July 16, 2016 Disney Fantasy, Eastern Caribbean

On our July 2014 cruise, we encountered it at Castaway Cay. I bought Safe Sea lotion off of Amazon, which worked really well. The only problem was I didn't think to put it under the bathing suit and that is where my son felt the little stings. Once he washed off he was fine, but it was not pleasant for him. This year, I know that we need to apply it everywhere!
Never knew about this!!! One of my kids probably had this a couple times and we just thought he was over reacting to the salt water. I heard from a veteran surfer that one of the best things for all rashes and such is Prep H - wonder if that would help after.

My son was better after he rinsed off and it didn't bother him after that. The lotion definitely helped in the areas where I applied it. Without it, I'm not sure he would go in the water since he knows about the sea lice now. Castaway Cay is so much fun and I'd rather slather them with the lotion than have them miss all the fun!

I just bought Safe Sea lotion for me and my family to use at Castaway Cay. I don't know if we'll need it but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

I'm going through my shopping lists (I just bought my 14 yo DS a jacket and dress pants for formal night - I know he'll love me forever for that :D) and I'm thinking I may be adding Safe Sea to my Amazon list...

Sea Lice - been to CC 11 times now (tw0 sailings had 2 stops) and we have not had any issues for what its worth and have not used anything. That being said, better safe than sorry as we are likely not the brightest bulb.
O.K. just bought some on Amazon, got the pump spray bottles. Figured the discussion here if I didn't I would be kicking myself of one of got this crud, other than FSIL that is :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Preparation H soothes itching so would make sense. Steroid creams help too. Your son may have been exposed to a variant of it, mild cases are common throughout the Caribbean and Safe Sea may be good insurance.

How do towels work for the ports? Do you just take your room towel? Should we bring beach towels?
If it's a Disney excursion they will have them available to take either at your meeting place or as you leave the ship. Non Disney you can grab off the pool deck. I can't remember if you can grab them leaving the ship if non Disney. But definitely you can take them!

Has anyone visited St. Thomas before? I was wondering if the Skyride to Paradise Point is within walking distance to the ship? We are planning a lazy day of walking around (doing the butterflies, too) and thought it might be something fun to do if it is close.

Now I'm wondering if I should buy some!!

I would definitely buy it. On our last trip to Castaway Cay, my kids were stung, and so many other kids were getting stung. You can't see them, so it looks like the kids are just crying over nothing. The red bumps are visible later.

The tram ride is across the street boat, if we dock. If we tender, I seem to recall being tendered into Charlotte Amalie.

Charlotte Amalie is the main town. It's visible from the boat - maybe 1/2 mile? I would think u could walk, and there are plenty of cabs.

If we dock, across from the boat is a small mall called Haversham Mall. It has small stores typical of the Caribbean - souvenirs, jewelry, cameras ... it's not that great, but it's not awful either.

Is it too late to get in on the FE group? This is our first cruise and it was only a day ago that I even heard of FE.

FISH EXTENDER LISTS-(CLOSED)
Please PM me or post on the thread if you would like to join a FE group!! I need to know cabin number and who is in the cabin including age and gender of children. Please also note any allergies or special occasions. We will limit to 10 families per group to keep lists and gift giving manageable with travel. If you have more than one cabin, let us know if each cabin will have its own FE (and give its own gift) or just one to share. We will close lists as we hit 10 families. If you would like to join more than one list, you are totally welcome to do that! Rules are otherwise open, you can give a cabin gift or one per person and can deliver any day of your choice during the cruise(one time). Finally if your plans change and you will no longer be cruising or doing FE please post or PM asap so we can remove you and keep lists accurate! Thank you!

****FISH EXTENDER LISTS ARE NOW CLOSED! Anyone wanting to join as of today 6/6/15 will be placed on a pixie dust list. If anyone from the other groups has extra gifts they can give and the pixie dusters can exchange with each other.
