So are you saying that Jon is not paying $20,000+ a month in support, sharing responsibility of caring for and raising them... and that Kate is doing it all by herself?
:confused3
I"m pretty sure we would hear about it, if Jon wasn't paying. I don't know how long it will last, since that was supposedly money set aside from their combined savings.

As for Kate taking care of them, I don't see her out spending tons of money, taking trips to France, out on the town. I do wonder, if Jon held the purse strings , if there would be anything left for the kids. I do think Kate is making sure there is, and that she is doing more the kid arrangements. For me, that is what I mean about Kate taking care of them herself.

DisneyX7, I believe you could have opened an account when your kids were born. Just like with Kate, however, I don't think there would be money in that account. The McCaughey septuplets did get totally free college from their state according to the net.

Why should I pay you?? Give birth to sextuplets or more and think of all the freebies and vacations you can get. I hope you know what your kids are putting on Utube because I'm sure some parents would be mortified to see what little Susie is really doing with the camera!!

The movies are stupied but they do a good job filming & editing for kids. They have always used fake names... which makes it funnier. If I can figure how to do it I'll see if I can put a link on.

I'm sure there wouldn't be any money in it except what DH and I set aside. Of course when we decided to have a large family we didn't expect anyone else to pick up the tab.

Contrary to what some posters are posting no there wouldn't be enough money in the world for me to be putting my kids private lives out there for the world to see. I would rather have lived within my means than to make a trade for our privacy for some free trips and money. No one knows the future but I'll be might interested in seeing what the kids have to say when they are grown.

Everyone has their own opinion but to me it just seems like Kate LOVES being in the limelight and nothing is going to stop her from wanting to be a celebrity. To me it's just very sad.

I don't disagree with that. I don't think many would. Many hope that it will happen eventually without the kids.

I can't answer if I would have done a show (would have been great to get money to put three kids close in age through college and not had student loans)..our family is crazy enough that many visitors say we should have. We have a great time when we are all together..loud and a lot of fun. For sure I would have been smart enough to get more say over the content and smart enough to be careful what gets shown.

You don't have to answer of course, but do you have 7 kids or 3?

'Mom of two little princesses and a little prince charming!'

I'm confused.

I don't think they need help financially, Kate is taking good care of them. They were in trouble after the divorce but she really pulled it together for them. She is so awesome. It has to be so hard with 8 kids without your husband there for you.

How is Kate taking good care of whom? She says frequently how hard up they are for money? Is she lying? What did she pull together and how did she go about it? What attributes make her so awesome? Jon is still in the picture. He pays a huge child support and takes care of the kids when she is traveling and, otherwise nearly half of the time. Why does doing what is expected make one awesome? I haven't had family within 100 miles of me since I've had kids and only hired a babysitter a couple of times and it was a disaster. We had too many kids for teenagers to watch, and couldn't afford a paid adult. So we stayed home, or took them with us. Do I complain, think I'm awesome? No, they are my kids; who else is going to raise them? Are you just trying to stir it up or are you serious?

I guess you missed the Pop eater report a few pages back she has made over a Million since being on DWTS. Not bad for a few months work. I think the hard times are behind them.

But back to you :grouphug: You poor thing it sounds like you had it really bad.

This is a Jon & Kate thread... I think she is awesome that is why I have been posting here for what seems like years. I have always been a Kate fan why is that a surprise to you now after all this time?

I find it odd that so many people take offense if anyone says anything nice about Kate.

Kate is the star now...having the kids got her the show but she is a star on her own now.

I mean she was on Dancing with the Stars so it must be true:laughing:

The kids are not working like most child actors on weekly shows. They still go to school & really are not required to do much but have fun most of the time. Is it 12 shows for the next year or season, I'm not sure how that works.

If you really want to get upset how about the poor Amish kids that have to work on the farms all week then have to work at the Farmers Market on the weekends.

I don't have the time to spare at the moment...but typically...child labor laws don't apply in the same manner to a farm/family business type of situation.

For reasons I will not go into now due to my own time constraints...I don't feel sorry for them as I don't find what they are doing to be a bad thing for them.

So I guess she isn't telling the truth about the show being necessary to provide the basics for her kids. A million bucks for DWTS and 240,000 a year in child support plus their family jobs?
I'm not offended at all that you think Kate is "so awesome". I was only curious. My curiosity is not satisfied (not that it is your responsibility). I didn't have a hard time at all when my kids were younger. It's actually more hectic now. No need for sympathy; I am so blessed. I have had nothing at all really bad. My youngest have a good friend battling leukemia; that's really bad. Busy is what moms and dads are. We chose to have kids, and we love the sweet times and the sour ones.
Being a fan of Kate is an interesting concept to me. Does that mean her fans admire her? She is simply an anomaly to me; baffling. She as a person is much less interesting to me than the media frenzy she has caused. She just doesn't seem all that bright to me. Earning power; that still seems to be there. Yes it does surprise me that Kate herself still has fans. Not that it's bad...

Does anyone know what jon is doing to earn a living? Also, what night is Kate Plus 8 on? I saw it once but can't find it again in the guide.

Thanks!

@walden...due to limitations on my phone...I am having difficulty responding and typing my answer with a diRect quote.

That aside..I am quite calm, thank you. But the "positive" nature of my optimism...well yes, I took it negatively. Your post certainly did not come across as complimentary towards me as indicated by your lengthy explanation to me. :)

What does Jon do for a living? Date 20 year olds.;) Seriously though, I believe he's making money off of the fact that he let his kids back on tv. Something like TLC paying him to allow it? I'm not 100% sure on that point though.

Kate+8 is scheduled for July 11 @ 9pm.

Kate Has No Regrets
posted by Georgia Toomey - Thu Jun 17 2010, 5:17 PM PDT

With Kate Gosselin sporting a T-shirt with the tag line, "Nobody Has Ever Regretted It," one might wonder exactly what it is that she's not regretting. Her atrocious "shopping trolley-esque" performances on "Dancing With the Stars"? Her very public breakup from her ex-husband Jon? Her reported 2009 **** job? No, I think the one thing Kate's never regretted is having her eight gorgeous kids.

Fresh from a workout, the reality star was spotted playing ball with her brood outside their home in Wernersville, Pennsylvania, on Thursday. Laughing and joking with her children, it's the first time in ages the multi-tasking mom has looked so happy and relaxed.

The premiere of the first two of TLC's "Kate Plus 8" specials was a huge ratings win for Kate, who also has another series, "Twist of Kate," debuting in the fall on the network that made her famous.

Juggling two new shows, her press appearances, and eight young kids, it's a wonder Gosselin has time to brush her hair extensions in the morning, let alone even think of doing another reality show. Life & Style reported yesterday that Kate's "next gig" was going to be a dating series for ABC.

TLC came back saying the reports were "completely untrue," but it seems ABC's President of Entertainment, Steve McPherson, rather likes the idea. He told Ryan Seacrest on KIIS-FM radio that the show "would be great," but added, "Unfortunately I can't officially confirm or deny that at all."

It's nice to see a non-judgmental, positive article on Kate. They're rare, aren't they?;)

TLC is paying him to shut-up & stay out of sight.

"Poor Amish kids"?? I guess you're not terribly familiar with their way of life - what they do - why they do it - and what their outlook on life is.. Lots of great non-fiction books out there that can provide you with significant insight in terms of their culture.. Start with their initial arrival here in the United States and follow it to the present.. Fascinating stuff..:goodvibes

One particular phrase they use quite often when people question them about how hard they work is, "Nothing is work - unless you would rather be doing something else.." :goodvibes "Work" isn't work to them.. It's a time of socializing; bonding; interacting with others; reaping the rewards of their efforts; etc.. The women and children in particular really look forward to the Farmers Markets each week - as well as selling from their roadside stands and such..

But you have to understand - through studying them - that their society can't be compared to ours - nor do they wish it to be.. They're quite content to live in what they consider their own "perfect world".. Actually, "our" society might benefit by taking a few pages out of "their" book..;)

I'm confused.

I have 7 - just the three youngest are home and traveling to Disney (except for 2008 when we treated all of the children, DIL and SIL, and grandchildren to an all expense paid vacation in Disney). My oldest is 33 and married, next two ds's are 27 and 25. They have already graduated from college and are working and on their own. Next ds is 24 and just entering his last year of Law School. That is why I only have the youngest ones in my signature.

There is quite an age difference between number 4 (24 year old ds) and number 5 (almost 13 year old dd). We thought we were done and I had cancer and chemo and was told that I was going into early menopause - surprise! So we CHOSE to start all over again because we wanted dd to grow up brothers or sisters her own age. So we had number 6 (11 year old dd) and number 7 (9 year old ds).

I absolutely agree with you. I have studied their society/culture and not only find it fascinating but at times truly wish I could live their lifestyle. Hard work true, and not necessarily agree with everything (but of course don't agree with everything in our society) the way things are but the basics can';t get more real than that.

Wow..I guess that will keep you young, eh LOL?

Sounds like you did a great job on those older ones.

Glad your cancer ended well for you, including a chance to enjoy more children.

If you have any book suggestions I would appreciate it.

I find the Amish interesting but I do not agree with everything they do. That maybe from my lack of understanding.
