As I've posted earlier about my trip to WDW/AKL in Oct. with my friend from Brasil and her 2 children...Due to her flight schedule, she and the kids will be staying one extra night. The AKL is approx. $250.00 and the All Star Movies approx. $110.00. A substantial savings. Will Disney move guests from one resort to another? Is it free or is there a fee? Her soon to be ex-husband has not offered to give her, or more specifically, the kids one penny for the trip, so she is really a single mother on a tight budget trying to wing this. She absolutely will not let me pay for the one night at the hotel and suggested staying at a cheaper hotel. She wondered about staying at an off property hotel, but I told her that she wouldn't be saving much because she would then have to pay for transportation to the hotel, then pay again to get to the airport. Do you agree?

As others posted, Yes, they will transfer her luggage to an Allstar, NO charge!! Is your friend using ME?? IF not, then she needs to add that to her ressie!!!

I just reserved AKL for our Grand Gathering for July '07!!!! :bounce: We are all very excited--there will be 10 of us, three rooms.

I am sure I will have a lot of questions, but for now I would like to know... will I be able to do laundry there? :laundy: I have some special clothes I like to wear to the parks and in the heat of July, I need to wash them! That and we will have two 2 year olds with us!

Yes they have laundry facilities there. I think Kimmar posted some pictures a while back. I think it is $2 for wash & not sure on the dryer. I always do a load or 2 of laundry, hate coming home to a suitcase full of dirty cloths lol

...yes, abolutely! I can see how, since she is on a very tight budget, it would be very tempting to stay at a cheaper resort....perhaps they can do a 'split stay' - for instance, if it is an 8 day vaca, 4 days at ASMo and 4 days at AKL (definitely 'do' the Dlx resort during the 2nd half!)...sorta like 'saving the BEST for last'....

Here are some more pictures to drool over from Jiko, compliments of lawyergirl :teeth:

Appetizer sampler platter (not on the menu, but they will offer it - $20). DH and I loved everything and we couldn't pick a favourite:

DH's Entree: the filet mignon with the red wine sauce and the mac and cheese (INCREDIBLE and incredibly rich):

My Entrée: Halibut, with a tomato butter sauce and crispy sweet potatoes (Beautiful, light and refreshing - delicious!)

DH's dessert: flourless chocolate cake stack, with peanut butter ice cream (gone in 60 seconds - he loved it)

My dessert: Pistachio crème brulée with a chocolate base... I'm still sighing with joy about it (sorry for the blurry pic... :guilty: )

I just called to squish in a reservation for Boma for the night we arrive at AKL....

We're driving in from NY and pending traffic etc. we should arrive at AKL at about 6pm, I made the rezzie for 8:40p. Normally we would just go to the Marketplace for a light dinner (at the Earl of Sandwich...I LOVE their Tuna Melts....) since we are usually tired but it just looks (and sounds) too good to pass up, plus we won't have to actually leave our resort...

I hope we arrive on time haha......

p.s. just so i don't look silly, I know the pictures above are Jiko.....I think the Boma pics are a few pages back :)

Wonderful! Hope you enjoy :cool1:

... Why....so I DO!!!!!! :woohoo: ...two weeks from TODAY, we will be :drive: to WDW.....!! :woohoo:

Kimmar, congrats on the Masters!

Well I just got off the phone w/ CRO hoping to convert the room only ressie to a package but they said that they still don't have the prices for the packages yet. So I'll call back in a couple of weeks.

BTW, does anyone know how long it takes to get a refund from WDW? :confused3 For the Sept trip that we cancelled, they were able to apply a portion of what I paid to our new ressie, they refunded what I paid by debit card 2 weeks ago but said they would be mailing a check out for the portion paid by checks and it's been a month now. They did say that they're showing a check will SOON be mailed. But that $700 would sure come in handy for our other vacation. Maybe SOON means a couple of weeks? :confused3
