We originally had reservations at AKL for May 10-19. We had it marked on our reservations and again called the front desk a couple days before we went that we wanted a quiet room away from construction due to my migraine issues. Both CRO and the front desk insisted there was no inside constuction going on. We had a ressie for a deluxe savannah view, as we needed to sleep 5 people. The first room they put us in was 5260 . . . you could both see the outside construction and hear the continual beeping of the construction vehicles. We asked for a second room, once again stated no noise, and got 5202, right off the lobby. We couldn't seem to get a zebra trail room . . . don't know if that's because there are no deluxe savannah rooms on that side or what?????? Could still see the outer construction site, but didn't hear any of the noise. The first 2 mornings, we saw quite a few of the animals (mostly giraffes . . .which was fine with my giraffe lover). But saw nothing Sunday, then Monday morning our animal view was replaced with a view of pickup trucks and men digging a hole in front of our window. We asked about it and was told that it had to do with the animal habitat, not the construction. Whatever it was, there were no animals, and I watched as the animal feeders were removed from the trees in the area. Tuesday morning, still no animals, now the men were filling up the hole they'd dug the previous day. Could still obviously tell the giraffe feeders were not in the trees. And the inside drilling started. It was loud from our room, and horribly loud when you got to the lobby. We asked about moving, and was told that there was no deluxe savannah room available where we would not hear either the inside construction or the outside construction. That, paired with the lack of animal viewing from our savannah room view for 3 days straight, led us to take them up on the offer to find another deluxe hotel room for us. . . we ended up spending the rest of our stay at the Contemporary. . . 9th floor. Opposite side of their construction. . .but you could still hear Chef Mickey going on. ROFL These were definitely not the quietest hotel rooms we've ever had!
