We will be staying at AKL for the first time Sept. 2. We have reserved two standard rooms for myself, dh, two ds's and df. I have a dilemma. My father is unable to sleep in a regular bed. He needs his head extremely elevated. Is there a possibility of getting either a day bed or some kind of recliner in our room?

You guys won't flame me for not liking zebra domes, right?

:confused3

Okay, my question today is who is booked in December?

I was staying at AKL Dec 13 - 17 and then 2 nights at GF, but now I have switched it to all at AKL Dec 13 - 19.

Will any of you guys be there? :goodvibes

Cass-You don't like zebra domes??? :furious: :furious: :furious: ... :rotfl2:
We'll be staying at the AKL from December 14-21 and my DH, DD, DS, my cat and my DD's 2 newly acquired hermit crabs all think I'm a very nice person... :wave2:

Wendy-you poor thing-I'm so sorry that you lost your tag... :sad2: I'm hoping the tag fairy can bring it back ... :tink: ...your list of special things was great-I'm copying it and putting it at the front of my planning binder... :thumbsup2

Kimmar-congrats on your portfolio... :cheer2: and wow-14 days... :woohoo: -Lucky You!!!

runa00-Welcome and don't sweat the view-we booked a pool view because at the time there actually weren't any standard view (pool view is an extra $25 I think) and DH thought the $350 we would save on Savannah view would pay for some food-we're kind of foodies... :teeth: (Although what I'd really love is concierge someday so we can go on the sunrise safari- :cloud9: ) but there really are viewing areas all over and the lobby is stunning and you can always hang in the lounge drinking Victoria Mists... :drinking1

tinknme-once again amazing photos :cool1: not to be dense but are you lawyergirl or is she a friend :confused3 -she takes awesome photos...We're going to Boma and Jiko!.... :woohoo:

Well, I was kind of wondering if there might be a couple of Zebra Domes around since its Friday???? it isn't like I'm desperate or anything  but we're going away to NH/Maine for the week and I'd love one for the road... :drive:

Congrats! :rotfl: I'm going in July 07. My DB and I. I was wondering what rates did you get? What type of room? I want to do my ressies now too...But I'm kind of waiting for the AAA rates to come out...I don't know....should I wait? :scratchin:

My call was for information purposes only, but next thing I knew we had a grand gathering # and three rooms on hold! These are the rates we got:

$258 per night for a double queen poolview
$320 per night for a double queen savanna view
$348 per night for a queen with bunks savanna view

The CM thinks I should be able to adjust to the AAA rate when the packages come out next month. The CM put DME on the reservation, even though I said I was not sure we want to use that service. She said that by putting it on the reservation now, it will remain complimentary, even if they start charging for it when the '07 packages come out.

I put in room requests to try to get us all close together, even though my family will have a poolview  . Here are my requests

Pool view room in the 3451-3486 range
Savanna view room facing the Arusha Savanna in the 3501-3515 range

I made these requests based on a copy of the resort map that I have. I thought Arusha would be better than Uzima. Am I right about that? What do you think of that location for rooms?

Here are some more pictures to drool over from Jiko, compliments of lawyergirl :teeth:

Appetizer sampler platter (not on the menu, but they will offer it - $20). DH and I loved everything and we couldn't pick a favourite:

DH's Entree: the filet mignon with the red wine sauce and the mac and cheese (INCREDIBLE and incredibly rich):

My Entrée: Halibut, with a tomato butter sauce and crispy sweet potatoes (Beautiful, light and refreshing - delicious!)

DH's dessert: flourless chocolate cake stack, with peanut butter ice cream (gone in 60 seconds - he loved it)

My dessert: Pistachio crème brulée with a chocolate base... I'm still sighing with joy about it (sorry for the blurry pic... :guilty: )

anyone at the AKL 8/17-20?
If you were only going to be there three nights would you plan on just staying at the AKL? (we know we arent doing the parks these days) or go to Pepper Market for CS dinner? to DTD for DVC meet? Not sure if we should take the time away from the AKL or not. Its DS14 and myself - DH is joining us on our last night.

If I were not planning on going to any parks, I would definetly hang around the resort! There is plenty to do & see & you have 3 restaurants to choose from. Oh it would be heaven :cloud9:

We are finally treating ourselves to this type of vacation for out 20th anniverary. In fact, I just put the finishing touches on our "schedule" which involves little more than waking up, eating, swimming, having a lost day somewhere in Mexico or AK, eating, meeting some friends, eating, sleeping and enjoying the whole cycle one more time!!!
