I haven't look at the maps this morning...but we got a "special weather statement" here in Atlanta early this morning saying that Jean is headed straight for Vero. I was hoping it would turn and head back out to sea.

I'm so sad! We have a trip to Vero planned in April. I know it's a long way away...but I wonder what the beach and resort will be like then. DH is already talking about switching to HH.

Prayers for those who are in FL and the VB area! Please stay safe.

HURRICANE JEANNE TO POSSIBLY IMPACT NORTH AND CENTRAL GEORGIA EARLY NEXT WEEK... HURRICANE JEANNE WAS LOCATED ABOUT 240 MILES EAST OF THE SOUTHEAST FLORIDA COAST EARLY THIS MORNING. A LARGE UPPER-LEVEL RIDGE HAS DEVELOPED NORTH OF THE HURRICANE ACROSS THE MID-ATLANTIC REGION...WHICH HAS ALLOWED THE HURRICANE TO CONTINUE A WESTWARD MOTION. THE CURRENT FORECAST TRACK HAS HURRICANE JEANNE REACHING THE FLORIDA COAST NEAR VERO BEACH EARLY SUNDAY ...THEN TURNING AND MOVING NORTH ACROSS FLORIDA INTO SOUTHEAST GEORGIA BY EARLY MONDAY. JEANNE THEN CONTINUES A NORTHWARD TRACK...MOVING ACROSS CENTRAL SOUTH CAROLINA AND EASTERN NORTH CAROLINA MONDAY NIGHT AND TUESDAY. THERE REMAINS CONSIDERABLE UNCERTAINTY AS TO THE EXACT PATH THAT JEANNE WILL TAKE. IF JEANNE TRACKS MORE WESTWARD ACROSS GEORGIA ...IT WOULD HAVE A SIGNIFICANT IMPACT ON NORTH AND CENTRAL GEORGIA WITH MORE HEAVY RAIN AND STRONG WINDS. RESIDENTS OF NORTH AND CENTRAL GEORGIA SHOULD PAY VERY CLOSE ATTENTION TO FORECASTS AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS OR WATCHES THAT MAY NEED TO BE ISSUED DURING THE WEEKEND.

How sad, we just got the letter to Vero owners yesterday regarding the re-opening after the last hurricane came through.

I hope there's still a chance that the course changes and it makes it's curve north without hitting land.

That stinks. The poor CMs are getting pummeled there. I mean this would mean more of them will be temp laid off KWIM? God this stinks.

Guess we need to enjoy the weather then this weekend Katie?

It's been pretty incredible all week, hasn't it? We had our windows open til yesterday when it got a little too warm and humid. Every year when the weather starts to cool down a little and the humidity drops...I remember why I love living here so much! October and April are my favorite times of year!

I worry for the CMs too...I can't even imagine what they are going through.

MILs Barefoot Bay/Melbourne house lost its front porch, shed and car port with the last hurricane. Friends of hers lost their home. Please dont let there be any more damage.
GO AWAY JEANNE!

I was on the 9/11 Magic and asked the DVC guides about Vero. They told me that after Frances a management team went to Vero and had a meeting with all the CMs there. They brought their paychecks since the usual systems were down. They offered free lodging at WDW to any CMs and their families whose homes were uninhabitable, discounted lodging to those whose homes were moderately damaged and access to money from the fund already set up to aid CMs who had damage after Charley.
How many other companies did something like that? And this meeting was a short time after Frances hit!
My prayers are with all those who are facing the prospect of a another hurricane.::yes::
