My son REALLY wants to ride this ride and I know its not like a coaster or anything like that but how "scary" is it??? I have reservations about taking him on but am looking to those who have ridden it, is it appropriate for an almost five year old?

My daughter at 4 went on it. We made sure she was far far far away from the one end (left side as you go in the boat). I put her the furthest away as possible.

She went on again at 6, and it wasn't that bad.

We went last week and my five year old rode this ride and loved it!! We placed him in between us towards the middle of the row. He thought that the "burnt" shark was funny :) Go figure...

My four year old daughter loves this ride. It is one of her favorites. She doesn't think it is scary at all. But, my 7 year old son that gets scared easily hates this ride. So, I think it just depends on the child.

Personally, I wouldn't recommend it. I'm 4 times his age and I still jump out of my seat in the boathouse. And I ride other thrill rides without so much as a flinch.

My son who just turned 4 right before we left last July LOVED it. He really wasn't afraid at all. However 51/2 year old dd was scared to death. It all depends on the child.

My son went on it when he was 3yo and scared of a lot of rides (Back to the Future, Spiderman, coasters, etc) and he thought jaws was funny. He went again at 4yo and still liked it (he now loves any rides, the faster, the better).

T&B

AdventurerKat please report back if you try it! I rode Jaws with my mother in March without the boys and there is enough suspense and a scary fire that I decided my 4 year old could not do it. He'll be 5 in Feb when we return, and I doubt he will be able to handle it then either. Anything physical he has no fear, but psychological suspense really gets him. I guess it depends on the child. Have fun!

Every child is different. When we were there last, a child who looked to be around 9 or 10 was crying, and his 6 or 7 year old brother was fine. You never can tell. I'd say to try it, but don't be surprised if you get the opposite reaction than you thought.
