Has Jon completly quit his computer job? On the series this year he doesnt ever seem to leave for work anymore. On the one about the kids going to preschool. He acted like they both drove them ever day and hung out for 3 hours. I would love to see their budget ideas for their family. You know the Duggers talk about their thriftness all the time, but the Gosselins seem to not really have a tight household budget. I know their making money from their TV series, but is TLC paying for everything they do, including the preschool, fuel for that big van and all the organic food they can eat?

Maybe the salary they earn from the show is enough to support them. That wouldn't really surprise me. I'm sure they get paid really well to have their home life constantly broadcast. :)

I think they make a lot of money from the show and get paid for appearances. Most of the stuff on the show is product placement so they're getting lots of freebies too. They also just put out a book. Pretty sure neither one of them is working anymore and now consider the show their job.

If I remember correctly last year he started working from home so he could have more time with the family.

Yeah I remember not long ago watching an episode where he changed jobs to a position where he pretty much makes his own hours.

With all the free stuff, show payment, love offerings(:rolleyes1 ),free house and consignment and yard sale money. Who needs to work, I hope they put away money for therapy for when the kids get older. And by the way whos paying for the health ins if nobody has a real job?

Did they really get their house for free????

I thought he was a computer guy? If so, he's probably working from home. DH runs his own computer consulting business and is currently sitting in his chair on the other side of the room working on his laptop and nursing a cold.

Of course, he has to leave the house sometimes and does need to go to clients' offices occasionally, but he can make quite a bit of his income working remotely from home.

They were just in either people or good housekeeping or something. I don't watch the show, so this is just from the article or what I remember from the article, but she said that they are looking to move to a bigger house, more down south and more in a secluded area. She made it seem like they make huge bucks from the show that they live very comfortably. They film four of the seven days a week and on those night, someone comes in and cooks for them. They have no communication with his or her parents. I don't remember them saying anything about his job, but they wrote a book and do talks/speeches, etc, so I assume they do pretty good from that also.

Their wedding or renewal and trip to hawaii was paid for my TLC as part of filming.

Frankly the show is getting boring and I doubt if it will last much longer. If I was in their place I would be putting everything I could into savings.

I agree. The kids are cute and all, but I can't watch week after week of them doing special trips to the zoo or the latest morning show apperance. I took it off my season pass, and only stop and watch for a few minutes while chanel surfing. I don't think they'll be on much longer, and then what will they do? Then again, they both seem pretty bright, I'd imagine they've got quite the rainy day fund.

Agreed. I'm sure they are aware that their 5 minutes of fame could end at any moment. She does get on my nerves most of the time, but they seem to really have it together. I think he does pretty well at his job so if they go back down to just his income they will be fine.

They are definately getting Freebies all their kids wear Gymboree!!! Gymboree for 8 kids would cost them a small fortune (even on sale)!

I used to be a fan of theirs in the very beginning but now I just think they sold out.

I could see it in the beginning to help them gain a LITTLE more financially but not turn into a a full time job/brand.

It stops being interesting when you realize that they get everything for free and it borders on exploitation. They should be saving all of that money for a college fund...instead they are living on hand outs.

Sorry, they lost me as a fan.

I agree. This show, along with others like it, start out being interesting. We want to see how a normal family deals with 8 kids - do they clip coupons, budget, etc. Soon it turns into a wealthy family making money off their show, and it is no longer interesting to me. I can't relate to the free vacations, free clothes, etc.

It is my understanding that they make upwards of $60,000 per episode. They also charge appearance/speaking fees for their public appearances. In addition, have you noticed all the product placements lately and the one new toy in each episode that they mention by name? I've also seen them in print endorsements (was it Proctor and Gamble?). They are definately raking in the Big $.

I've also heard that they have actually purchased a new home, but it is closer to where they originally lived in PA. It is a 1.4 million dollar "estate" complete with a pool, horse barn and guest house.

I still like the show ... Kate's Disney Love hooked me!:rotfl:

As a mom of 5, of which 4 were born within 4 1/2 yrs, sometimes Kate drives me nuts. The stuff that she goes on about, the fusses, etc.

Somethings said are not, well, she once told a little one that since he got gum on his bear she'd have to throw it out. How sad, that poor little guy. Even if she didn't actually do it, it would hurt a toddler enough just knowing that's how she feels

I think I read in People that John does consulting work now, so he makes his own hours. Kate was a Nurse, so if need be she could always go back to work if the show stopped making them $$$. I also wondered how they paid insurance on a family of that size if he was freelancing, but it's not really my concern so I didn't dwell on it too long!
