I'm so excited! I just booked AKL for a 1 night quick trip! It's our first time there, but we've been in love with it since we first saw it in 2000.

I had booked Pop at the passholder's rate, and then a few days later realized there was no reason why we could use this overnight to get a little taste of AKL! So I switched.

We're actually on our way to a cruise (RCI) and just needed to fly in from Omaha the night before, so we'll arrive in the evening, and if we have time, hit a park, but if not, we'll be at AKL! Quick swim, soak in the hot tub, then just enough time the next morning to go to AK and ride Everest a half dozen times, then off to Cape Canaveral!

There are definitely advantages to having an annual pass! ;-)

Always ;-)

A few more AKL pictures. The first two are of a treat we had ordered to be left in the room on our last night:

47 hours till we're checking in!!

WOW - how exciting!!!! Have a wonderful vacation. Your children's first trip - awwwww! And what a great resort you picked for relaxing! (Congratulations on the addition to your family - just make sure you do plenty of relaxing - don't overdo it.) pixiedust:

Thanks Laura! Relaxing? What's that?! LOL Remember I have a 4 year old and a 2 year old! LOL We only have 5 days on land before we head off to the WONDER for 4 nights. I'm sure I'll get more relaxing time on the ship than in the parks! LOL

 That's true! My youngest is 14 so I 'forgot' how life is with little ones!! :)

Take lots of pictures and let us know how much fun your family had when you return home, OK?! Bon Voyage!

LOL Definitely, Laura! I'll be posting a trip report as well and adding the links to those in my siggy after we get home.

I know most likely to get the chocolate covered strawberries you call AKL & ask to speak with private dinning, then you order them from them. They ask for the date you want them delivered & then you possibly have to call back day of as like a reminder. That's how I've heard it works at the other resorts.

As far as price, I've searched & one thread said $2 - $3 per strawberry, but that was not at AKL, so that's just a guess.

Is it true that when checking in they tell you not to change your clothes in the room but rather the bathroom. Someone told me that they tell you this, because there are so many cameras pointed at the rooms to make sure noone throws anything at the animals. Just wondering....:rotfl:

There is a sign on the sliding door to close your drapes for privacy because of the cameras that monitor for things falling over that might harm the animals.

No. There are warnings that cameras are observing the balconies and animal areas and that, if you want privacy, to close your drapes.

I'd also add that, considering animal watching is a pretty big part of the resort, and many guests bring binoculars, etc....it's not a bad idea ANYWAY. Someone out on their balcony, trying to get a good look at that zebra 1/2 way across the savannah, might see a bit more than they bargained for, otherwise.

:)
