant also didn't meet my expectations. The water features were very nice, but I think that given the space and Emeril's resources, even I could do much better. IMO, the light fixtures and other decor were tacky and definitely were not up to par with a fine dining establishment. Again IMO, with the decor, nice shorts are dressy enough. I was kind of hoping to be underdressed. I was hoping it would be a place to get dressed up, but still be able to take the kids.
Now the food... My DH said his meal was fine. (Fine is not the response I expect for an Emeril's restaurant.) Everyone else had pretty much the same response. My chicken was o.k., but instead of coming with macaroni salad and slaw as is listed in the menus on wdisneyw, it came with a sweet potato tart. At least that's what I recall it being. Whatever it was, it wasn't very good at all. The steamed Kale (I think that's what it was) was very good. As for our desserts, my Niece's cake was good, but was so rich that all 4 of us could have shared it. My DS did not like his pudding, but I can't vouch for it because I didn't try it. DH's Banana Cheesecake was by far the worst of the desserts. Fortunately for me, my Macadamia Nut pie was great, but tasted very much like pecan pie. We'll be sticking with Emeril's at Citywalk from now on.

The Sunset Grill (breakfast)
DH, DS, & myself all had the buffet 2@$13.95, 1@$7.50
Niece - Home fries $2.95
Total $40.42
This was a reasonable price for a buffet breakfast, considering that we were a captive audience. The price also included our drinks. This is much more reasonable than WDW, but also IMO was not of the same quality as many of theirs are. The Cheese Blintz & Cheese Danishes were both very good. The eggs and most everything else were typical. The bacon, however, was very hard. (not crispy, hard) They had a nice selection of fruits and cereals. FYI, there is no biscuits or gravy. We will probably go here again.
That's it! Sorry mostly negative, but as I mentioned in an earlier report, we were very disappointed with the food as a whole. Of course, this was just our opinions, hopefully you'll soon get a chance to form your own.
