January 2010. . . Anyone else going???

It kind of messed up my plans too. BUT, if you want to see Fantasmic you will HAVE to go on a "avoid" day to HS. Since I really love Fantasmic, we will just have to bite the bullet and go anyway. Basically, to follow touring plans you have to avoid any extra hour day, any day with fantasmic, any day with Spectromagic...some times I just don't want to miss those things! But it still helps to keep that in mind. Personally, I think Fantasmic is well worth a wait. Maybe not a 2 hour wait, but an hour wait is no problem for me. At that time of the day I am ready to rest for a while anyway. It is a bit loud and scary for some kids. It really depends on the child and their age. If they are not scared easily I would say don't miss it. Some things scared my 4 year old grandson a couple of years ago (dark rides) but he loved Fantasmic. I think it is a wonderful show though.

:goodvibes Thanks Karla! :)

Our girls will be told of our trip tomorrow so they will also have input into the trip! This years trip was a complete surprise. We told them 2 weeks before leaving! They enjoyed the surprise because they had never been before! This time we want them to help with the planning! They both have lots of ideas and opinions on what they want to do!

Our biggest decision right now is whether or not to HOP! We started off not hopping last trip but by the last 3 days there was still so mych we wanted to see and do that we decided to hop for our last 3 days! Considering hopping for the whole time this time but not sure if we wsnt to fork out the extra $200+ for the luxery! :confused3

I am so glad that park hours came out this soon before having to make our ADRs! This gives me oodles of time to get a plan in place before making our ADRs on the 27th! :surfweb:

How do we get these Southwest deals?? I would love to book for 59 or 69 one way!
Thanks!

There are 2 ways. Get on the SWA e-mail list and they will notify you when they have sales. Also you can download their "Ding" fare notifier. It will give you the "DING" specials each day. They usually have a few every day that are on a ding. The ding specials are usually only good for a few hours each day. They are also for fairly close trips (1-2 months away tops). The sales are normally good for a few days and may go 3-4 months out. Anymore you can usually get just as good a deal on the sales as you do on the dings. It used to be that the ding specials were awesome. Also, if you find a special on SWA after you have already booked, you can get the flight changed and keep the credit on your account for future use within a year. They are very good about letting you change your flights and no penalties are assessed. Just go to Southwest.com and you can sign up for e-mails and dings.

How old are your girls? It is great that you will let them be involved in planning. I know what you mean about hopping. I love to have the luxury, but it is expensive. I find that when it is just dh and I we love to hop. But when we have the little ones with us it gets to be too much trouble to hop around. So I try to plan our meals a little better. It also depends on how long our trip is also. This trip is going to be 9 days so I don't think we will have to hop, we will have time to see everything we want. Have a great trip!

Congrats on doing your first full marathon!!! 2009 WDW was my first full and I was so excited! I could barely sleep the night before.

Can I ask your opinion??? Do you have any good suggestions on where to eat the night before the marathon? We were thinking Tony's would be a good place to go but it's not really on my list of places I want to eat? Do you have any suggestions? Thanks :goodvibes

A couple weeks ago, DH said, we shouldn't go until we sell the townhouse. Well that hasn't happened.

However, his parents bought DVC last week with banked 08 points, 09 points and '10 point given yesterday. So, who better to burn those 08 points? :rolleyes1

We're staying at BWV, Jan 21-25.

Now for plane ressies and ADRs (and a ticker). We can't wait! I'm already checking the train schedule for when to pick up DH on the way to the airport and what time to pick up DD. Am I a little ahead of myself?

My dsil is running the 1/2 marathon. I have been planning, keeping him in mind. We are going to go to POR and get a counter service meal the night before the race. They have a build your own pasta bar. Other places I have considered are CSR Pepper Market as they also have a build your own pasta, Tutto Italia in EP and Tonys in MK. Good luck on your run!

I'm one of those odd people that can't do pasta before a race. I ate at the Scifi Drive-In for my dinner the night before the race and I had a chicken sandwich.

I know the hotel I was staying at (ASMu) had a special for the runners. They had a pasta dinner and it looked like a decent serving. I would guess most of the resort hotels will offer something special for the runners to carbo load.

Sorry I'm not any help on this.

Mind if I join you snowbirds?
I just booked a January trip for me and my 2 kids. I took them last October and was just there a few weeks ago with a friend for a grownups trip. I hadn't planned on taking them back again for another year or so, but then the 4/7 came out, $59 fares on Southwest, they have 4 days off the week of MLK bday, the planets aligned, so I guess we are going!
We'll be at CBR Jan 15 - 23 - haven't stayed there before. Thinking about adding QSDP, and trying to keep costs around 2K as we have a house renovation planned and a family trip to Europe next summer. I will plunge heavily into planning soon, so looking forward to sharing ideas here.

My themes for this trip are: keeping costs down, finding something special to do for DD's birthday, having a more relaxed trip with lots of down time and time to do things we never seem to get to.

Thanks for the info! :cheer2: I have been trying to decide if I want to go with the Dining Plan this time. It was so great last year with the family but I'm not to sure if it will be worth it this time :confused3 I know for sure that I want to go to "Ohana's for dinner after the race but if the QS at the hotels are going to have build your own pasta :confused3 So may questions so little time

Couple things. Looks like you have a child with you....how did you choose Akershus over CRT? This may become a "bone of contention" between DH and I.

Second--and for anyone else--how does +10 work? I leave 1/21, staying 4 nights. Can I reserve on 10/11? +10 really confuses me, but I don't want to miss out either. (yes, staying on property)

TIA!!!!

Is there any place you can see if the extra magic hours are morning or evening. I am looking at the park hours on the Disney website and I don't see where it says morning or eve. :confused3 Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. Found them in a previous post. Thanks.....

So if your first night is Jan 21 then your 90 days is Oct 23. On Oct 23 you can book ADR's for Jan 21 through Jan 31 instead of waiting everyday and calling back you can book them all (up to 10 days) on the 90 day mark. I hope that makes sense :confused3 I don't know if I explained it very good ;)

If you look at the monthly calander on the Disney website instead of the 10 day schedule it tells you the EMH times.

We didn't really even consider CRT to be honest. My DD is 3 and she loves all the princesses. Akershus was a no brainer for us, especially being only one credit. Plus, my DH doesn't really have a preference as far as the character meals, they are all the same to him...I'm the crazy Disney lover (/obsessive planner:rotfl:) in our house :goodvibes

Woohoo just got conformation from our travel agent we got all the ADR's we wanted. Which is really exciting, because we have some pretty popular places. The only redo for me is Coral Reef and everything is new to DD. Now I feel the excitement building.

Friday Jan. 1 Captain’s Grill 6:45pm
Saturday Jan. 2 Coral Reef 6:10pm
Sunday Jan. 3 Cape May Café 5:30pm
Monday Jan. 4 Chef Mickey’s 8:30am
Tuesday Jan. 5 Le Cellier 6:35pm

I was just telling DH that Friday at 2am (our time) I can start making those ADRs. Only crazy obsessive planners are up at that hour making ADRs!:lmao: We aren't planning many TS meals. DD & DSIL would rather try out the QSDP. They don't want to spend much time/money for the TS meals. So we are hoping for Chef Mickeys Breakfast, Ohanas Dinner, Donalds Breakfastsaurus and Sci Fi. Otherwise we are planning to hit the CS restaurants and try to get a few nicer CS meals. After going during free dining for the past few trips I am really going to miss that TS meal every day! I'm spoiled!
