I really have no idea how much any makes. It really none of my business. Do you think really think a small channel like TLC can afford to pay all these familes tons and tons of money and buy them all million dollar homes, I also know that when the Roloff redid there house they paid for it themselves. Matt and Amy had numerous talks about the cost. In fact on one show they were talking about taking out a loan to help pay for the cost.

We've discussed this before, but if a label is shown, a restaurant name, a hotel name, an airline name, then it is free. They are giving it in return for advertising. I read on a blog of a worker from Dutch Wonderland that the production people called the DWL office and asked if they could film there. When they said of course they said they would need free tickets, strollers, lunches, and snacks. DWL agreed and there was the episode.

I don't think TLC paid for any of the homes on the show. But, do you think the Roloff's paid for their home with the pumpkin patch money? They obviously make a good income from the show as do J&K as do the other families.

Many people go on reality shows to try and launch their careers and it wouldn't surprise me if Kate always had this on her agenda. Maybe not at first, but absolutely now.

Kate wants a talk show. She said that in an interview several months ago.

Hey, pumpkins are big sellers in October! :rotfl:

Ten years ago, it was announced that the networks the big 3 were moving away from sitcoms and were going towards "reality tv". Why? because they didn't have to pay anyone for being on the show, except the winners.

The Amazing Race-3rd place won $10,000. That is nothing in the tv world, where actors in a sitcoms can be paid $250,000 an episode. The reality people, were on week after week and were not paid, except their 3rd place winnings. If they would have been paid for the 12 weeks, they would of made over $2 million for the season.

Those figures are the for the competitive reality shows. When they started doing the life reality shows that is when the "cast" started to get paid. If I recall, Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne were one of the firsts to demand to get paid.

Didn't she say it in the People article as well? I've read so much in a short amount of time it is getting all jumbled up.

I think she was saying that TLC can't go around buying million dollar homes (like the rumors say they did for the Gosselins).
ah. that's what confused me .. since TLC hasn't bought anyone a house.

they did contribute to the Duggar's house, in that they did a show about it... I don't know how much that offset the Duggar's costs. TLC also furnished/decorated it for an episode.

OK, something keeps nagging at me, so I'm going to post it.

How can Kate write an "overcoming obstacles in relationships" book if they don't. How can they have a happy ending without a conflict to resolve?

Now, that is totally, completely and 100% my PR brain in overdrive, but it keeps poking me, so maybe now that it's out there, it will stop.

And before someone says they'd never buy the book...the fans will, but even more, the haters will so they can pick it apart.

OK, I really have to get out and run errands at some point today. It's my last day of summer vacation!

I dunno how much the Roloffs make from TLC but I do know that Amy and Matt both work

I've thought the same thing. That this was all a ploy for more books/shows/seasons.

I can totally see people buying the book, look how well her other books did. The last one was basically a scrapbook and people bought that.

Last day of summer vacation? It hasn't even started here yet.

What were the 4 things Kate said, as long as her kids are:
1. Healthy
2. Happy
3. Safe

and I can't remember the other one's.

How does Kate thing her kids are safe with Bodyguards, and a house off the road now. If you can't go to a store without security or at a park without security, I wouldn't call it a normal childhood any longer.

Can you imagine if someone actually got kidnapped?
It would be horrific, and maybe Kate would finally get it, get your family out of reality television.

Oh good gosh There a million of TV reality familes, None of them have ever been kidnapped. I think it's sad you wish they would get a child kidnapped

OMG no, I would never want any child kidnapped.
I'm just trying to point out, that Kate says her kids are safe.
How are they safe, if they need body guards and security now.
Is that safe?
Why do they have body guards and security if they are not feeling threatened.

Sheesh! I can't believe how many pages there are? Going back to read.

Loved. the other thing is loved.

that list was one of the things in the interview that struck me as really rehearsed .. just the way both Jon and Kate said it. They (Jon and Kate) can justify what's going on in their lives because the kids are all of these things. Yet, they never really said they were the ones providing the things on the list... (They didn't say they weren't, either) just that as long as the kids are healthy, happy, safe, and loved, it's ok. And that they're getting that where they are.

I don't think the body guards are for the kids. I could be wrong. I thought they were Kate body guards. I don't understand the whole bodyguard thing. When they went to Target you didn't see any bodyguards. So I'm not sure if just for Kate when she travels

Hmmmmm, that would be interesting. This whole mess they're in would certainly qualify as a conflict!
