January 2010. . . Anyone else going???

:yay: I was rudely awaken to dog snoring at 3am,and too anxious to fall back alsleep because i knew it was ADR morning,so i called in at 7am and all wishes were granted in true disney style :woohoo:

jan 3rd-WC breakfast GG supper
jan 4th-kona breakfast Boma dinner
jan 5th- cape may's breakfast
jan 6th- le cellier
jan 7th- mama melrose fantasmic package :thumbsup2
jan 8th-T-Rex (i didn't book this yet,but don't expect any problems)

I may do OOP for kona breakfast and try out pier 37 on the 9th,or throw a WC or kona supper in there somewhere.:confused3

that's my news for today, now i am trying to figure out how to make a room request if i am renting DVC points,I can't call DVC,can i call WLV ? anybody know the answer to this?

Hello -
We are coming up on our ADR day on 10/10, and I am getting more nervous by the posting...any ideas out there for first timers? There is so much information, i am finding it overwelming:confused3
My best guesses are:
Castle
Luau
Maybe Hoop de doo

i have not yet decided to do the dining plan, since we are not huge eaters and i dont think we will get our moneys worth. Any thoughts on skipping the dining plan?

Thanks all!:hippie:

Hi!

If you are renting DVC points the member you are renting from will have to add the request to your reservation, so you'll have to reach out to them, then they can call member services. I hope this helps :goodvibes

i am heading to WDW on a very unexpected surprise birthday trip from my mom!!
we are going together for MLK weekend (jan. 15 - 18th) and staying at POFQ! :cheer2: :cheer2: ive never stayed there before so im really looking forward to it!

I got all ADR's I asked for, the CM I dealt with was fantastic.:cool1:

4th Jan Le Cellier Dinner
5th Jan CRT Breakfast (was really worried we wouldn't get this)
Hoop-de-doo review 7.15 show
6th Jan SciFi Dinner
7th Jan Fantasmic Dinner Package Mama Melrose
8th Jan Libertry Tree Taver Dinner
9th Jan Whispering Canyon Cafe Dinner

I have no idea what I'm in for and have based all my bookings on opinions of others! I'm sure this is preferable to just 'winging it'.

I changed my CRT booking twice and got the times I requested all 3 times. So was stressing for nothing.

Haven't made a booking for 2nd and 3rd, we won't have park tickets on the 2nd so not sure what to do that evening? ideas anyone?
3rd I might just hope for the best and go with whatever comes up!:wizard:

ok this is tough because I don't how long you will be there and how many are in your group. Give me this info and I can break down the dining plan and the best way to use it for those who don't eat a lot!

I can tell you how we would do it if we wanted to dine at signature restaurants that require 2 TS per person:
Let's say there are 4 of us...2 A and 2 C and we will be there for 5 days. this gives us:
20 TS (Table service)
20 QS (Quick Service)
20 snacks

The TS are broken down like this: 10 Child and 10 Adult. The QS are not but you probably won't be able to walk up to a QS window and order 4 Adult QS cause your card says 2 A and 2 C. Here's how I would do it:

Monday: Luau Dinner: 8 TS (4 A 4 C)
breakfast: 4 snacks
lunch 2 adult QS...each adult share the meal with a child cause it IS usually enough food

Tues: Hoop Dee Doo Dinner: 8 TS (4 A 4 C)
lunch 2 QS
breakfast 4 snacks

wed: breakfast at castle: 4 TS (2 A 2 C) and cash for 1 A and 1 C
late lunch 4 snacks
dinner 2 QS

Thurs:
breakfast 4 snacks
lunch 2 QS
dinner 2 QS

Fri
same as thurs.

this uses all of your entitlements and uses stretches them to meet your needs. I don't know the exact prices for the luau, the hoop dee doo, or the castle, but I'm guessing that per person, the cost of the castle for breakfast is the least expensive and that's the meal I would pay cash for 1 adult and 1 child (whichever one is cheapest in price). Hope this helps! with more information about your trip, I can help more ;)

Hey there North Royalton!!! :goodvibes Have fun on your trip!!

For a day you don't have park passes, head to Downtown Disney. We love to eat at the T-Rex or Fultons but they have tons of dining options and lots of shopping too.

Thanks very much Kindra. I am going to mull over this in the "quiet hours" tonight. I really appreciate your help. BTW we have 2 adults and 3 children, staying 7 nights club level at Poly, so I am hoping to eat snacks in the lounge too.

I like the idea of using snacks for breakfasts and lunch However, I can not seem to find any good snacks for breakfast and lunch. Is there a list somewhere that has all the items that are snacks on the dining plan?
THanks.

Since some of the posts are long, I didn't want to quote....

We were actually thinking about doing the DP. But the more we talked about the plan and compared it to where we actually wanted to eat, coupled in with the extraneous snacks that end up getting spent on junk, I think we've decided to go OOP and ask for some Disney Dollars for Christmas (that's my idea anyway).

CRT isn't worth the two credits for the cost of the buffet. We want to try Raglan Road and have a DTD night planned. And the other "would like to try" is San Angel (not on DDP) and Biergarten--another buffet not worth the TS credit. If we go in hot weather, we always say German food is too heavy. But we can get great Mexican and German in our area. So, it's tough.

But we were starting to feel overwhelmed and limited by the DDP.

My $.02.

CRT is NOT a buffet! :) You might be thinking of the princess meal @ Akershus in Epcot! CRT is a plated meal for all 3 meals! :goodvibes

San Angel IS on the DDP. It may not currently be listed on the current DDP brochure but that will be updated by the end of December! :goodvibes

Not trying to be picky - just want to make sure everybody has the correct info! :goodvibes

I just meant CRT wasn't worth 2 credits for the price fixe. Also, San Angel Inn is not appearing on the 2010 dining plan sheet.

Either way, we think it still stresses us out and that it's too much food.

Does the 10 day + work online?

It didn't work for me, I ended up calling. When I orignally called, 6am (est), 6pm here, the line was closed until 7. Not sure if daylight saving has changed hours there recently? I think calling may have been quicker than it would of been for me on the web. Now I just need to figure out if I can make changes to the res on the web. :upsidedow

We are still going, the dates are the same but now we are DVC members, at AKL!! We are going and staying in one of the studio rooms! I am so excited to be members!! This is the best thing ever!!

I had to postpone our January trip (notice I did NOT say cancel) I'm having knee surgery at the end of October and a total hip replacement in December. I'm consoling myself with the fact that I will be able to walk like there's no tomorrow on our next trip! Up early in the morning and staying out for the fireworks!

Got my ADRs this morning:

Day 1 - Fantasmic/Brown Derby
DAy 2 - Chef Mickey character breakfast - Crystal Palace is closed for renovation from Jan 3-mid Feb:(. Anyone know where we can still see Piglet and Pooh???
Day 3 - Tusker house breakfast
Day 4 - Citricos - Narcoosee's seemed to be booked but we're going to call back and see if that really is the deal
Day 5 - Dolphins in depth tour - uh, not dining, but you know what i mean.:rotfl:
Day 6 - free day
Day 7 - Yachstman steakhouse

Might add a few others but don't want to be too locked in.
