JAMBO Everybody...An August 2011 TR (Completed May 13)

Okay, Jeff totally sounds like my brother. I'm ashamed to admit it, but one year when we were eating at Teppan Edo, he asked the kids at the table why they were refusing the vegetables that they give with the meal (they didn't even want them on their plate). All three kids said that they didn't like them. So Jason says "I'll eat them". They said fine, and Jason ate his entire meal, on top of the additional three servings of vegetables. And yet, he manages to stay skinny as can be. Men suck. :lmao:

I'm glad that your meal was good. Honestly, I've only ever eaten steak at Le Cellier, but your port meal looks really good!

That was so sweet of the server to get Jasmine a slice of the cake that was her favorite. It always helps to mention something, right?

I had no idea how Canada got it's name, but I googled it! And now I know. :thumbsup2

DEFINITLY!!!! :thumbsup2 :lmao:

I know I would!! What grade do you teach? My daughter's a band teacher, perhaps I should give her this suggestion for her parent/teacher night! :rotfl2:

Debbie

I teach 10th and 11th grade English...fortunately, they seemed to like me even without the GGS, but I could have used one at the end of the night... :lmao:

Queen- Great update! I cannot imagine leaving a restaurant in Disney hungry! (of course, desserts sound better to me than meals...I am glad Jeff was happy with burger and fries...)

Le Cellier is one of our favourites. This past trip was the first trip since our first that we didn't eat there. Too funny about the trivia, we've done that before too.

Catching up already and only just started the TR... failure, okay catching up now...

YAY MK! It is amazing how everyone magically (emphasis on magically) everyone gets up at Disney. How I feel about that, since I can vouch for us kids, is there is nothing to look forward to at home in the morning, you can sleep in, but at Disney, there is just too much to look forward to for you to actually sleep :teeth: Totally makes sense, right?

Oh I love the opening show at MK! It is just so cute and really wakes you up and starts off your day right at the most magical place on Earth. (: And you just gained many cool points for singing during the show, in my book that doesn't count as embarrassing, and I KNOW embarrassing, I.... uh nevermind :thumbsup2 And that is such a great location for a Cindy's Castle pic, I must go by there to get a new perspective of the castle.

Oh, poor you getting thrown under the bus at a M&G, but I think Iridessa seemed to like you better than the two non-grownups on the other side just saying Haha And you totally saved the pic with your great pose ;)

A big thumbs up (I say this Jeff kid totally stole that from me) to riding Splash Mountain and Haunted Mansion first! Probably two of the best rides in MK, hands down and I love the new queue for the HM. Hopefully it will still be standing in 2013 for me to enjoy :cloud9:

Oh wow, the pool at Jambo House is so much different from the one at Kidani. That just totally amazes me. It's always so quiet and it's well hidden at Kidani where the one at Jambo looks so open, but I guess hey need that with a higher residency. Haha @ Jeff's failed attempts at learning how to float... :sad2: Hopeless... But all these thumbs up definitely make up for it. :)

That was such a great decision to go take the boat ride from DHS to EPCOT so Jeff could see all the resorts. The BoardWalk resorts are just beautiful and I must say your daughter has good taste in resorts, I REALLY want to stay at the Yacht Club, so pretty. Jeff needs to understand the difference between an awesome resort and a resort that doesn't understand a fish is not a dolphin :rolleyes1 :teeth:

World Showcase at night is so pretty. I think that's primarily whenever I wander over there. Future World during the day, WS at night... simple! I love the picture you got in front of the fountain, a hidden gem photo op, so pretty. I also gotta give huge props to Jeff and Jasmine showing off their Mickey pride with some awesome ears! :thumbsup2

Oh gosh, why did you have to go to Le Cellier?! I'm hungry and enough and those food pictures make my mouth water... oh the day I get to try Cheddar Soup and Maple Creme Brulee :goodvibes My life will be complete then. So glad to see the Chocolate Moose is live and well there as well. And that was so sweet of the chef to make Jasmine her special cake, free of charge and that this was Jeff's first experience of Disney Magic, I'm guessing he was hooked after this trip. ::yes::

Can't wait to read more! :mickeyjum

Sorry it took me so long to get back. Between the 6 day trip to NY and back and the Yankees being in the playoffs (hey... it's October.. of course the Yanks are playing!) I've been a bit busy. And today's been not much but playing taxi! I'm just about ready for the boys to be able to drive their-darn-selves!! LOL

I did some quoting but then I stopped due to time constraints. And since it's been so long since you've posted some of what I'm replying to, I just hope you remember what you said so what I say makes sense.

Ok MEK, here's the story behind my DISname......i needed to come up with a username for twitter, so I combined my hobby of Geocaching with what I do for a living and geodoc was created! (I know not that exciting) for those wanting to know more about Geocaching you can PM me or read about it on Purplepegs first trip report! To anyone on twitter... I'm geodoc99.....and now back to the TR!

Anyone wants to learn something about Geocaching, just get with Geodoc. He took me out a while back and it was a LOT of fun. It's not something that my kids and I ever really got into afterwards but it was sooooooo much fun to go out playing in the woods with him!

Can I be part of the "girl's only trip" ????? !!! lol

I want in too, please!!!!!

It really was so sweet and thoughtful:) Dinner was so good Mary Ellen! I wish we could have stayed a little longer as the band was just starting to play...but like you, I'll look forward to going back in the future!;)

I saw them one time and it's a lot of fun! But go rent Riverdance and enjoy it and you've pretty much got it there.

Okay... that's all the quoting I did. Here comes the challenging part:

What a beautiful basket!!! And dinner at Raglan Road! Oh, I so love that place!!! Didn' know about the Guinness dip.... Hmmm... sounds like a happy hour there in my near future! One time my girlfriend and I went over to House of Blues for an Apocalyptica concert. Before the show we had drinks and appetizers at RR. I always wanted to try Guinness, but it's not a cheap beer. But they have a sample size at RR (of course!) and from that point forward I was solid hooked!

Loved the pics from MK! Especially HM! It's my favorite. I can't wait to get tix again so I can get over there and see the interactive queue elements.

As for poor Snow riding HM again after seeing the aura, all I can say is y'all are sooooooooooo mean to her! Which, of course, I find funny as all get out since I'm just as mean to my kids! :rotfl2:

(Re Jas & Jeff drinking around the world)... now that sounds like the kind of trip that you could definitely provide them some expert guidance with, huh?

No need to go to the gym when you're on vacation. Micky Magic erases all calories, doesn't it?

Regarding your first afternoon at the pool.... Lemme get this straight... the lady that had (a few?) pina coladas is going to steady the girl who is not old enough to drink? Yeah, must make some kind of sense in the WDW universe, huh?

Thanks for the shot from the boat as you go to the International Gateway! Love it!!!!

The first shot you get of France besides the tower is the wine stand.... why doesn't that surprise me????? LOL

Wait a doggone minute... you can't tell us the question (How did Canada get the name) but not give us the answer. C'mon... I'm curious as all get out and too lazy to google it!

Okay... whew! Caught up. I'm going to try to be better about getting on here and hopefully real life won't keep getting in the way of what's important. But now I have to go pick up one of my student deputy sheriffs (local Explorer post connected with the Sheriff's department) who's been on parking detail at a local haunted house. Catch you soon.... promise!!!

I'm so glad that I am not too far behind (it's been impossible to check in on TR's while we are in Florida and we don't get home until Wednesday).

Your afternoon at the pool looked delightful and the boat ride over to Epcot/WS like fun. I'm glad you had a great meal at LeCellier. Unfortunately, we were a little disappointed in our meal there this past Wednesday...but I'll go into that more when I do my TR and dining review.

You all look great in the photos.

Enjoyed reading about Le Cellier, all the food looked delicious!
It's crazy how much guys can eat. I have watched my younger brother go through boxes of food before and still want more. :confused3 I'm lucky if I finish my entree and dessert.

It was so great to see Jasmine getting some pixie dust with her dinner. And I love that she was able to get a whole piece of the cake she loved! Such a nice ending to your meal.

We loved Le Cellier!! We had the poutine too but were all so full we couldn't finish it! :goodvibes
Sounds like you had a great evening!!

Debbie

Our waitress tried to tell Jeff it wasn't as good as any poutine he would have had at home...I'm not sure if that is true or if she was just trying to make him feel better! It was a fantastic evening...one we won't soon forget!

Ok so how did Canada get it's name? You forgot to tell us :)

I love the Duffy's the girls were workin on. How cute!

I'm so glad you all had such a wonderful meal and how awesome of your server to give Jasmine extra magic :tinker:

Isn't it amazing how much these young guys can eat and still look so fit?!

Oops sorry about that, ok, here goes: "Kanata" is the aboriginal word for village, more accurately, the Huron-Iroquois word for village. When Jacques Cartier was meeting with the aboriginals they kept referring to Kanata which was the village at which they had their meetings. He soon used the word on maps for the area surrounding Quebec City and over time it became Canada! That's how I remember but remember I took Canadian History in grade 6.:lmao:

They loved those Duffy's and everyday we were at Epcot they were with us!

My sister kept saying to me the entire trip "where does he put it and how does he stay in such great shape" I answered with I don't know but I want to hurt him:rolleyes1

Great meal at Le Cellier! Did you notice any difference now that it is 2 TS? (Other than I'm sure it's more expensive.) I love that the server brought Jasmine a slice of her favorite cake. I've always thought the servers in Le Cellier are some of the most thoughtful on property. I've always chalked it to the fact that they are Canadian;)

No difference except the prices which I honestly thought were awfully high! $42 for a steak:scared1: sorry, I just couldn't bring myself to pay that...the pork was $30 and worth every penny!

I will agree with you, the servers there are wonderful!

Yup, that sounds exactly like Jeff, nothing goes to waste:lmao:I agree they suck!:rotfl2:

I was the same as you, before this trip I always had steak but I just couldn't pay those new prices for the same steak that used to be at least $10 cheaper! Hey, that's another GGS in my tummy:rotfl2:

The next time your at Le Cellier and they ask that question you'll be able to answer! :thumbsup2

Queen- Great update! I cannot imagine leaving a restaurant in Disney hungry! (of course, desserts sound better to me than meals...I am glad Jeff was happy with burger and fries...)

That has never happen to me ... I'm usually saying to myself "stop eating now or your going to be too full to walk around";) I also pick my dessert first and my meal second....I love dessert:lovestruc and I must always leave room for it;)

Le Cellier is one of our favourites. This past trip was the first trip since our first that we didn't eat there. Too funny about the trivia, we've done that before too.

We had missed Le Cellier on our last visit so I really wanted to make sure we made it this time! I didn't love how late our ADR was and we all had a bit of a hard time sleeping that night!:lmao: It was a lot of fun...we learned stuff we didn't know!!!

Our waitress tried to tell Jeff it wasn't as good as any poutine he would have had at home...I'm not sure if that is true or if she was just trying to make him feel better! It was a fantastic evening...one we won't soon forget!

She was right!! My kids did say it wasn't the same as at home! I'm not a big
poutine fan so I wouldn't know either way!:confused3

So happy that you're all caught up!:thumbsup2

Your take on getting up early makes total sense! I remember as a kid my mom would have to call us more than once on school mornings but the weekends we were always up first:confused3There were cartoons to watch after all!

Thanks for the cools points, I am going to be showing that to Jasmine as soon as she gets home:lmao: What's that saying "dance like no ones watching" that was me!!

Iridessa and I were doing some serious bonding! Jeff, once again, was sure she was flirting with him and trying to slip him her number....he used that one on Tink too if you remember:confused3:lmao:

You are gonna love that HM and 2013 will be here before you know it...btw, that's when our next trip is scheduled for!

We have never made it over to Kidani Pool and we had it on our list this trip but it never happened. By the time we got back to the room, changed and made it downstairs we just wanted to get into the water!

I agree with you...YC hands down!!

Sorry it took me so long to get back. Between the 6 day trip to NY and back and the Yankees being in the playoffs (hey... it's October.. of course the Yanks are playing!) I've been a bit busy. Guinness scares me...it looks thick and gross and no I've never tried it and don't plan on it...but that dipping stuff was to.die.for!!!

Loved the pics from MK! Especially HM! It's my favorite. I can't wait to get tix again so I can get over there and see the interactive queue elements.
I love it too but as a kid, there is no way on God's green earth anyone would have gotten me on that ride and if they tried, no one would have been sleeping for the next six weeks cause I would have had them all up!! Peg can vouch for that!
As for poor Snow riding HM again after seeing the aura, all I can say is y'all are sooooooooooo mean to her! Which, of course, I find funny as all get out since I'm just as mean to my kids! :rotfl2:

That poor child does get a lot of teasing from her auntie but to be fair Peg used to torment Jas too so it's really payback!:rotfl2:

(Re Jas & Jeff drinking around the world)... now that sounds like the kind of trip that you could definitely provide them some expert guidance with, huh?
See, now all I could think of was that you better have an annual pass by then so you can come with us!
No need to go to the gym when you're on vacation. Micky Magic erases all calories, doesn't it?
No...no it doesn't! By the end of the trip everything was a little too tight!! Not good:rolleyes1
Regarding your first afternoon at the pool.... Lemme get this straight... the lady that had (a few?) pina coladas is going to steady the girl who is not old enough to drink? Yeah, must make some kind of sense in the WDW universe, huh?

Don't hurt yourself honey, I'll give you the answer...actually I gave it to Dawn earlier so can you just go back there and read it so I don't have to type it all over again:worship:
Okay... whew! Caught up. I'm going to try to be better about getting on here and hopefully real life won't keep getting in the way of what's important. Oh Kathy, I'm so happy you popped on to say hi! I've been living vicariously through you and following all your activities on FB! I'm so sorry you didn't have a great meal at Le Cellier! Thanks Kathy, looking forward to your upcoming TR and all your great pictures!

Enjoyed reading about Le Cellier, all the food looked delicious!

They eat way more than us and never seem to gain an ounce, I read the menu and I'm up 3!!

She was so surprised and so happy that our server did that for her! She really was awesome!

He soon used the word on maps for the area surrounding Quebec City and over time it became Canada! That's how I remember but remember I took Canadian History in grade 6.:lmao:

They have also been showing it on television in one of those Heritage Canada videos for years now. :happytv:

He asked everyone how Canada got it's name! No one had a clue, including my family, but I knew so I finally raised my hand and asked very politely if I could answer! Daniel said I could answer and my answer was right!!

Do you remember seeing a commercial a few years ago about that? In the commercial, the native elder motions to his village and asks if the newcomers would like to come to the village. Cartier says "Canada must be the name for this land." Another junior member pipes up, "Sir? I think he means the village." "No, no." Cartier replies, "It's definitely the land, I know what I'm talking about."

150-2.jpg

I love this picture of the two of them....don't they look content, I think that's the best word for this picture!

Yup. Noticed the body language right away. They do seem quite happy together. :goodvibes

Jasmine's beer and cheddar soup...that's all she eats at Le Cellier and one of these trips I know she's going to order two bowls:lmao:

I've heard from a lot of people about the cheddar soup and how good it is. When we were in WDW last time, we didn't have hoppers so I made sure I knew which park we were going to be in and made ADRs 180 days +10 out. I managed to score a Le Cellier slot and couldn't wait to try the soup. Well, on the day we were going to go, we had already been to each park once. The kids decided that they wanted to go back to DHS instead of EPCOT. "Are you sure?" Yup. They are. I was crushed but called and cancelled the ADR and booked something else in DHS. Now this next part, I am not exagerating or embellishing. This is exactly what happened... So I cancel Le Cellier, book a new ADR and hang up. As soon as I hang up and turn around, the kids inform me that they've changed their minds again and now want to go to EPCOT after all! I ask them several times, "Are you sure?" Yup. They are. I get back on the phone, but by then Le Cellier is all booked up. We settled for Biergarten, which is okay... but...

Ok, now time for a funny story! Once we were all finished our meals, Jeff turned to me and said I'm still hungry! This boy can eat!! I called the server over and Jeff told her he would like an order of poutine...her eyes went as big as saucers and she said "I'm so sorry, but the kitchen is closed all I can get for you is dessert! Jeff is not a dessert eater so he just said "No problem I'll just grab a burger and fries when we get back to the resort:lmao:and he did!!

Ah, yes. I remember those days.

Well, what did she come back with.....a whole piece of Jasmine's favorite cake...she had told the Chef about her conversation with Jasmine and that it was Jasmine's birthday (she told us not to tell on her and we didn't) and how nice it would be if she could have her cake. How could the Chef say no? Better still, she didn't charge Jasmine for her cake! Jeff was blown away by how out of her way this young lady went and then not to charge...we kept telling him it was the Disney Magic hard at work and that it would be around us for 2 weeks...get used to it!!

That's great! Gotta love when the pixie dust fairy comes by! :) Thanks for the update! :goodvibes

Yay, I loved your update of Le Cellier! :cool1: We never ate here during our trip but your review makes me wish I had - I will def be booking an ADR here for a future trip ;)

Lol at the Canada trivia situation and knowing the answer of how Canada got it's name - I now know something new!

I love all the pictures and you are right in that Jasmine and Jeff look 'content' in that pic of the two of them - they make such a cute couple!

Lol at Jeff still being hungry after the meal! Sounds like something my brother would say!

Wow at the service and Jasmine getting her cake - what a wonderful thing for your server to do :thumbsup2 Looking forward to reading about the next day.

Oh great...you're gonna make me think at this time of night:rolleyes1

Hey... keeping you on your toes is part of my job!

Like we would ever do a girl's trip without you....you're the entertainment committee girl!!!

I'm the entertainment committee? Oooooooh, how does that song go? "nothing but a good time"!!!! But just remember, if we do a girls trip in WDW we have to apply Vegas rules ... what happens in WDW STAYS in WDW. LOL

They eat way more than us and never seem to gain an ounce, I read the menu and I'm up 3!!

I agree with y'all... men suck!!!! :rotfl2:

Yummy! Each time someone asks if Le Cellier is worth the hype I always say "Yes!" It never disappoints:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Yum!! What a great update. That was very sweet of the waitress to do that for Jasmine. :thumbsup2 The pixie dust experience at Disney is like no other! It's amazing how one little tiny bit of goodness can really make a trip even more awesome.

Yes dinner at Le Cellier!! Which I always pronounce incorrectly and it drives DBF crazy! :rotfl: My grandmother grew up in Canada before moving to the US when she was 20 or so, we still have family that lives up there as well :thumbsup2 so I need to brush up on my trivia :thumbsup

I cannot wait to have some of that soup, it looks sooo yummy!!!

Sorry I have been AWOL - I think I am caught up - had oral surgery and still trying to heal - anyhoo - We LOVE LeCellier! It's our fav TS - the pretzel bread, cheddar soup, chocolate mousse - I mean "moose":lmao: Can't wait to eat real food again!
