Jan 2009 Code Watch

When people double and triple book, they're filling rooms that they're technically not going to use. They determine what kind of discounts will be released by the number of available rooms they have in a resort, so if someone has three different reservations, especially at the same resort, then Disney could think the resort is filled and not offer availability at that resort, or lesser availability anyways. Then, when those people cancel their ressies, the rooms they had booked with discounts don't go back to the pool of available discounted rooms, they go back to the pool of rack rated rooms, so less people can take advantage of the deal.
At least that's what I've figured out from reading these boards...

Exactly! Isn't that nice.

well it's noon now who going to call and see if new rate is out

You know Tinkbyday you obviously have the $ to stay at the finest resorts on property. I have never even stayed on property and being able to save every little bit is very important to my family. It determines what we get to do and what we don't (Value resort). I'm not canceling my rooms and I'll bet you there are a bunch of others out here that just aren't saying anything.

I checked chase called chase and cro twice I keep checking wdw site and chase and mousesavers(great site).

Thank you for posting this. Guests making multiple reservations is one of my biggest pet peeves for the reason you just stated.

This is precisely the reason that WDW only lets you make a hold for 7 days instead of 14 for 2009. They are hoping people won't do this if they have less time to put a deposit down.

My biggest pet peeve is people who decide to be the morality police in a thread where I am trying to get information and I have to wade through 3 pages of lectures but that didn't stop you from posting just like you aren't going to stop her from making 2 reservations. It happens, people pool hop, tell Disney their kid is 2 and not 3, share a photopass and reuse their refillable mugs and no lecture from the DIS is going to change their minds.

I guess I have to give up on code for today as I have errands to run - here's hoping we get one tomorrow!:wizard:

Yes, it actually was you and MAGGIED that have (or had) multiple reservations. Regardless of how or who you book them with, you are holding two rooms and MAGGIE was holding three. Now imagine if everyone did that - Disney would not offer any discount because they would show all rooms booked all the time.

Disney, undoubtedly, has historical databases and yield management analytical tools. They can model this double or triple-booking effect based on prior behavior. The company has conditioned us to react to historical discounts. My guess is that, historically, this behavior is captured in their analysis resulting in a predictable % of rooms becoming available after discounts are released. They probably build this into their offers (both what discounts to offer and how many rooms to offer the discounts on). It is similar to what airlines do when they overbook. Airlines do this, ostensibly, because x% of people fail to show for their airline reservations. If the airlines didn't overbook, so goes their theory, these seats would remain unfilled. This is all speculation on my part though.

Today is the last day to order discounted tickets for the MK Halloween Party on disneyrewards.com (Disney VISA). Surely, they'll take that off by tomorrow. Maybe that's when they'll post new offers...

Does anyone know, if the AP disc isn't available at POFQ (which it isn't) would it be safe to assume that a general disc or canadian disc probably won't be available there either?

Our family has 5 rooms booked at POFQ. I have an AP and moving to POR would save me $405. If a general disc comes out and it saves everyone money, then everyone will be happy to move. But I don't want to bother changing resorts for our whole party of 13 if I'm the only one saving. Or if we stay at POFQ and the general disc applies there, just not the AP disc, then I don't mind getting a bit of a smaller disc, to keep the whole family happy and saving some cash.

I spoke with Chase last PM and they have no idea about codes or discounts. The CSM told me to "keep checking the site"---If I hade a quarter for every time that I have heard that. Keeping my fingers crossed for a code. (I would take the mouse ears...I am so impatient!!!) :flower3:

ack, i have a screa, ming baby in my arms and can't wade through all the posts--IS THERE A CODE YET for Jan 1-Jan 8?????? Thanks for helping! I am desperate to upgrade our package to AKL like we did last year!!!

Not as far as we can tell. But keep watching! :surfweb: popcorn::

Wow, I didn't meant to open up such a huge issue by mentioning making 2 ressies. Based on what I had read here, I honestly thought it was a typical mode of operation. But I can see where that is unfair to others who are trying to book a room also.

Crossing my fingers & toes for a discount on the suites or better yet the dining plan!!

We'll see about tomorrow with Visa but don't be surprised if we see a GP code and no visa code for a while...that's what happened last time codes came out for fall.
