I've been enjoying this too!!

My Magic express tags for our two nights at art of animation arrived yesterday as well as finally our cruise books. Magic bands came the other day. Starting to feel real!

Very late to the party! But my DH and I will meet at Bon Voyage for sure! (Well, me at least!)

One time on a cruise meet I suggested everyone post simple information about themselves (discrete) to get to know each other better.

I can go first, and hey, if it's not your cup of tea, don't post!

2 almost grown kids -
DD, 17, soon to be high school senior
DS, 20, goes to Univ. of North Dakota. We only see them at dinner.

We live in the Twin Cities, we grew up in LA (hey there Valencia and Saugus ... we lived there once! My MIL lives in Santa C.)

On this cruise, we are celebrating finally becoming Platinum! And we are DVCers.

I am working on my FE gifts. Looking online and I'm finding sundae topping gifts. Does anyone know if the icecream bar still does not provide toppings??

I've never seen any toppings, just the soft serve machines

i'm at that stage with my gifts that i'm looking at it all and thinking a) have I done okay, are they stupid, is it enough, is it too much.... blah! and b) how in the world am I packing all this??

I'm still stuck for a gift for the tween/teen boys... My son hasn't been much help (reminding him not everyone has an Xbox One/360/Playstation/Wii U/etc... And I'm not buying every boy a video game of their choice!). We're taking a separate suitcase for the FE gifts (at least we drive to the Port). At least I'll have room coming back for all the stuff I buy on the ship...

24 more days - yay!! Still no cabin number - boo....

I have my coffee card and plan on spending one day at sea (well, a couple of hours, at least), just hanging around in that area.

Hey experienced cruisers - a lanyard question! Does everyone carry their key card around everywhere on the ship? is it always on a lanyard? Would it be cool for me to buy my family all their own lanyards in advance, so we all have unique ones? I've seen some nice ones on ebay, cheaper than the 'official' parks type ones the Disney store has... what are your thoughts and opinions? Thanks!

Hey PollyBrit... Everyone in my family always has their lanyard with their key to the world on them. You need it for everything, including getting in your room.

DCL gives you lanyards when u check in. They are sturdy and comfortable and a good place to display pins. The holder for you key to the world card also has enough room for. Folded up navigator.

Good ole Saugus!! I lived in Valencia right off Wiley and Lyons but we moved to riverside for my husband job and I'd give anything to go back to SCV lol its so funny people can't wait to get out of there and then once they leave they want to come back

We lived in Newhall during the Northridge quake and our apartment building ended up being "red tagged" (condemned) from the damage. I don't have the fondest memories of all of that, but I still think of Chis Chis PIZa and Chuys fondly!

I thought it was only returners too. We didn't get them our first cruise but got silver ones last time

I had to call DCL for something else so I asked them and they said you get a lanyard for second and subsequent cruises, but not for the first cruise

Has anyone been to these islands before? Wondering if we will find things to do without excursions? Also, is it usually possible to just wait and book them on the ship if we mostly want to do beach and maybe snorkel stuff?

I haven't been to Tortola, but in St Thomas the beaches are pretty far from the boat. A shore excursion

Wow, I don't remember, but I am "kind of" positive they give them to everyone. And yes, one for each person. That's for sure. They are really nice, stand up to a lot of abuse, and also have tear away Velcro if u can't put it over ur head.

Maybe someone else remembers if first timers get them?

My parents house was a mess during the quake! Chi chis is the best!!! Thanks now I'm craving chi chis hahaha

We just took my mom on her first cruise and she did not get one. But they did give my sister her Silver one and my daughter her Gold one (they were all in one room). So, I don't believe first time cruisers get one. However, if you are a DVC member and you get to the terminal early enough, they have CMs handing DVC lanyards out.
