You won't find a more peace loving, liberal person than me, and I have to say that I have never seen so much hatred spewed than by the democratic party in this election. I can't believe you haven't seen it. Yes, it can come from both sides, yes there are freaks on both sides that are disgusting, but when it comes down to it, there is so much hatred coming from the Dems this year, it amazes me.

People become polarized and then blind I think. I can't imagine that some of the Dems here, that come to a DISNEY board to discuss politics (yes, I got sucked in one too many times) are really like this.

Will anyone look back on these boards after the election and be disgusted with themselves? I can't imagine how some couldn't be...but then again, I couldn't imagine the Democratic party ever being this rabid either.

Well, he still has time to register to vote. I couldn't vote in one election because I had gotten married and the registrar assumed I moved out of town. Very frustrating. That same year, my sister came home from grad school and was registered to vote even though she had an absentee ballot to vote in Illinois.

Well I have seen a lot on the con board...
and I am not saying dems have been free from mud sliinging..
however..
I have seen posts on the con board equating obama with hitler (sig Heil is what they heard int heir heads when folks were chanting obama)...and all of the talk about obama being a socialist... arab, muslim.... etc.

so yes i do believe that there has been more politics of fear coming from the right...

I personally am not blind... i always try to analyize my feelings, behavior and posts...
I am sure I have made mistakes... but at least I try...

If it sounds like if anyone needs a distraction, it sounds like Obama. Maybe he is just upset that a little of his true ideals slipped out, instead of the preprocessed middle of the road schpeel that he spouts every day.

Obama thinks there is a limited amount of money that is available to everyone, and if someone has a lot, they must give it to those with less. When in reality if you want more, make it for yourself! Don't rely on others to get you more. If the Obama sytem works so great, then what happened to the socialist countries of the world? Take a look around and tell us how great they are doing.

I am as broke as broke gets, but you know, I want to make my money, not have it handed to me. I also want to know that if I do bust my butt, make it big, that the federal govt is not going to penalize me for doing well, and just hand it to the ones who had no motivation to succeed! If you penalize success, then no one will have the desire to succeed, and we can all just stand in line and get our handouts.

Let the flames begin, but this is my opinion, and I will stick by it.

That in itself is not socialism, but as a whole, everything he is proposing is socialism.

That Glenn Beck video gave me chills, and I can't stand Glenn Beck. I'd love a link that shows that Michelle Obama actually said those things. (I"m sorry for the link request, but I really have a hard time trusting everything Beck says...He's one of those that does try to scare you out of your wits. We aren't talking about a tax break for the middle class, we are talking about penalizing the successful, and giving the money to the lower and middle class.

When you tax a company, who do you think pays that tax? The company? THINK AGAIN!!! YOU PAY THE TAX! It is called an embedded tax, the company only passes the tax on to the end consumer. There are no large companies that actually pay taxes, they merely pass them on, either to the end consumer or the shareholders (less dividends on the stock). So at some point, the company raises the price of their product or service and decreases their paid dividends to the point that the company is no longer competitive.

If company x builds widgets, and pays 25% tax on the widget, they sell the widget to you for $100, $25 dollars of that 100 is paid in taxes, when the tax is raised to 35% then they have to charge you $115. You as a consumer can buy the widget from China for $99, where are you going to buy it? Right, China, and the company stops making widgets, we loose jobs, and the taxes, and now to make up the difference we have to raise the taxes on all the other us widget makers to 40%... hmmmm Doesn't sound too good does it?

Now if a company makes widget x and pays 25% tax on the widget, they sell the widget for $100 and $25 dollars are paid to taxes, now if we give them a tax BREAK, they sell the widget for $100, pay $20 in taxes, and add on to the factory because they can now sell the widget for $95 and undercut the Chineese, they then hire new employees, pay more property tax, make more money, build bigger building, hire new employeess.... on and on.

But if you give the middle class a tax break and penalize big business, yes they will have MORE money to spend, unfortunately they will be buying widgets made in china. Think about it.

As far as the bank stuff. That is just bad business. That is large companies bowing to pressure form Washington to make home loans to anyone who applied. This is a problem that can be traced to both DEMS AND REPUBS. But most of all to the STUPIDITY of the consumer who thought that a ARM was a great idea, "cuz I can afford it this year, we will figure something out next year when it doubles"

To be honest, I don't know enough about the economics of the home load scandal to say who is at fault, and what the bailout is, heck I don't think anyone in washington is qualified to do that yet. LOL

Not that I think 39% is the correct rate but I would like to point out it is the tax rate we (DH & I) were paying before the Bush cut.

It also seems to be the rate that Obama thinks would enable him (If he is elected President and if it passes) to give the middle class a much need tax break.

All of this is so funny, I can't stand it. For weeks they have been calling anyone, who says Obama is a socialist, is a racist. We finally get proof that he is for wealth redistibution and now they can't defend it. So they go and attack Joe the Plumber to deflect Obama's socialist view.

Just last week I used the term "that's the a case of the pot calling the kettle black" when talking about the hypocrisy I saw on a Obama thread, and the racism card was dealt to me. It's like some are looking under every rock and under every bed to find something to label racist. When Obama wins this election and he will, I expect this behavior to increase dramatically with those who support him.

On this thread I noticed RobinB trying to imply something similar when the "tap dance/Sammy Davis Jr" analogy was used. Sammy Davis Jr was a great entertainer who could do it all, sing, dance, and act. His tap dancing was stuff of legend and when I think of anyone using the term "tap dance around a subject", I don't think racism, I think of Sammy. I am a fan of his since I was little and have great admiration for his skills. Truthfully I know of no one, including white people, that could match his talent. Just because Obama is a black American, doesn't mean it's off limits to use terms that may have the word black in it or people that are black themselves. This PC garbage is getting out of hand and I can't seem to keep up with the constant rule changes of what's off limits and what isn't
