Thats whats so wondeful about Akl. The view and the layout is great. i felt like a kid seeing all the animals outside my window.


I was thinking of going DVC at one time but cant see investing in it yet. Lot of money but i am glad AKL has it now.

We're not going on vacation this year either. My DD is getting married in November. She waited until recently to start making arrangements.

I'm glad to hear all the reports on NOT seeing/hearing the construction. I am still worried about that little snafu for our Sept. trip, but hopefully it'll be done inside by then..... We have still been wavering between the two lodges, and it's a tough call, ya know?

Hey kimmar! Things have been a little nuts around here the past couple of weeks. But the good news is that I've FINALLY graduated from my Leadership class. We had our ceremony 5/17!

I also have a question about check out. We will be going back to the parks on our check out date before we head out for a late flight. Will the resort hold our luggage? We'll be using ME so we'll have a specific time to be back at the resort. We've always just flown out in the early morning and so going back to the parks will be new for us. Thanks!

...first of all, CONGRATS on the graduation ......AKL will ABSOLUTELY hold your luggage for you while you go to the parks; just make sure to get back to the AKL at that specific time, since ME might be making pickups at other resorts before heading to MCO....

I hope I am not intruding here but can they send it straight to the airport for you at AKL? We checked our bags at GF last visit and took ME luggage free if I rememebr correctly! If not I am sure they will hold your luggage!

OMG yes! I have seen giraffees, zebras, kudu, ankole cattle, and elands right from my deck! I have loved it so much that I purchased AKV yesterday. ( I had been oscillating between SSR & AKV) I can't believe how close they come sometimes.

Congrats on the purchase!!! I hope you are tkaing tons of pictures to share with us!!!

We are back after a stay of three nights at the AKL and just wanted to report about Standard Room Concierge...and the view we had (the BEAUTIFUL VIEW we had). We had rooms 4305, 4227 and 4272 on the Kudu Trail...outside our balcony (4305 Arusha Savanna) we could see Giraffes, Pelicans, Impalas, Zebras, Kudu..with a great view of Arusha Rock Overlook.
Room 4272 (Sunset Savanna) view was also as wonderful with Giraffes, Ostrich, wish I could remember all of the animals...but this view was as good as rooms 4305 and 4227 just no view of Arusha Overlook... the concierge lounge was not that far away and the walk was easy, they were trying out a new menu in the concierge lounge...and like a nit...I forgot to pick-up the letter with the new foods on it..sorry...but I can tell you this it was good!
I can and will answer any questions you may have....OH! construction.. rooms 4305 and 4227...never heard or saw it...room 4272 could hear it...not loud and see some of it...

Hey everyone! Well since we have to postpone our trip till Aug 2008 due to DH getting deployed in Sept, I am splurging and booking a savannah view. I have plans to wake up EARLY in the morning around 6am and look at the animals before we head out for the parks and breakfast. Plus plan on taking some food back from the Mara a couple morning and eating on our balcony while animal watching. Now I've heard that the following have been great rooms for savannah. Please let me know if these are still good rooms and feel free to add to the list:

KUDU - 3210-3255 and 4210-4255
ZEBRA - 3423-3437 and 4423-4437

If there are other rooms with GREAT views please let me know. I will NOT mind walking long distance to my room if it means I get a great view. I am paying for the view, NOT for how close it is to everything. Besides cant be worse staying at the GF all the way on the 4th floor in the Boca Chica building. Talk about a LONG walk from the buses and monorail!

Also how do I go about putting a room request in? Do I call them or can I fax them or have my AAA TA put the request in or just request it when I get there? How far in advance should I put the request in?

A question about the construction... I was told by the CM when we booked that construction would start at 8 am - 6 pm. Well I read somewhere on the DIS that construction began at 7 am - 8 pm. Could anyone who is recently back confirm the times? I refuse to be woke up at 7 am during my vacation as we're not commando style and would like to sleep in. 8 a.m. isn't a problem at all but 7 is.
