Jon and Kate Plus 8 Official Thread - Part 6

It is my understanding that only one parent needs to agree to the filming while the parents are still married. Also, only one home owner needs to give permission for the film crew to be on site while they both own the home.

Jon is a tool of epic proportions.

Oh, and Discovery network, who owns TLC, has offices in DC.

depends on how property ownership is defined and limited where you live.

if there's are ccr's or local/state laws that were in place when a person purchased that create a specific definition and empowerment/limitations to "owners" it can require any/all persons with titled interest (and in some cases those under contract to purchase) to come to 100% agreement. this is the case where we live-and we've got a situation where one owner thought so long as he got at least one spouse from each household to sign off on a permit issue he was free and clear-NOPE, none of the signatures except those that done by single owners are deemed legaly valid (and the one single owner he got was under contract so those new owners have gotten that one invalidated).


not sure what the filming laws are where the gosselins live, but our kids have attended schools that do filming for promotional purposes and they have always required both parents (married or not) singatures on the permission/releases (only if a person can show they have sole physical AND legal custody can they go with just one).



with the complaints from some of the gosselin neighbors that have been printed in some publications regarding the traffic and the papparazzi i'de be curious to know what the zoning is in their neck of the woods-it looks to be a lovely rural area in which case a commercial buisness being conducted on the property might be illegal-in which case it would'nt be an issue of who wanted it vs. who did'nt (and since there are episodes with kate talking about how that home was ideal because it had space they could earmark for the crew and their equipment it would be a hard argument to say it was'nt in part purchased specificaly for the purpose of doing the show).

I believe her when she says that Jon has never expressed concern about the kids doing the show.

I don't -- he has done so publicly on several occasions, although some have been retracted rolleyes1) and some were never aired.

And this statement completely mirrors the previous statement by TLC, especially the part about filming last Friday -- would have sounded better IMO if had been more different.

Because J&K will soon be divorced. His services won't be needed anymore. His lifestyle doesn't fit in with the show or network. Secondly, I would not have Michael Lohan acting as my spokesman. He is making a mess of things for Jon.

I wonder if her encouraging them to participate is the same as asking "do you want to". She doesn't seem to be one who asks, she's more of a demander. At least from what I see...other obviously see differently.

Didn't Hailey twitter a while ago that it would all come out soon (and then she misspelled some words and called people 'Helen Kellers)

I think Jon was pretty clear on the season ending in march(?) He said he wanted to stop then. Kate dismissed him. He's not so dismissible now is he?

We do know a few new things as fact; Jon and Kate own the house, it's not a trust for the kids or in TLC's name. And we know the kids have not been paid, which I guess isn't surprising, b/c then they would be working. Now that Jon brought all that up (permits, child labor) it HAS to be addressed. And I see filming has stopped, so that says something to me.

And honestly from what I've watched of her on the show, this is how I see her "asking" the kids.

I'm not praising Jon either but I just dont buy the whole I ask the kids everyday crap.

Really? The only thing I have seen Jon retract were slightly negative statements about TLC alone, not about the children being harmed by filming.

I have often wished throughout this mess that Jon would reconsider who he spends his time with, both male and female. He hangs out with the kind of people that would sell him down the river for a few bucks....and have.

Jon has made the very same statements all along as Kate has in regards to the children filming. In fact, he threw Kevin & Jody under the bus this summer for saying the show was harmful, called it ridiculous. He also said so in his last big interview. IMO, what he says doesn't add up.

There is no doubt in my mind that this is 100% true! In one of the dog episodes Kate threatens to get rid of the dogs if the girls didn't let them outside when she told them to. Kate is a manipulator. She could care less if those kids like filming or not--its all about her!!!

I'm glad Jon got a new lawyer. Its about time he has someone who will be on his side looking out for his best interest. Jon made a lot of mistakes and this could really hurt him with the divorce. With that said, I still think he loves his kids and even though he was on the gravy train, he was more a passenger like the kids rather than the conductor (Kate)!!!

Bingo - well said. He wants to cause her as much pain and strife as possible, so now he's raising a stink about the kids being involved. What a loser. Those 20-somethings have quite a prize in this guy.

And he thinks it's a GOOD idea to do a show with Michael Lohan?! The same guy who was on drugs, in prison, and who's kids don't even have a relationship with him?! I guess this is what Jon considers a role model. They can have each other.

Wow, there's been a lot of activity going on in Gosselin-land today! Holy cow. Well, I guess the things that stand out the most to me are that TLC never got the permits to shoot on location at the Gosselin home (which also means that J&K are the owners of that house). Also, TLC failed to get the necessary permits for the kids to work on the show under PA law. And that TLC has failed to compensate the kids for 4 years of being on the show. I'd say TLC is in pretty big trouble. I wonder what their 'penelty' lmao will be?

I'm kind of torn about Jon, although I will most definitely be watching LKL tonight! Wild horses couldn't drag me away. What is so interesting about him is that he seems to say what he's feeling whereas Kate is so scripted in her responses. I'm guessing Larry will go up one side and down the other of Jon tonight. I'm very curious to hear what he will say in reply to the questions he's going to get hammered with tonight.

I'm not surprised by Kate and TLC's comments at all. Of course they would say that. They need to make Jon's accussations look insane and discredit him however they can. But Jon's lawyer wouldn't be giving out these details and claims if he weren't 100% certain IMO.

Bottom line though, the kids now have stopped filming and I think that's a good thing. However, I wonder how much more turmoil they'll be in now because J&K are going to go at each other regarding the show. What a mess, yet again.
