Jon & Kate plus 8 budget?

It is my understanding they did IUI and not IVF.
Oh, ok! Thank you for the correction!

Regardless, though, I think we may be unfairly putting blame on J&K alone. Their infertility doc had a part in the conception of the 6 children and if they were advised that allowing the chance to have 6/7 babies at once was fine, they were severely misinformed. It's not healthy, for the mother nor the babies. I believe the doc was irresposible for allowing 6 eggs to implant when there are ways to prevent that.

I think most people with an infertility background would guess that Kate overstimmed, had too many mature follies and the doctor cancelled her IUI and told them to abstain. They probably babydanced anyway and voila, six babies. The doctor does not have control over what you do in your bedroom. I don't care what they get for free now, I am just appalled at her sense of entitlement before this big gravy train called TLC rolled into the station.

Not going to go back and read 17 pages of the thread to see if it's been mentioned, but friends of our were in Disney less than 2 months ago and ran in to the 10 of them. Hopefully if they filmed it they'll show more WDW this time. I would love to see a full show of that with details (like seeing them get the bill for a CS meal for 10!);)

you might see Jon pay .. but if it's on the show, it's not coming out of his pocket. And they won't eat fast food, either ~ in an interview on the Bonnie Hunt Show, Kate said the kids don't like it. (even though they've been seen enjoying fast food on the show)

I completely agree!!! She prob over stimmed...MD prob canceled IUI and they went home and did the deed and ended up with all the babies. No fertility MD in their right mind would do a IUI will all those follies!!!!

I can speak to this because I have done several IUI's and IVF.

Okay, I don't know anything about IUI or IVF, I had my kids the good ole fashion way, thank god! Anyway, I read Kate's book and she mentions in it that she had three follicles when they did the insimination. (Or whatever you call it) I guess I don't understand how you can go from three to seven. (Her first ultrasound there were seven babies.) Don't you know how many there will be upfront, before you insimiate? Those of you with the IUI experience, can you explain this to me?

babydanced .

:rotfl: Babydanced -what a great word! Thank you for the laugh I am enjoying from your word play. Totally off topic but another great word I read here on the boards was the term "power-surges" when someone was discussing hot flashes.

About the house , to my knowledge yes they are in a big house and with a pool but i think it is in NC as she wanted to move to a nicer weather .
As far as the free stuff well hey if someone offered it to me i sure wouldn't be the one to pass it down, i have been very poor at times and others just getting by and now well we have to budget to have extra money.
She is putting her kids on television and her and hubbies lives i think that they deserve to get paid .they also are advertising for these places
I don't think anybody can dis it until they walk in there shoes .
About the iui , which is what they did have there was supposedly only follies put in so they probably did do the deed during that time as they dont have andy that are identical

I would think that is not entirely true (that there were three follicles). Unless some of the children were identical twins (which I don't think any of them are) there would have to have been at least 6 follicles. Even if there were two sets of identicals within the 6 children she still would have four follicles which should probably be a concern for an infertility dr.

My guess is the cycle was cancelled and they did the did anyways or they went out of their way to find an irresponsible dr who went ahead w/ the cycle anyways.

I really don't mind all the free stuff they get-hey, if anything I'm jealous. I just don't like the way they act like they were so shocked that they had sextuplets.

I don't know about you guys, but I was a very loyal J&K viewer for quite some time. Then one night I (thought) Kate was just showing us how she shampoos the little girls hair... when I noticed that she set the shampoo down on the counter, and THEN, she reached back and turned it so that the label faced the camera, and you could suddenly tell that it was Johnson & Johnson's No Tear Shampoo. She went on to say something about how it was so great because their hair tangles a lot. I paused the live show, re-wound, and watched it over and over in disbelief. I was surprised and disgusted... but I continued to watch more episodes! It felt like all of the sudden they were endorsing Rose Petal Cottages, remote control cars, video game systems, etc. To me, this is far different from all the free trips they take to zoos, theatres, Disney, American Girl store, ski lodges, etc. A free trip doesn't shock me. But the product placement really caught me off-guard, I guess. I think I blame TLC and the advertisers for this, though, rather than Jon and Kate. TLC had an awesome show until they injected tacky product placements into every episode. I admit that I watch from time to time now, simply to gawk.

I was just going to say the same thing, If god gave them that many then she would not have need drugs to help her get praganet.

hello..who do you think gave them the drugs. please tell me you think we evolved from monkeys in order to learn to make drugs to get pg:rotfl2:

.....from a college educated chemist, I see GOD everyday, no way this all spontaneously occurs...

thank GOD for giving us Walt Disney, too.:goodvibes

have to spread the word, whether you want to hear it or not. still love JK+8. Oh, and the budget, I don't think they have to anymore, although I am sure they are preparing for their future, they are smart enough to know their 5 minutes will not last forever..

I don't agree with any of the show.
So I will not watch.
The parents are bottom line the responsible ones.
Not the network, they could have said no to things
such as product placement.

But doesn't it irritate anyone that these people intentionally had children that would have special needs, when they could have had healthy babies that didn't need to be on welfare? They chose to have a litter of kids, so why did everyone else in their state have to pay?

Not very politically correct of me, I know, but I really don't see why anyone would choose to have this many children at once.

I agree! Have as many children as you want, but don't except the government to pick up the tab. And, yes, they could have reduced the number of fetuses. So it was their choice.

I know I could never have an abortion or selectively reduce. I underwent testing for PCOS (what Kate has) this summer, and my results are inconclusive. While I adore DS to the moon and back, I may not be able to have biological children without technology. If it turned out I was preggo with sextuplets, I would leave the rest to God. If He meant for me to have six babies, I would have six babies.

I have a feeling that's what Kate was thinking, as well. I know I could never, ever pick and choose which of my children got the chance to live.

But it's still a personal CHOICE.

:sad2:
Please watch the show and reply back with which one you could eliminate. Honestly. Sorry to hijack, but this was out of line, and needed to be squashed. JK did not intend on having this many children, GOD gave them this many!! As the daughter of a 14-year old, unmarried pregnant girl back in 1972 (legal RvW), I count my blessings for being alive, and will not even begin a debate on abortion, because I will never stop. Just please, watch the show a few times, and think about it really hard. Life is precious, how can we treat it like it is nothing?

As for Kate, I think she is brilliant. Rather than selectively killing a child or 2, she accepted GOD's gift for her and Jon. I am sure when JK prayed for GOD's will, and asked for his provision, they couldn't have possibly imagined the BLESSINGS they are getting now:yay:

I know from all of my budgeting for this crazily addictive little mouse, there is no way they could do it for their children without this show. All of the other things they get to experience with their children would never happen without it. My hat is off to all of the parents of large multiples. I have a hard enough time clothing, feeding, and entertaining (DISNEY) 2 kids, well 3 including myself! I think the product placement/kickbacks are way better than watching commercials. The products are shown in use over a longer period of time. I love watching the kids get their coats, and seeing all the different colors. In the real world, which girl would get the new coat, cause somebody's getting the twins hand me downs. I can bet they are giving all the old clothes/toys to charity, and not wasting their time with yard sales.

Whenever I hear someone complain about exploitation, I do wonder if it is a little true. Then, I think of a life at home with 8 kids:headache:
I would feel sad knowing they didn't get to experience mickey... But, wait, I'm 35 and haven't been to Hawaii yet:confused3 I can't imagine saving up to take 8 kids. I think as long as the kids want to do it, they should stay on. My kids and I love the show, and it is a much better alternative than anything else they are putting on these days, besides Disney channel, of course.:goodvibes

No, "god" didn't give them this many kids, a medical procedure did, and another medical procedure could have reduced the number of fetuses, that is FACT, not personal belief. Good grief.

Kathee

Thank you for that! I totally agree. I don't think anyone sets out to have that many children. I experienced infertility issues, and easily could have ended up with 2 or 3 on the drug I was taking. However, God chose to bless me with just one. When you are undergoing infertility issues, you yearn for just one child. If God chooses to give you more than one, you accept that as a blessing as well.
Back on the Medicaid thing. . . J & K worked jobs and paid taxes before this all started. My question to those blasting them is. . . what if you found yourself in a medical situation after working and paying taxes. Isn't that what the system is for? I don't for one minute condemn them for allowing their children to get the same medical care for the same cost as many people who've never worked and paid into the system.

Ok, this is going to get into a religious debate, and I don't think that is necessary. However, I KNOW that God gave me my children and I believe he knows every child, embryo, fetus, whatever before they are even born and loves them. Yes, science did help, but God made it possible.

Why not? Just because someone(s) think that "god" did this, when those of us use science and fact? :confused3

So with eight kids to provide for, save for college, weddings, health issues-all on one income, in a failing economy with a house you are rapidly outgrowing you wouldn't take the extra check from J&J or Fisher Price? I would so I could sleep at night. Its not like they are promoting global warming or alcohol.

It's one thing to take the check because you are in dire needs. It is another to sell out your kids. Historically, child stars do not look fondly on their childhoods and have problems as adults. And I believe these kids are now child stars. I couldn't sleep at night thinking about that.
