JonBenet Ramsey - a question for those who follow this story

I have to say, I have not followed this case too closely but from what I observed from Dr. Phil's interviews with Burke, Burke seems to have a little autism going on. Maybe Asperger's? That could explain a lot about how detached he seems from all of it. People with Asperger's have trouble making eye contact when talking to another person.

TC :cool1:

They've never explained he has autism or Asperger's, don't we have the right to know that?

Too bad, he's weird, musta done it.

According to Lou Smit there was debris on the floor beneath the window http://www.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0105/28/lkl.00.html

SMIT: That's the window. Now, again, that picture that you see is the first photograph taken of that window after the crime scene technicians got back into the house. Now, later on, I believe that it was noted that this window may have been opened even by John Ramsey and Fleet White. But what that window did show us, when we first seen it, was that entry could have been made there. There was a scuff mark down the wall. There was leaves and debris on the floor, directly below that open window.

And when we looked at photographs of the window well that leads into that window, we've also seen evidence of recent disturbance. There is also foliage under the grate that covers this window well, which would indicate that someone may have opened and shut the grate. There is also disturbance on the windowsill of the middle window only, not the other two windows.

Don't go bringing facts into this. Let's be sure to focus on the important stuff that tells us what really happened. How do you feel about the case? What's your hunch? What do you believe? Is the family odd?

I forgot my favorite part of the CBS show. Stun guns and tasers don't immobilize people, they energize them. Someone better let police around the world know about this.

Seriously? What kind of talking head put that idea forward?

Just for fun, if the family did it, where is the stun gun? Wouldn't they have had to leave "footprints in the snow" to get it out of the house before calling the police? Why would they have needed to stun her to do anything? Weren't they the only ones in the house? So what if she kicked up a fuss or cried out, who would have known but them?

Sorry, for the detour into logic. I'll sit back down and wait to hear what my gut tells me.

They're saying that Lou Smith was wrong about the stun gun theory. They think the marks were made by the brother poking her with a toy train track. Because of course a stun gun would point to someone outside the family.

I get it, if you want to make an intruder theory more unlikely you add the detail that a stun gun would actually make an intruder's job harder because it would energize someone. Must cherry pick evidence properly to make case airtight, that is how cases are solved after all.

Based on the pineapple and the flashlight, they would have left the stun gun sitting out right there for the police to find. They probably would have used their own note pad to draw a big arrow pointing to the stun gun that said, "This weapon was used to torture JBR."

Exactly!

How will we explain this bowl of pineapple?

No, clue. Maybe we should put it down the garbage disposal and put the bowl in the dishwasher to remove all evidence.

No! Even better, let it sit there and we can pretend like we don't know where it came from.

Excellent idea! Oh, and hey, what about the flashlight that Burke used to bash her over the head. Should we hide it in the house? Take it out in the woods and try to bury it?

No, I've got a brilliant idea. Leave it right there on the countertop!

And instead of doing either of those things why don't one of us fashion a weird garrote with fancy knots and stick a paint brush up our dead kid's vava!

Exactly! Makes no sense its the parents.

Now I want to know, why did the family have a stun gun? I can't think they felt particularly insecure with the lax security measures of the home. They must have been planning the murder for a while. Maybe they used it on the kids as discipline. Maybe they used it on her for some sick fetish. It's weird that if they'd used it before they were unaware it would energize her.

The mind reels.

Funny, I just realized from the link msjprincess gave above that one of the talking heads in this program was Warner Spitz. I mentioned his son's "work" earlier in this thread. He's the medical examiner, or was, for a county in metro Detroit where he missed a bullet in a body from a victim who was found after being missing for a while. I don't think that case was ever solved.

Also something that keeps jumping out...if Burke killed her wouldn't all the ligature marks on her neck be obviously post-mortem. Wouldn't a forensic specialist be able to determine if the injuries were sustained antimortem vs post-mortem. I just think the whole burke killing parents covering up is so off the wall even based on the evidence presented by people who want that to be the way it went down.

I just had a hard time with the CBS show as a whole. Pretty early on they are sitting there discussing the 911 call like they are the first people ever to "discover" those possible voices in the static. And they then say "Well that sounds like John, that sounds like Burke." Even though they have disagreement on exactly what is being said, they apparently can state with no further discussion at all WHO is saying it. Because to their ears that is what it sounds like.

In case something has changed in recent years that I've never heard about - In reality, scientific testing on the call is pretty standard for everything else in this case. It was sent off to several places...FBI, independent labs etc. Some of the experts thought they picked up background voices, others said they simply didn't have a solid enough recording to state that as a conclusion. But CBS totally neglects to mention there's disagreement there. It's just that group sitting in that room with headphones making their "new discovery."

Bonus points for the lady with the Scottish accent though. It gave a real Scotland Yard feel to the whole thing.

My youngest DS did not want anyone to know about his Asperger's. He didn't want anyone thinking there was something wrong with him so I respected his feelings about it. It certainly didn't affect his ability to achieve as he graduated college and is currently attending grad school. Maybe Burke is the same way. It really is no one's business but it would certainly explain why he acts the way he does.

I think @cabanafrau was being facetious.
Probably most would agree that it's no one's business.

I'm one who does not believe the family was involved in any way, shape, or form, but I do find the pineapple...odd? One of the explanations that makes the most sense to me is that JBR actually ate it much earlier in the day (before they left for the party). Apparently one of the medical examiners feels it could have been eaten that early. The other medical examiner felt it was eaten shortly before death which is weird to me. Did she sneak down and eat pineapple and come across a person in the house who killed her? That seems like a stretch especially if that person was just there to rob the place and next thing you know there is this whole "kidnapping" thing. Did the murderer wake her up, take her downstairs and feed her, and then kill her? Strange!
Now, if she ate it at 4pm that afternoon before the party, it makes total sense.

There are so many "experts" who completely disagree with one another. "It's completely impossible for the pineapple to have been eaten that early." "It absolutely could have been eaten that early in the day." Okay then.
I think the mom or brother accidentally killed Jon Benet (still child abuse) The foreign DNA could easily be explained as part of John Ramsey's cover up suppose they knew they needed DNA to take the suspicion off their family John could have put on gloves gone to the nearest public rest room rubbed the gloves on the men's room toilet came home and touched Jon benet's clothing voila foreign male DNA on her clothing!!!

I agree, it's a potential explanation for what many describe as "odd" behavior. It's not our business. If true IMO it takes even more away from the idea that a nine year old did this and doesn't say much for a public ready to proclaim someone guilty for being "odd".

I wanna know where his footprints in the snow went?
