Jon and Kate Plus 8 Official Thread - Part 8

Ok, so I just watched the kate8 show. Boy, she gives me a migraine snapping orders at eveyone.

My daughter and I both thought it was odd that she immediately sent Jamie back to the hotel with the sick kid instead of going herself. Gee, I bet the "friend" was really excited about having to miss Discovery Cove to go back to the hotel with a friends sick kid. I'm hoping she is smart enough to be on a payroll for that kind of treatment, but i thought Kate "didn't want anyone to make money off her kids but her". Maybe she has come to realize, that she needs to keep people payed to keep them in her life.

First, I would have assumed that the child was motion sick from the bus ride and given her a few minutes in the park to see how she did, before sending her back. However, even if she was sick enough that she really needed to go back - I WOULD HAVE BEEN THE ONE TO GO WITH HER. The crew could have still taped the kids having fun in the park with Jamie in the background more. But Kate didn't even think that for one second....she had to get out there so the world could see her parade around in that ridiculously small bikini. Ick. Honestly, it is of the lowest common taste to parade from beach, or pool or water park in an uncovered bathing suit. It is called a 'cover-up'. When one is leaving poolside or beach or water park, one pulls this lightweight garmet over ones bathing suit to remian tasteful and modest, and keep the world from having to witness EVERYTHING that you got. It keeps a person from looking like a streetwalker in lingerie. Not Kate. No way. Why was she wearing modest dresses on DWTS, if she was just going to go strip bare on her own show? bizarre.

The birthday "party" was ridiculous. First, it's not a "party" without guests. We all know the kids already celebrated their birthday (again, without guests), so why did they take time out of their vacation to do this? Weird. Why did she act like having it there was necessary so that they would have a "paparazzi free" party when she brought along a film crew anyway? Again, weird.

Why did Kate act like it was so hard to feed her kids lunch and the trainers had to carry the food for her. She didn't cook it. She has a whole film crew there with her to watch kids while she carries food back and forth. It's not that hard Kate. Geez. I have taken my four, and six of my brother kids places by myself, you just do it. You have one older kid keep an eye, while the other older child helps carry food. Or you have them all carry their own. as at 6 yrs. old they should be able to do. Did anyone else notice the SPREAD of fresh fruit and food that was in their private cabana at the park? None of us have it that nice at the parks. or have that many trainers doting on us...yet, she acts like it's all coming to her and she has it so hard. She is bonkers.

I came in at the end of her being at "say yes to the dress" what the heck was that about? Why one earth was she there? Did anyone else think she paraded through there as if she was a celebrity, yet it was lost on her that she is no more of a celebrity than the people she was meeting... funny.

So you think it would have been the nicer thing to send your friend off with 7 of your children, while you stay behind with 1? The phone call later said that Jamie and Alexis (I think - she was the sick one, right?) were lounging by the pool. I would think that as much as Jamie might have missed hanging out at Discovery Cove, it was much nicer of Kate not send her there with 7 children.
I don't think it was a call for the camera - just common sense. If Alexis was hospital-sick - then it would have been another story, but she just threw up a little. I think they probably couldn't reschedule the day, which would have been the best - because Kate kept asking if it would be possible for Alexis to come the next day and do a quick tour, which they let her do. I thought it was odder that Kate thought she could command her child to get better "Oh, she'll be better by tomorrow. That's what I want."

I think Kate looked great in the bikini. She wasn't parading around - she was walking from place to place with her children. She also had on a life vest or whatever - so she was hardly even just wearing the bikini only. Tummy tuck aside, she has worked hard to get that body and I don't have a problem with anyone wearing tasteful clothes. A 30-something year old in a bikini that covers all of your parts and doesn't have fat rolls hanging out - totally tasteful in my book.

I agree with you that I thought the birthday party was uncalled for. When Kate first explained, it made it seem like Jon had celebrated with them on their birthday, and now she was going to do this in Florida. But she had also had another birthday party on her own - so it did seem like overkill. I get why they did it - to show was about them turning 6 and they've always shown their birthday parties on their show before. That is the stuff that I don't care for on the show - doing things just to have them taped. I don't mind trips every once in a while, but for the past few seasons it seems like the production department is controlling what they do - instead of it being about what their real lives are like. They have all of these trips, and if they stay home it has to feature someone coming to their house and giving them things. I liked it more when it was "today we're going to do a fashion show" or "let's clean out the garage." The show started out as a chronicle of what their lives were like, but its not really about that anymore - which is my main problem with the show - not Kate or the kids on TV.

I wonder why, if Discovery was having them for the kids birthday, why they didn't put on a party right there. Unless the boat ride and the party was connected to Discovery?

I agree with some of the other posts here, there is NO way I'd send a friend with 7 of my kids to a water park area. Nope, not going to happen. I'd be nervous the whole time that she might overlook one of them and with water, you don't mess around with that. Totally agree with Kate on this one. And I thought it was wonderful that she took Alexis the next day herself so she wouldn't have missed out.

Sorry, but she looks fabulous for her age, her bikini body is nothing to be ashamed of! Plus she had on a life vest for most of the time anyway. So who cares? I could care less how Kate dresses and hardly think it says anything about her parenting skills. Why are you so irritated that didn't have a cover up on?

If you heard what Kate said when they were getting the kids food, she has low blood sugar. Have you ever experienced that? I have and it's not pleasant. I get very snippy and easily irritated until the sugar hits my system. Maybe that's why she felt overwhelmed trying to get 7 lunches plus her own while feeling crappy.

As far as the b-day party, what do you mean that 'it's not a party unless there's guests'? What about a family party? We've done lots of those where it's just me, DH and my 3 DD's. We have cake, ice cream and presents.

I also didn't think she paraded down the aisle past the Say Yes to the Dress girls. What she said was actually rather funny.

Talulabelle, I know this is all your opinion and you're allowed to share it. I just think you feel really strongly about Kate and it baffles me why you'd watch a woman who makes you so crazy.:rolleyes1 I'm not trying to be snarky with you, I'm just trying to understand the intense dislike I guess.

I think that was actually a TLC event - wasn't it? Didn't they also show the cake boss guy? She had to do a speech or something as well, right? (Sorry, by this time I was doing laundry and not paying all that much attention.) I thought she was rather funny as well.

Yes, but I have coped. The low blood sugar thing has been so over worked by Kate. Low blood sugar only means that one needs to eat. So how about packing some snacks? Simple solution, and one that many mothers have utilized to stave off *melt-downs*.

As far as I know, neither Kate nor any of the kids has Type 1 (or 2) diabetes. So, give the kids some food/snacks often to avoid low blood sugar.

Kindergarten teachers deal with lunch every day with more than 10 kids. Why does Kate panic and have melt downs over her 8? And yes, she does have quite a lot of help.:confused3

Not to mention, when I experience low blood sugar I become extremely nauseated. it isn't fun at all, you just can't think straight and you feel terrible.

It was the TLC "upfront party", which essentially is a showcase event that highlights the upcoming shows and it's stars. Every network does them.

YOu cant bring food into Discovery Cove.

You can have hypoglycemia without diabetes. And I've had it rather severe before where I was literally snapping at my DH who was just trying to help. It made me feel confused and irritated. Sure, the simple answer is to always pack a snack. But do I always remember, nope. So why isn't Kate allowed that? She was experiencing low blood sugar (which can be different for everyone, not everyone reacts the same way) and had to get 7 lunches plus her own. I totally understand how she was feeling and am not about to judge her on her lack of snacks. Good grief, sometimes you just forget or you let more time go by since you last ate. It happens.

I wrote on the other thread my impressions of these 2 shows which I reluctantly recorded and watched. For me, it is much the same as the old shows. I think Kate needs a "snap out of it" moment when it comes to what Mady and Cara are going through. They are being completely honest with how they feel and she seems to think it is just a phase. That is very sad that she will look past what her children are going through just to keep the image of the "little kids" going in order to stay on TV. I think this is all driven by the fact that she needs a lot of money to maintain her lifestyle and after DWTS and the mediocre book sales, she realizes that her media involved career is limited to TLC.

I wish she had been more discreet with the bag of throw up and descriptive discussion about what poor Alexis was going through. Some things never change. She also got a few digs in on Jon with belittling the party he had for the tups and the whole sleeping bags thing. At least with him they are allowed to have gum though ;)

Kate uses that term "low blood sugar" everytime she or one of the kids is having a meltdown. True "low blood sugar"--I doubt it!:confused3

She was clearly prepared for the laundry list of meltdown prone scenarios that may have happened on the plane. I would think that if their blood sugar is a repetitive issue that she would have been more vocal to the person at Discovery Cove that put together the itinerary. Also, I realize that food is not allowed in DC but what is it to have a bag of jelly beans or hard candy for situations like this. I believe it is a crutch excuse she uses for a wide variety of meltdowns that have happened over the years.

I'm confused. I only heard Kate talk about her low blood sugar. Did she say that the kids also suffer from that? I didn't hear that part.

Absolutely! I just wonder what occurs before the actual meltdown. Maybe its retaping the scene 15 times or getting up at 5am to arrive before the park opens to the public.

Yep, she said that some of her kids have the same issue. In the hour special about her and what life has been like for her, it seemed like in every scene she had a coffee or soft drink in her hand. Maybe that is how she handles the low blood sugar issue for herself, but excessive thirst can also be a sign of diabetes.

I have heard her say the exact same thing when they were J & K. I guess its her excuse for the meltdown!

yes, 'low blood sugar' has often been used to explain the kids bad behavior. I think this may be the first time she has used it for herself. she must have the lowest blood sugar ever! ;)

I do understand the feeling it brings, but as was mentioned, you plan if this is an issue for you and you deal. Especially, I would think if you were filming a tv show which is how you earn your money.

And excuse like this works once or twice, but if it becomes a drinking game moment (I do it all alone. I do it all for my kids) well, perhaps a pb&j sandwich won't fix your problem.

I wonder why, if Discovery was having them for the kids birthday, why they didn't put on a party right there. Unless the boat ride and the party was connected to Discovery?

I tried to read the side of the boat and it said "Alligator tours". We stayed down the road from Discovery Cove and from our hotel, we could of taken a canoe down the stream. The hotel boasted that we were at the head waters of the Everglades, so maybe Discovery Cove brought the boat in for them. I have never seen a TR for when someone goes to Discovery Cove, and it included an air boat ride, but you never know. Boogie Creek Air Boat rides is about 5 miles away. I'm sure there are more places to ride an air boat, than just Boogie Creek Air Boat place, but they are the most advertised in Orlando. TLC taped the Roloff's doing an air boat ride.
