Jon and Kate Plus 8 Official Thread - Part 6

Jon and Kate are going to go to hell for what they have done and are taking anyone that helped promote them or the show with them. Most especially anyone associated with The View, Rachel Ray, People magazine or anyone else that has tryed to make Kate look like an innocent in this. Also anyone that has tried to hook up to the gravy train, including the plastic surgeon his wife and daughter and the designer that was using Jon for a cheap bit. It is all just disgusting. All products associated with the show and TLC should be boycotted.

I think Jon has actually finally grown a pair and is standing up to Kate and her control to do what is right and should have been done years ago. In trying to avoid conflict he went on too long. He could see that Kate was veering off with control over the show and kids and he's stopping it. THe PR people are making it look as though he is being opportunistic. What sane normal person would sit back and say "oh, I think it will be ok if you write me off the show and out of the kids lives and continue to exploit the kids and just let Kate take all their money"??? No one. Jon is doing exactly what anyone who was being screwed and watching their kids be exploited would do. Sure, he has acted like an idiot in the process, but he wasn't used to having adult freedoms before as he was controlled by Kate, and he waivered for a bit to find himself...but I think he might be coming to his senses.

Getting those kids off TV is the most sane thing I have heard yet. How could anyone criticize Jon for this? Sure it is too little way too late...but at least it's something!

I think it is time that Child Protective Services step in and stop this hideous exploitation of children. I hate to see children removed from their parents, but it is obvious that these two 'parents' don't give two hoots about these children save for the money and fame they bring them.

ETA: Do you think maybe he came to some sort of realization in therapy? Maybe the therapist really brought it to light that "if you feel overwhelmed and feel you have no privacy imagine what the kids feel".

Jon's therapy bill is $22,000, I'd imagine for that price he would have figured it out alot sooner than this. The therapist probably told him this on day one.

Jon's "realization" is from his new LAWYER. And he is an entertainment/PR lawyer. And apparently this new lawyer has been able to bring Jon to the light that he has been acting like a jerk and it doesn't look good.

A veiled reference to the fact that he can be sued for breach of contract for bringing bad PR to the show.

If I were his lawyer I'd tell him that he's already wet so he may as well start swimming -- TLC will be less likely to sue a dad who appears to be trying to look out for his kids' best interests, so he should spill the beans on everything tonight. The marriage is over, the show is over (at least for him), and the only thing he has left is being a dad, a dad with a lot less future income, but his kids obviously love this guy. Might as well go out with a bang.

Jon's lawyer knows exactly what he is doing. Any good lawyer would not tell their client to do something so bold if it were not in the clients best interest. His lawyer has sued Discover, Inc. before, so this is old hat for him.

Yes, I just read that. Seems to me, Jon wanted "Jon and Kate" over, and the kids off tv, but wanted to be able to another show without the kids to make money, and Kate could do her own thing to make money. Kate is a MAJOR BORE without the kids (as is Jon, but whatever) so she knew she needs to exploit her children in order to survive - so they wanted to continue the show with just her and the kids, and basically pay Jon to hush up and be a good little boy. Jon didn't want this to happen and the kids are complaining about having to do the show... so he is FINALLY being a father with a spine adn putting his foot down.

The kids were never paid, because to pay them would have been admitting that they were WORKING for money...and we all know they have been WORKING far more hours than child labor laws would permit...so they insisted they weren't working and were "playing" and didn't pay them. Finally this may be stopped.

Thanks for the link. Here's one sentence that stood out for me: These sources say Jon was blindsided when TLC released a statement that the show would be called "Kate Plus 8" and that the result would be that the kids would have to be on camera a lot more.


I really hadn't thought of that, but it is probably true -- with one less adult to follow around eg. taking care of the dogs, running errands, building things, it would mean that the kids were filmed a lot more with him off the show -- plus, he wouldn't be able to excuse one of more kids from filming, as he apparently did on a few occasions over the summer, if he was never on set with the kids

Who out there thinks the show isn't hurting the kids?! Is IS bad for them, so matter what else the motivation, how can anyone argue that the show should go on? who is going to take that side except for Kate and TLC who need the paycheck(s).

I absolutely 100% agree with this.

I don't believe for one second that Jon is doing this for the kids. He was filming a week ago!!! Why all of a sudden is it no good for the kids???
Now I agree that the filming should stop. I was actually rather surprised that it continued after the divorce announcement. But I truly don't believe that he is trying to halt the filming for their sake. I think he has hired himself an excellent attorney!!

Anyone who reads this thread knows I'm not Kate's biggest fan but I seriously don't see the appeal of her on her own show. What does she bring to the table. She is the mother of a large family and... what else? I don't really like Rachel Ray, but I do see her appeal to a certain audience. Can someone enlighten me?

Friends close to Jon Gosselin tell FOX411 that the reality show dad was more surprised than they expected him to be when he learned TLC was curtailing his role on "Jon & Kate Plus 8" to make Kate its central focus.
"Jon was taken aback with how quickly everything happened with TLC," says an insider. "They needed to act fast with the ratings slipping, and Kate is the more beloved parent.

And though they say Jon is upset, he is also slowly realizing all the mistakes he made since the split, and is ready to move on to his next project with, wait for it.... Lindsay Lohan's dad.
"Now that Jon is free to take on a new job, he's really diving into the idea of 'The Divorced Dads Club' with Michael Lohan," says the source. "Michael has been a friend and adviser through the scandal, and they have mutual friends. Their team is eager to capitalize on Jon's new freedom and lawyers and publicists are working on meetings for Jon. He’s looking at every opportunity available."
But Jon is is still smarting from the beating he has taken in the tabloid press. "He feels remorse and anger, but he does see that he could have handled things in a more mature manner," says a snitch. "He doesn’t think people understand him, and that is the most frustrating part for Jon."
Kate, on the other hand, is on top of the world, say sources.
"To say she is happy would be an understatement. This gives her one less thing she will have to bicker over with Jon," an insider tells FOX411. "The turmoil of the last months was difficult for Kate to deal with and she was in tears many days. The move by TLC gives her a little breathing room even further from Jon. That's because Jon will rarely be on camera from now on. "He will no longer film special segments each episode with the kids," says a source. "His time with them will be mostly private."

This article made me LOL (thanks, I needed that today, I have a DD9, enough said), and I quote: "By the way, it's spelled "PEENELTY" not "PENELTY." They forgot the E in the sign above.

No, it's spelled "penalty"

I don't think Jon put that sign up -- he obviously would know how to spell his own name.
