The traveling party:

DH: 27 and slowly becoming a Disney lover
Me: 28 Loves all things Disney!!

Day 3 Sunday 9/07/03: Check in to BCV

This morning we awoke to a beautiful day – sun shining and minimal clouds. DH was already awake, not sleeping a lot. We decided to head out and fill his presc. and then head to BCV. It was about 9:30am when we checked out – HRH has this cute little drum that you can use for express check-out, which we gladly used since we just had the charge of the parking fee. DH didn’t understand why they charged to park at their hotel, but he got over it.

We head to Walgreen’s and get his meds and then we are off to Beach Club Villas. I just love the signs leading you to the hotels in WDW. I had to keep DH in line and give directions to the hotel – I think he was a little cloudy from lack of sleep. We pulled up to the guard and he gave us our parking slip. I knew which buildings were for BCV, so I just had DH park closest to the building and we grabbed our things and headed to the front desk. We didn’t even think to just pull up to the doors – I think we were both just really anxious to get going!! Tilly waited on us, and was very nice and offered tons of information on the resort. We purchased the UPH tickets, and she knocked off Saturday since we were leaving in the morning and wouldn’t be able to hit the parks anyway. She told us that she had two N/S rooms available, but if we wanted a specific room, we would need to wait. DH wanted to rest, so we opted for a ready room. We took room 165 – first floor facing Epcot (a 1 bedroom villa). We just LOVED the room when we entered and felt spoiled for having a kitchen and a BIG tub!! We situated our things, and by now it was 11:45am, and DH wanted to eat something before heading to bed to rest. We went to his favorite place – Beaches and Cream. DH ordered a cheeseburger and water, and I ordered a cheeseburger and cappuccino smoothie – YUM. DH had to eat slow and chew into small bites, and by half way through his sandwich, he said his poor mouth was tired from chewing so much. We took what was left in a to go box, and I ordered DH a vanilla shake to go – though it would feel good on his poor throat. We head back to the room, and DH gets into bed, and I opt to ahead and tour the world for a few hours, and then come back to check on him. He is full of meds now, and should sleep for a change.

I decide to go ahead and do some attractions that DH may not want to do. I take the walk through the International Gateway and *Boom* I am in Epcot. It is nice to be within walking distance of a park, and we use this walkway most of the week! I head over to Test Track first – even though I know DH will ride it, I just couldn’t pass it up since there was only a 5 minute wait!!! For once, it didn’t break down, though the screens in the car weren’t working. I then decide to head over and try Mission:Space. I had taken a Bonine earlier that day just in case I did this ride – I was covering all bases so I wouldn’t get sick. I walked right up and just entered the stand-by line and when I reached the loading area, there was a small line in front of me, but I notice that there is also a singles line. I missed this when I entered the stand by line, so I just swerve over and there is not a wait. When I get up to the front, the attendant wants a ticket – a ticket? I explain that I am a single rider, not a fastpass rider, and he says that you need a ticket to ride singles. I feel TOTALLY stupid, and start to turn around, and he tells me to go on and get in, just to get a ticket next time I ride. I felt so embarrassed, but was soon ushered into the queuing area for our briefing. You are standing on a number in a row of 4 other passengers. For this mission, I was the Navigator – oh boy I get to push some buttons!! J There are several warnings for those that don’t like small dark spaces or spinning – I HATE the tea cups, but figured this was different, so I decided to tough it out. We are then ushered to our loading areas, told about our assignment, and then another warning before we are allowed to board our ship. I stow my bag, pull down the harness and am ready to go. Let me say, that this is the neatest ride I have ever been on. I followed the instructions, kept my head back and eyes straight ahead, and was fine. It is just such a great experience – though I did notice many pasty looking people as I exited the ride.
I was happy, and decide to head over to MGM to ride TOT since DH doesn’t like it (he’ll ride RNR, but hates TOT for some reason). I decide to go back through the front and take a bus, though I am not sure why I didn’t just take a boat from the International Gateway. The bus is there quick, and I am soon on TOT – and sad to say, this is all I came to MGM today to ride. As I am entering the stand-by line, the attendant handed me what looked like a lanyard with a card on the end. She asked if I would give it to the bellhop when I get in – it helps them with wait times. I carry this in, and give it to the first bellhop – at first I thought it was a joke of some kind, but he took it and thanked me. I just love this ride. The drops are my favorite, though the effects are just something else!! I’ll be riding this again later!
I am now ready to head to Downtown Disney, and remember that the busses don’t go directly to DTD. I head over and take the boat to the Yacht Club, and just go to the Bus stop there. About 15 minutes later I am at DTD, and first head to the Christmas shop and do a little shopping. I look around the shops for a bit, and before I know it, it is close to 5:30pm. I head back to BCV to check on DH and see how he is doing. He is doing better, finally. His fever broke, and he actually slept some today, though he slept mostly on the couch in the living area.

He doesn’t feel much like going out, so I offer a plan. I wanted to eat at Portobello Yacht Club, and DH just doesn’t like their food. I tell him that I will go and eat there, and bring him something back. He takes the offer, and I get changed, and head back to DTD. I am seated right away, and I must mention that I HATE eating alone in a restaurant. The same goes for seeing a movie alone, I just don’t like it – I always feel like people are looking at the lone woman. Everyone was very nice, and I was seated right away. I ordered the house salad and the ribeye steak with parmigiano cheese crust – this is my absolute favorite, and it did not disappoint at all! Stuffed, I head back to BCV and stop at Beaches to get DH a burger, and he also requested a No Way Jose. I decide to get one and freeze it for later, and with food in hand, head back to the room. Dh is in better spirits, and while he still eats slow, he finishes his food, and is ready to dig into the sundae. Even when the sundaes are to go, they are in huge bowls!! I can’t even make it through half of mine, and decide to save the rest for later. DH watches his favorite show Whose Line is it Anyway, and we are then off to bed.

Tomorrow Day 4: Will DH be well enough to trek out into the fresh air and have a little fun? Stay tuned!!

Yay.. hubby is on the road to recovery... :)

Now is it feed a cold and starve a fever? or feed a fever and starve a cold? lol

Boy that freezer in your 1 bdrm unit is coming in handy with the sundae...

Glad you could have some fun if on your own... I know what you mean about feeling weird alone... even travelling alone with my DD9 people would ask if it was just the 2 of us..? Like I am man-less LOL Don't they know we have more fun leaving the men at home??

>>^..^<<

I'm so glad DH's fever finally broke! Hopefully he'll be able to start enjoying the World with you soon! :)
