I don't agree. do you know that Jodi and Kevin didn't get paid for there help?? No not really I know many people that are close to there families.

Well, they admit they got $3300 because they put the lights in their house.

I have never been paid to watch any of my nieces and nephews, and I have never paid my siblings to watch them. It never would have occured to me or them.

I have only watched a handful of episodes since the show started. The times I would actually watch J&K+8 were usually when I found absolutely nothing on tv to watch and they would be having a "marathon".

I will say I did tivo the first epi of this new season after all the discussion of late with J&K.

I was so surprised at the body language of J&K, so to speak....Jon sat off to the side of the big chair making it look like there was a huge void in his life, while Kate choose to sit in the middle of the big chair with tons of pillows around here as though no one was missing from the big chair. Interesting, I thought.

Yet, I agree with many that say Jon is so moving on and Kate is very sad about the whole situation. She did say she has been trying to deal with this whole situation for the better part of 6 months.

I really think Kate would love them to be all together again just like it was and Jon wants to move on. I did like the last scene in the epi with all of them sitting around the picnic table together enjoying a family cookout.

Carla was at the party. But, I think Carla is one of the long time helper people who may or may not be on Kate's payroll.

I think people are getting that figure from Jon saying that someone talked fro $20,000. But it could have been his gal pal's brother, or someone else. I think that would be a low sum for a three part interview. I imagine there will be other deals for them, when they make the movie (assumption here LOL). The Star also pays, and they did an interview there too.

How they ever thought this would be helpful to the kids, I can't imagine. I wonder just how it affects their own children, if people say anything to them, about their parents talking about family like this.

Reportedly Kevin & Jodi were paid 20K for their story from Star Magazine. I would say that is "something to gain". I'm sure they are being paid by others for their story as well - that is how that industry works.

I stand by my opinion that ratting out a family member to the tabloids is a really awful thing to do. I cannot even imagine ever betraying my brother to that degree for my own financial gain. No matter what tension exists there you keep it in the family.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was way more than 20K. I can't remember where I heard that number.

Everyone keeps speaking of Jon and Kate being rich off TLC. Do you realize how many shows like Jon and Kate there are on? There are many and most of those people aren't rich or well off everyone keep saying TLC pays them so well and does this and does that for them which I don't believe for on thing TLC isn't that wealthy of a channel. If they did it for Jon and Kate they would have do it for all of the families. Then they would be broke. I know for a fact that TLC doesn't pay the families that well I have read articles from the Duggar about what they get.

there are articles out there saying how much the Gosselins and Duggars are paid .. you're choosing to believe the article about the Duggars is correct and the ones about the Gosselins aren't?

The Gosselins make money on many other things besides the show. I would also think that TLC can charge higher commercial rates for JK8, and in turn, pay them more.

They have nothing to gain by saying what they are but J&K have everything to lose if they tell the truth. Your forgetting too that they both said they have talked with J&K concerning the children but that J&K said it's their life, this is how they're going to provide for the kids.

Interesting that Kevin & Jodi are scum but J&K are fine even though they are exploiting their kids, showing private moments (ie: potty episodes and vomit) for the world to see, writing books to capitalize on the cuteness of their kids, fighting around the kids, broadcasting to the world that their marriage is in shambles which the kids will be able to watch on DVD and so on. Sorry but all of THAT is much more damaging and "scummy" than what Kevin and Jodi did trying to help. Serioulsy, we all have seen how strong-willed and controlling Kate can be, do you think that she would listen to Kevin & Jodi? My guess would be no. Maybe by doing it so publicly it will work.

I really have no idea how much any makes. It really none of my business. Do you think really think a small channel like TLC can afford to pay all these familes tons and tons of money and buy them all million dollar homes, I also know that when the Roloff redid there house they paid for it themselves. Matt and Amy had numerous talks about the cost. In fact on one show they were talking about taking out a loan to help pay for the cost.

I don't know what I'd do in a similar situation... being paid to watch nieces or nephews. And I don't know for sure what Kate and Jodi's arrangement was -- IIRC, Jodi had the kids every Friday? I don't know that I'd want to be paid for that, just one day a week .. it might depend on whether or not I was feeding them meals, etc. Feeding children meals and snacks several times a month would add up.

Family stuff is tricky. It just is. And when it goes bad .. it just gets ugly. I don't agree with Kevin & Jodi did, I don't know their motives, nor do I know what their relationship was like with Jon and Kate before the show. It's impossible for me to judge whether they did right or wrong. Before it's all said and done, this thing will bring people out of the woodwork from Jon and Kate's past. That's what tabloid journalism does.

I don't think Jodi is a saint for trying to save the children, nor do I think she's the devil's spawn for telling her story. In the end, Kevin and Jodi have to live with the decisions they've made and the relationship they have with Jon, Kate, and the children.

Ten years ago, it was announced that the networks the big 3 were moving away from sitcoms and were going towards "reality tv". Why? because they didn't have to pay anyone for being on the show, except the winners.

The Amazing Race-3rd place won $10,000. That is nothing in the tv world, where actors in a sitcoms can be paid $250,000 an episode. The reality people, were on week after week and were not paid, except their 3rd place winnings. If they would have been paid for the 12 weeks, they would of made over $2 million for the season.

Many people go on reality shows to try and launch their careers and it wouldn't surprise me if Kate always had this on her agenda. Maybe not at first, but absolutely now.
