Okay, forgive me for this question.
What is poutine and how is it pronounced?? In my mind I am saying it "poo-teen," but I just need confirmation!

THAT SOUNDS AMAZING!! It sounds SO amazing that I can't believe it isn't one of our crazy southern dishes! Now I have to ask more questions (because this is important, as it might just make an appearance on my plate soon
)...is it a cream gravy or a brown gravy? Thick or thin? Does the kind of cheese matter?? I love a heart attack on a plate. In fact, I think I'll cook up some buttermilk biscuits to sop up the extra gravy

Heart attack on a plate is exactly what it is, but oh so yummy is right!
It's a thin brown gravy usually and the cheese is usually cheese curds.
From Wikipedia:
Poutine is a dish of French fries, fresh cheese curds, and sometimes additional ingredients, covered with brown gravy or sauce
Poutine is a diner staple that originated in Quebec and can now be found across Canada. It is sold by national and international fast food chains, in small "greasy spoon" type diners (commonly known as "cantines" or "casse-croûtes" in Quebec) and pubs, as well as by roadside chip wagons (commonly known as "cabanes à patates", literally meaning "potato shacks"). International chains like McDonald's, A&W, KFC and Burger King also sell mass-produced poutine in Canada. Atypically, the dish may include additional ingredients such as lobster meat, rabbit confit, caviar, and truffles.

In the basic recipe for poutine, French fries are topped with fresh cheese curds, and covered with brown gravy or sauce. The French fries are of medium thickness, and fried so that the inside stays soft, while the outside is crunchy. The gravy used is generally a light chicken, veal or turkey gravy, mildly spiced with a hint of pepper, or a sauce brune which is a combination of beef and chicken stock, originating in Quebec. Heavy beef or pork-based brown gravies are rarely used. Fresh cheese curds (not more than a day old) are used. To maintain the texture of the fries, the cheese curd and gravy is added immediately prior to serving the dish.
Man, I am seriously craving poutine now. Will have to put it on the "must get" list for next time I go up to Montreal.

Lemme know when you make it 'cause I'm inviting myself over to your house. Yes, ma'am, my momma did teach me how rude that is, but rules are made to be broken, especially for something as tummygasmic sounding as this!!!
Exquisite food porn!!! OMG!!!! Just OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!![]()
Love love all the updates!!!Queen, you are glowing with happiness in all those pics. Jeff and Jas are such a great looking couple. And they are genuinely nice appreciative people which makes them all that more attractive. What a great dinner at Le Cellier!!! I also loved the pics with the fairies-heck I got in one with Pooh!!!
We saw the Canada movie! loved it. What a beautiful country you live in. Cayley told my inlaws, "My Queen and Jasmine live there and someday I will go and visit them" I am ALL for a girls trip-big girls that is. I would totally have to keep it from the little girls......
What a great first couple of days!!!
Amen!!!!! What I want to know is what happened to the sweet little boys I raised? Oh, they're still sweet guys but now they talk and, more importantly, think like men --- which means very little thinking at all if you ask me sometimes!
You crack me up...you are completely on your own sometimes in that house aren't you?
OMG, that sounds soooooooo good!!!!!!! But I do believe I'll take chili cheese fries over fries with gravy. But then again, I probably shouldn't say that until after I've tried it. Excuse me while I go google a non-$85-entry-fee spot that might have it down here.
