January 2008 Code Watch

If the free park hopper thing comes out and I add it, will I lose my AAA discount? I am saving $120 with AAA-

You would lose your AAA discount if you went with a code that gives you free park hopper and water parks. There is a one code per reservation limit, and your AAA discount counts as a code (anyone feel free to correct me if I am wrong about this).

I'm curious about that too. Guess I'd ahve to see how much of a savings I would lose, I think I'm at about a $200 room savings off YC, gotta weigh it.

Just an FYI...we went to WDW in late JAN/early FEB in 2006 and 2007. I am pretty sure that the codes for that time frame came out the very last week of OCT/first week of NOV both times. So be on the lookout around Halloween!

I was told that you cannot use both the AAA discount and another discount code at the same time.

We always get MYW with dining plus park hoppers, and stay at ASMo. On a 7 nights/6 days trip I believe our savings was over $300 with the code that gave free park hoppers plus water parks and a small discount on the room cost. I always book the package and put down the deposit, then when the discount code comes out I just call reservations and apply the code to my existing ressie. We didn't pay for the trip until just before the balance was due - at 45 days before trip date.

Just trying to make sure I understand.. we are going in January for 9 days and thinking about going back for another 8-9 days later next year and thinking about AP's.. if we do we will probably make a few short trips also..

I called WDW about my current reservation at All star sports and the person said that I could keep my current ressie as AS Sports does not have any more preferred rooms avl for when we will be there so we wont lose the room and I can cancel my MYW tickets and either purchase my annual passes ahead of time or when I get there and then if an AP code comes out I can get a % off the room..

Can I do this if I wait and get AP while at WDW or do I have to have the AP when I change the ressie??

You have to have the AP in hand when you check in. You do not need it to make or change an AP reservation.

What happens if a resort you have booked already is sold out when a code comes out? Can you still apply a code to a reservation you already have or would they not allow the code since they are not really trying to fill empty rooms? We're booked at FW and it is completely booked. TIA! Christy

The CM I talked to yesterday told me that you can just have it applied to the booking you already have..

My scenario is that I currently am booked with All star Sports in a preferred room and there are no more avl for the times I will be there.. I originally booked with MYW tickets but we are looking at going back several more times within the 12 months following this trip so it looks like annual passes will be the way to go for us.. He gave me the amt that we are paying for just the room minus the MYW tickets and then gave me prices for the ap's and said that I can call back once I decide, and cancel the myw tickets and put it as a room only reservation and then when an AP code comes out I can call back and can get the AP discount and keep the same room I have since they are completely booked..

Sorry to ramble.. hope this helps..

Thanks.. Thats what the CM said.. I just wanted to make sure cause than this gives me more time to get all the funds together as we're paying on another trip also..

This may sound like the same question again, but I think it's a little different. (or maybe it's just my mind...LOL)

Suppose I booked a package using AAA as the travel agent? Is it possible to apply a code then or would it depend on whether the code is good for a package (vs...like...room only?)

Sorry if I'm being a pest if this has been covered already.

We've booked Pop Century for 1/26-2/3 with MYW w/dining, but I know I can still change my package up to my final payment date.

(Can't wait...Can't wait...Can't wait...!!)

Maybe it was just my agent, but we booked thru AAA last year and when a code came out he told me that I couldn't do that thru him as my discount was better (questionable). And when I tried to book thru Disney, there were no rooms available anywhere except AK for my days (IN JANUARY!!!). So we never got the discount or ticket upgrades. But we still had a wonderful time:hippie:

This time I am booking direct and on my own. Not sure if it was the best decision, but I like having more control over everything.

sorry.. I have one more question.. what if my trip is Jan 25- Feb 2nd.. since my check in is in January and if/when I apply a code, is it good till the end of my stay or only the days in January?? would I have to look out for a February code also for those days??

I would guess that the code will go through the end of value season (2/13). But for 2008, your room rate may fluctuate with holidays and weekends.

HTH!

This would be assuming that they release an AP rate for All Star Sports and that it's good on both Standard and Preferred rooms. They don't always release AP rates for each & every resort. They may release a rate for POP but no other values - you never know what they will release...so definitely hang onto your ressie until the AP rates are released for your ressie time...

We have a room booked in January at the DVC Villas at Wilderness Lodge with our DVC discount - but I am also hoping for an AP rate at the Wilderness Lodge - that would be a bigger discount IF THEY RELEASE ONE... If they don't, then at least we have this ressie...but another 10 or 15% off would be helpful!! That would be enough savings to be worth re-booking!:goodvibes

Some people have been getting codes through their email. I didn't but called to see if I had a code attached to my reservation and I did. I save $100 on each of the rooms that I have reserved at the POP for a total of $200.00

Doesn't hurt to call and ask if there is one attached to your reservation.

If you don't mind me asking when are you going?? I JUST called the 1st question I was asked was when I was going I said Jan. ( did not even get January out) and she said "NOPE, no discounts at all for January try again in November) then before I could even say another word I was transfered over to the survey!!!!!:sad1: :sad1: :sad1: :sad1:
I am going Jan. 13th - 19th, I am booked with Dreams Unlimted and using AAA.
What I would do for a email with a pin code!!!!!

We are going January 20-27th. When I called I asked if I had any codes attached to my reservation. She then asked for my confirmation number and looked it up. I see that you booked with Dreams - I did my own reservation through Disney's call center. So you may have to call the travel agent.

Good luck - I would try again. I figure it was about a 15% discount for a room only reservation.

If a resort is really totally booked, they probably won't have any discounted availability showing for your resort. That's why sometimes they may only offer a discount at Pop instead of all values, or at the Epcot resorts, but not other deluxes. A lot of people had this problem in 2006 in December - they had all booked rooms at WL and when the AP discounts came out, WL was pretty much booked solid. So all these people with booked rooms were calling trying to get the code applied, only to be told that there was no discounted availablity. They had the choice of switching resorts to get a discount, or keeping the reservation they had with no discount.

I have the same problem at least once a year. That's why I sometimes get to use an AP discount, sometimes AAA, and occasionally, I've even paid rack rate.
