She would take a loss..if he owes her $80,000, what is the small claims limit in most areas, $2500-$5000?

Plus, I think she would have to file first, because they say these are cases already filed. Maybe she has.

So yes, this is prob Hailey wanting to get on TV, not her money back.

not arguing with you ;)

but what is so wrong with people being impressed with another parent even if that parent has help?

To me it would be like scoffing at someone impressed with a friends home or their landscape or their hair or their clothes or a party being held and saying.."you do realize they had ______ don't you?"

it just seems....well I don't want to risk points...so I'll just say that it seems wrong to me for others to feel the need to point it out. The adjective I would have used is by no means bad, but I don't want it to be misconstrued in any way as an attakc when it would not be.

I just feel that if someone is impressed by someone, there isn't Anything wrong with that. Pointing out the help makes it seem as though their opinion should be wrong.

I am impressed with parents when they act in a manner which demonstrates they have the children's best interest at heart. They put their kids needs above their own. (no not every second, but the big things, the important things) They can recognize their own selfish behavior and how it could be harming their kids and they stop. Otherwise, not so much.

Oh, and do all those with help spend 90% of the time whining about how hard they have it and 'oh poor me'? Perhaps that is most of the issue. It seems Kate will never have enough money or enough help for her terribly put upon self.

OT: But I just had to tell someone, I just found out that I'm going to be grandma. WooHoo!!

The exageration makes me laugh. So, 90% of Kates time is spent whinning about how hard she has it, eh? I bet we don't even see her 1% of the time, and in that time she actually talks about other stuff LOL. Even if you count a one hour show, so little of it was about how hard she has it, with so much more about other things. I think if you really intensely dislike her, you don't hear the other things she talks about. I'd say 90% of the new show was about what they were doing, and the kids, if not more..and that was just a part of the whole of her life, the taping of that show.

And the opposite is true and has been mentioned here numerous times. For those of you that like Kate, you will not see what the rest of us see and hear. I only read the first 10 or 12 pages of her new book (the ones released by her publisher) and it was practically all whining. About the doctors that didn't give her extra special attention when her kids were sick and the issues with how much garbage she accumulated being more than their allotted amount, the fact that they will never be "normal" and no one else knows what they, as a family, go through blah blah blah. This coupled with her attitude in TV interviews, her segments on DWTS and these new shows, I agree it does add up to quite a bit of whining, maybe not 90% but then again there's also 22 minutes of commercials in an hour long show. ;)

So are you saying that those that stick up for her (by the way, I really don't know her well enough to like her, but I do stick up for her, because I still believe we see a lot of what TLC wants us to see, and without actually knowing her, it's really hard for me to judge and say the things that gets said about her) don't realize that 90% of the time she is whinning? Because that is what I was talking about. You don't think that is a gross exageration? I realize you said maybe not 90%, but come on, it was no where near that amount, even if she meant the show, and not 90% of the time. Does she complain? Yes. Is it through most of the show or her interviews. No. When she is interviewed and asked how hard it is, or something similar, does she resond it's hard..yes. Do I believe it's hard, even with her help? Yes.

This is what I commented on

She wasn't talking about the show..or at least she didn't say she was. And if there were 22 minutes of commercials, and you are talking about the actual Kate + 8, even if I hated Kate, there is no way she whined about how hard she has it for even a fraction of the 90% of the show. Mostly the show was about Discovery Cove, and throwing up, and the allergator and party.

Like I said, those exagerations make me laugh. It also makes it hard for me to take other stuff said seriously, like 15 retakes of each scene. That would take so long, nothing would get taped :)

I am not even going to get in to the semantics about someone saying 90% of the time Kate is whining, I think a lot of times what people write on this specific thread is taken too literally.

What I do find interesting is that you said above that you don't know her well enough to like her but that you would still stick up for her because you think TLC is in control of how she is interpreted. WOW! After several years of being on a hit TV show if she doesn't have editorial control over the content then she's an idiot and if she does have control over what is seen and still chooses to show her harsh self than she is desperate, neither of which is worthy of a defense in my book.

What makes me laugh is how bothered you are when people don't agree with you! If someone says anything negative about Kate you are the first to defend. If you don't think they do retakes of scenes you post about it constantly. If someone thinks Kate is whining 90% of the time their wrong!
Once again, everyone is entitled to their opinion! JMO!:confused3

Officially it's 63.5986% of the time Kate is whining about how hard life is for her overall. The 90% refers to the percentage of time she is on camera or in a written form that she is sharing about her specific difficulties in life. ;)

Thank you for correcting that, it is imperative that ONLY FACTS be expressed on this thread. Although it feels like 90% of the time she is in "pity me" mindset.

Yes, thank you for correcting that. Now is that 63.5986% include the instances of the dreaded "low blood sugar" that is the justification for the meltdown?? :rotfl:

I didn't say I didn't think there were ever retakes. However I do think 15 retakes of each scene, or 90% or even 65% of what we see of her is whining is such gross exageration that it makes me wonder what else is. Do you have to exagerate everything to make her seem bad? Is that the only way?
I'm not bothered when people don't agree with me, but I also have no problem pointing out the above. And so what if I'm the first to defend? Are you not the first to always put her down? Do I care that you are always the first? Nope, but I do think you are often the one who exagerates most. And I guess I don't get the point. Hate her if you must, but why make what she does and say worse? Shouldn't you just hate her based on what you know to be the truth?:confused3 And we know little enough as it is. Perhaps you should point out that 15 retakes of each scene is your opinion, instead of stating it as fact.

And to me, saying it that way, that it feels like 90% makes more sense, but really, is that what you really believe..65 or 90%? Or does it just makeyou feel better, to put Kate down, even if it has to be an exageration. I only know that she does plenty of things that some people think are wrong (and in their minds maybe having the kids on TV is wrong), without making it even worse.

Actually, what I said was:

"because I still believe we see a lot of what TLC wants us to see" . I don't believe TLC is in control of how she is interpreted. They show it, and we get to interpret. I do think TLC wants to keep up the ratings and sometimes, what they show, keeps people talking.

And I do think that she is foolish that she doesn't see how TLC portrays her on the past shows and prob will on new shows. I don't happen to agree with you that we are still seeing a harsh person. What I saw on DWTS was a person doing a job for money, doing something she thought she would enjoy. Someone who got criticized even when she told her kids she loved them. Criticized when she cried when booted (even though other's have as well). I see a person that laughs a lot more than she used to when on non TLC interviews, and even a more tender person on the show about her.

As I said earlier I am not going to get into it over semantics about a statement that nearly everyone would know was intended as an exaggeration. Besides, if it was said that she complains more than anything else, that would not be received well either. Just like if it was said that they do 3 re-takes of scenes, then it would be asked, "do you know that for a fact? Where did you hear or read that?" The list goes on and on about how each side of this debate will respond to the different posts on this thread and it is all very predictable at this point.

By the way, I don't like her as a friend, because I don't know her as such. But I do think she is tough, has done well with a lot of criticism, even made up criticism. And I don't dislike her. I do know of her, and can see good in her. I think she truly loves her kids, I see it the way she puts a hand on their heads, how she looks at them. I don't get the dislike of someone not really known.

My thoughts exactly!!!:goodvibes
