Jaime on Vacation! (9/2/06 - 9/10/06) COMPLETED: Page 14, Post #210

I am hooked. I can't wait for your next repot.

Thank you all so much! I can't believe how LONG this first day was!!! And I know we have another day durting the trip that we did a million things!!! Jeez!

I’m going to reveal the surprise using a song from Winnie the Pooh:

The rain, rain, rain, came down, down, down
In rushing, rising, rivlets
'Til the river crept out of it's bed
And crept right into Piglet's.

I believe Pam & Al, Jennifer & Berry, and Thomas all arrived just before, or as, it started to drizzle. Then, all of a sudden, as it’s apt to do in Florida – BAMMM!!!

The rain, rain, rain, came down, down, down
In rushing, rising, rivlets
'Til the river crept out of it's bed
And crept right into Piglet's.

We stood out there a second until we realized how hard it was coming down, then all lined up under the marina’s overhang. Me, Meg, and Ash were by the window, where inside Rex , Phil, and Chris were checking the weather tracker (telling us it should blow over soon) and getting us towels to dry off. They had to have given us 20 or 30 towels in the next ½ hour!

Chris was young. And cute. And Meg & Ash could have stayed there all night. He was wearing a yellow slicker – and I guess I wasn’t paying attention, because the next thing I know, my daughter had charmed it off of him and was wearing it herself! :cloud9: (She’s now grounded from dating until she’s 30!)

I felt SOOO bad! My Princess wishes were not being obeyed! I asked what Rex thought we should do, and he said they’d go out in the rain if we wanted – as long as there was no lightning. Then he went to put the pontoon boat’s canopy up – taking the banner down and tying the balloons to the front of the boat.

So we waited… and waited… and I’m worried about 2 things: #1. Colleen and Phil are still not there (it’s getting close to 9:30), and B.) Are we going out to see the fireworks or not – and Sub-Question B.) Are they going to do Wishes in a pouring rain???

So, sadly, I have no pictures of anyone or the boat! But if you want to see what I looked like (I kept ducking out into the rain to give updates to the people at the end of the line or try to have a conversation with someone), you can just go back to the first post and see the Kali River Rapids picture again.

Colleen and Phil arrive – they were confused by the docks! See? I wish I had looked up that GF map earlier, but I also thought we’d be by the docks! Colleen leaned over to me and told me Phil had no clue about the boat! She told him she was told the GF was a great place to watch the fireworks! I wish I could have been in his head while he tried to figure out WHY she insisted on standing on a dock – an hour early – in the pouring rain!

So they join the line under the overhang. They were at least smart enough to have ponchos! I have them – just didn’t think to bring them with me that night – I figured a 3 o’clock rain shower happens at 3 o’clock, right? Well, not THIS trip!

Colleen came over to me to tell me the thought Phil figured it out. And then the rain started to let up! Whoo-Hoo!!! After getting another 200 towels from Chris and Rex, we got the okay to board. They had covered all the seats with towels, too. We might have looked like a ghost ship, come to think of it!

Right before we boarded, a waiter from the GF came to the boat, bearing a tray – I know what’s on that!!!

A LITTLE ASIDE: The Pontoon Boat: You can put 6 people up front (3 on each side) and 4 more in the back (next to the driver). I’ve ridden in back (Illuminations, Jan. 2005) and up front (this trip). The views were the same. If you sit in back, you get to talk to the driver, which is usually pretty interesting. But no matter where you sit, it’s almost impossible to converse with the other group because of the boat engine. My one big regret is that we didn’t get to talk to each other enough – I would have really liked more time with Pam, Al, Jennifer, and Berry!

Plus, on this trip, because it was still raining, the back is under the canopy – we’d have to ask Jennifer & Berry or Pam & Al if that had any effect…

Meg, me, and Thomas sat on one side up front, and Ashley, Colleen & Phil sat on the other side. We did get to talk, but not nearly enough. All 7 of these people were wonderful!

Meg & Ashley seemed to be amusing themselves with fighting with the balloons tied to the front of the boat, so I just concentrated on talking to Thomas, Colleen, and Phil. Thomas had just taken a Disney Cruise, so that was interesting. Phil was relatively new to “Disney” and it appeared Colleen had converted him. Yea, Colleen!

At one point, Thomas was telling us about Splash Mountain, and how you are actually on rails coming down, not touching the water… A few days later, on the ride, as we’re following another boat UP the hill, Meg says, “Look, Mom! That guy was right! That boat’s on wheels, it’s not touching the water!” Honestly, I didn’t even know the kids were listening to the conversation!

Rex got us to the general area where the fireworks would be, and they yelled up from the back of the boat if I wanted to do the cakes now. Meg goes, “Cake?!?” Cool! It’s so hard to surprise her, because she’s just like me and I want to share everything with her.

SLIGHT EXPLANATION BACKTRACK: Right before we left home, in a PM from Pam, she mentioned that her birthday was the 11th. So I called GF’s bakery and changed my order from 2 cakes to 3 cakes. One would say Phil, one would say Meg, and one would say Pam. So when they ask if we’re ready for cake, I announce there’s 3 and that we’re celebrating Phil, Meg, and Pam.

So I went back to get a picture of the cakes (it’s barely drizzling at this point).
347%3B64868%7Ffp3%3Enu%3D3235%3E588%3E%3A%3A%3B%3EWSNRCG%3D32325%3A%3C5%3A4%3A45nu0mrj

Well, that's out of focus!

AND THERE’S ONLY 2 CAKES!!!!!!!!!!! Meg & Phil! I felt terrible!!!!!!!! Pam was so wonderful about it though. She said she wasn’t expecting it, so she couldn’t be disappointed. But I still felt so bad!!! I really wish I had checked the cakes when they showed up.

So we drift around, and we eat, and we talk, and then it starts:

wait for it...

Wait for it...

WISHES!

Yup, teared up again!

After the fireworks, Rex said he’s keep us out on the water for a while, seeing as we got such a late start. We got to see the Electric Water Pageant and drove around Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake for awhile. :thumbsup2

And then, before I knew it, it was over! I hated to say good-bye to everyone, but I had a decision to make – take the monorail to the MK and join the Pop Century bus line… or grab a cab at the GF to take us back to Pop…

The girls convinced me to take the cab. And in the cab, Ashley said she’s pay for it. Please don’t judge me, letting a 16-year-old pay for things – the kid had over $500 spending money!

Before we left home that morning – THAT MORNING?!?!? :confused3 – Rhonda gave the girls $30 to buy Pop Century refillable mugs (I own a Pop Century “Disney Mug Vacation Club” mug (thanks, ZZUB!) which I brought with). So we stopped in the food court on the way to the room to get their mugs (11:22pm, btw).

The plan was for me to get them bagels and hot chocolate for breakfast whilst they got ready for the day.

Rhonda, I don’t know if it was me or Meg that kept your change… either way, you’re out $4.46. pirate:

Holy, Cow! I never thought that day would end, did you? :hourglass

HIGHLIGHTS: I’m HOME. Getting Meg on Dinosaur and her LIKING it! Dessert at Raglan Road. Meeting 7 great people for the Wishes Cruise.

LOWLIGHTS: The main course at Raglan Road, but I’m willing to try it again and order something else. Crowds at AK. The downpour that threatened the cruise.

MILES WALKED: 5.17

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 3RD, 2006

PLANS: MGM, Fantasmic?, see how much Valium would be needed to ride ToT., moment of silence for Millionaire.

BREAKFAST: in the room
LUNCH: Beaches ‘n Cream Kitchen Sink ($$$)
DINNER: Prime Time @ 4:00pm (TS2)

REALITY: Wow, today went NOTHING like planned!!! Most of today was awful and I have to take the responsibility for that. Without going into detail, I was hormonally challenged today – well, basically a raving witch! Plus, I chickened out of Tower of Terror and Rock ‘n Rollercoaster and was really ticked at myself for doing so. I did apologize to the girls later on.

But the day started ok, I was up, showered, dressed, and getting bagels by 7:30. Meg did NOT want to get up today! She threw a small hissy fit in the room over her clothing. Didn’t help MY mood, but wasn’t the cause of it either. So we’re snapping at each other, and poor Ashley’s stuck listening to us gripe.

So we finally make it out of the room and we’re at MGM a little after opening. Couple of PhotoPass pictures in front of the hat –
347%3B65442%7Ffp5%3Enu%3D3232%3E4%3B%3B%3E637%3E23234%3B%3B728742ot1lsi

which look like I’m WEARING the hat –

Tell Ashley to GET OFF OF ME!!! :furious: and we head for the Big Girl rides. I’m really freakin’ cranky at this point – the dialogue in my head is, “WHY did you forget your pills? What a BABY! You could ride them anyway, you know! Stupid, stupid, stupid!” Man, I was beating myself up! So I walk through the ToT line with the girls… and…

Wait for it……

Oh, never mind, I chickened out. :sad2:

Walked through the RnR line (I’ve ridden this one… once).

And chickened out. :sad2:

Wow, didn’t even try to provide any suspense that time, did I? :rolleyes1

Not a lot of camera work this morning – SOOO crabby! The girls loved the Villain Store next to the bakery… Little Mermaid, Great Movie Ride (I heard Meggie go “Ooh!” when the Pirates of the Caribbean clip came up), some pin trading, and it’s time for lunch. 11:34 actually.

The PLAN had been to head out of MGM and go to the Beach Club for a Kitchen Sink for lunch. Neither Meg nor I was that excited about it though. So I made what we call at work an “Executive Decision” and said no kitchen sink (I was too crabby and it was WAY TOO HOT to eat so much ice cream!)

We went over to the Backlot Express (which was actually supposed to be lunch on our next MGM day). We went with 3 counter service meals this time – we split 2 bagels for breakfast!):

Meg and I split the hot dog meal and the double cheeseburger meal (have I explained Meg’s tendency to want to “split” food? She always wants to eat out, and then wants to eat whatever YOU ordered! If you wanted what I have, why didn’t YOU order it yourself?) Ashley got the chicken strip basket. Sprite for Meg, water for Ash & me. And chocolate cake for everyone! (Would have been $35.31)

347%3B65442%7Ffp3%3Enu%3D3235%3E588%3E%3A%3A%3B%3EWSNRCG%3D32325%3A%3C5%3A4%3A64nu0mrj

See the Hidden Mickey?

Hot dog – eh. Burger good. Cake wonderful! And chicken strips are chicken strips!

I had started this trip with the intention of taking afternoon breaks, because we had so many days and could just relax and take it slow. We went and saw the Beauty and the Beast show, against Meghan’s wishes, and then headed out of the park for a little while.

We went back to Pop Century, got a couple of snack credit waters, and rested in the air-conditioned room. Ashley did more homework. Meg and I took naps! We hadn’t done much today, but yesterday had been LOONNNGGG!!!!!!

By 3, we were back at the bus stop, heading back to MGM. We had a 4pm ADR at the Prime Time Café. We were seated fairly quickly, but got to sit in the living room for a few minutes. The bar area was all walled up.

Our waitress, Cousin Audrey, greeted us.
347%3B688%3C3%7Ffp5%3Enu%3D3235%3E588%3E%3A%3A%3B%3EWSNRCG%3D32325%3A%3C63%3B424nu0mrj

The girls were purposely trying to get caught breaking rules, but no dice. Until Cousin Audrey noticed Ashley chewing gum… Ashley had to spit her gum out in a napkin Cousin Audrey was holding out!

She also introduced us to our other cousins in the room – some of them came all the way from Holland! During the meal, she brought out a birthday card for Meg and had all the people at the other 3 tables sign it. The people from Holland wrote in Dutch! It was pretty cool!

It seemed the waitress was really playing mean to Ashley for a while. At one point, Ashley provoked her and the waitress said something “mean”. As Cousin Audrey started to walk away, Ashley yells, “I’m telling Mom!” And Cousin Audrey yells back across the restaurant, “Go right ahead!”

Meg had a sprite, onion rings, fried chicken, and the s’mores. Ashley had the fried herb cheese, a chicken Caesar salad, and a brownie sundae.
347%3B688%3C3%7Ffp3%3Enu%3D3235%3E588%3E%3A%3A%3B%3EWSNRCG%3D32325%3A%3C5%3A4%3A6%3Cnu0mrj

I had the fried herb cheese, chicken potpie, a Coke, and the angel food cake. Everything was excellent! I was stuffed before dessert, but I had seen a picture of the angel food cake (it’s topped with strawberries, blueberries, and whipped cream) on the Disboards, and it just looked wonderful.
347%3B688%3C3%7Ffp6%3Enu%3D3235%3E588%3E%3A%3A%3B%3EWSNRCG%3D32325%3A%3C63%3B3%3B%3Bnu0mrj

I ended up eating the WHOLE THING!!!

Meg’s s’mores came with candles
347%3B688%3C3%7Ffp4%3Enu%3D3235%3E588%3E%3A%3A%3B%3EWSNRCG%3D32325%3A%3C5%3A4%3A69nu0mrj

and the whole room sang Happy Birthday.
347%3B688%3C3%7Ffp3%3Enu%3D3235%3E588%3E%3A%3A%3B%3EWSNRCG%3D32325%3A%3C5%3A4%3A6%3Anu0mrj

After dessert, Audrey tells Meg that since she’s 16, she needs to get a job. Audrey made Meg help her to clear the table and take the dishes to the kitchen!

We made sure to say good-bye to everyone, and Meghan thanked the entire room when we left! The bill would have been $108.67.

We went through One Man’s Dream, met Mickey,
347%3B688%3C3%7Ffp3%3Enu%3D3232%3E4%3B%3B%3E637%3E23234%3B%3B728734ot1lsi

and went through the Animation Studio.
347%3B688%3C3%7Ffp3%3Enu%3D3235%3E588%3E%3A%3A%3B%3EWSNRCG%3D32325%3A%3C64362%3Anu0mrj

Then we split up – Meg was hot to get back to Tot and R’nRC, I was not. So I went and saw Muppet Vision 3D and did a little wandering through the stores before heading back to the hotel.

I checked with the concierge desk to see if I could make just MY ticket a park hopper and they said yes. That way I could do EPCOT and join them at Sci-Fi for dinner when they go back to MGM. They showed up a while later and went down to the pool for a bit. I was really MGM’d out. Since they took out Millionaire, I’m really not that interested in the park anymore – and we have another whole day planned there!!!

HIGHS: Dinner was good… I enjoyed my nap!

LOWS: Chickening out of the Big Girl rides and then beating myself up all day. Being cranky with the kids.

MILES WALKED: 6.3

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 4TH, 2006

PLANS: EPCOT, Illuminations, get those girls on Soarin’!,

BREAKFAST: Princess Storybook Breakfast @ 8:40a (TS3)
LUNCH: Mexico’s Cantina (CS3&4) (or maybe just split 1 order of nachos?)
DINNER: LeCellier @ 4:00p (TS4)

REALITY: After yesterday’s Crankfest 2006, I decided to day would be an awesome day! Go, Princess Power!!!!!!!!! Again, I’m up, showered, dressed, and coffee’d up before the kids realize their eyelids even work.

We have an 8:40 date with some princesses. I want to be out of the room by 7:40. Yeah, right. Well, a girl can dream, right? :confused3

The CM at the turnstile makes MY day by spotting Meg’s birthday buttons and reaches into her bag of tricks to pull an EPCOT button out right there! That saved us the time of stopping at Guest Services!

We had enough time to take our time and take a couple of pictures along the way.
347%3B68%3B%3C6%7Ffp4%3Enu%3D3235%3E588%3E%3A%3A%3B%3EWSNRCG%3D32325%3A%3C63%3B427nu0mrj

We checked in outside of the restaurant in Norway.
347%3B68%3B%3C6%7Ffp6%3Enu%3D3235%3E588%3E%3A%3A%3B%3EWSNRCG%3D32325%3A%3C64362%3Cnu0mrj

Meg went to look at a cart across the way. She found a pink sash with the word “Princess” printed on it. It was $8. She bought it and put all of her birthday pins on it.
347%3B68%3B%3C6%7Ffp3%3Enu%3D3235%3E588%3E%3A%3A%3B%3EWSNRCG%3D32325%3A%3C63%3B42%3Anu0mrj

And on that note, I'm off to bed again!

LOVE your trip report! :cheer2:
Great pictures, and I really appreciate all the pics of the food. I think you may have convinced me to eat at 50's Prime Time. ::yes::
Can't wait for the next installment!

Thanks for all the kind words... I can't believe how long winded I'm getting! I type in word and then copy and paste here. My 09/2005 trip report was 16 pages in Word, my 05/2006 was 32 pages. THIS report - just the pre-trip and days 1, 2, and a tiny bit of 3 are 18 pages already!

TINY LIVE REPORT FROM MY SISTER, RHONDA: Hi, down in Orlando right now! Having a great time, yesterday we went to Univer.......

Jaime here again: Sorry - I don't relay reports from traitors! :lmao:

Actually, Rhonda's been down there since the 13th and will be back NEXT Sunday! So jealous!!!

Our name is called and we head inside Restaurant Akershus. I’ve eaten dinner here once, and Meg & I have done the Princess Breakfast once. I don’t know how much the dinner menu has changed, if at all, I just know I don’t need 6 choices of how my herring is prepared. One choice of how my herring is prepared is really too much. I’m glad I tried it, but I won’t be back for dinner.

Breakfast, however, is wonderful, and I’ll be back again and again (until they put herring on the menu). Scrambled eggs, the best potatoes EVER, sausage, Bacon, Cinnamon rolls, fruit bowl, tiny little biscuits, and I think this is where we found the butter was honey butter. It no longer is at the Liberty Tree Tavern. Honey, that it. It’s just butter.

Anyway, we walk into the restaurant, and right into a line. I can’t see around corners (can you?), but I see flashes, so I realize we’re getting out picture taken with someone before being seated. (I’m smart like that!) :goodvibes

While we’re standing, just inside the door of the restaurant, servers are going back and forth in and out of the door. One of them, yes – I ‘m ratting him out right now! – STEN keeps tapping people on the shoulder as he walks by. He starts doing it to Ashley. It’s funny.

We get a couple shots with Belle in the BALL GOWN! I know that this is a big thing to a lot of people, and I’m telling the girls, “Ooh… Belle in the ball gown is rare!” But look at the picture…
347%3B73857%7Ffp6%3Enu%3D3235%3E588%3E%3A%3A%3B%3EWSNRCG%3D32325%3A%3C583%3A5%3Cnu0mrj

"eh" is all I’m saying.

Other than - I think Meg's making it perfectly clear with her body language WHO the REAL Princess is!

And Ashley and I look like a 2 headed monster, so who am I to judge Belle?

The 16-year-olds are having a hard time understanding why Belle is up front and we only get to see 4 princesses. So I tell them A.) Belle in the ball gown, blah, blah, blah… very hard to move around the tables, and B.) They want us to buy that picture. Which I did. (What can I say? It was early in the trip, Belle was in the BALL GOWN for Pete’s Sake!, and the rest of us look pretty good!)

We’re seated and I’m against a wall and Ashley has her back to the aisle. All through the meal, Sten is walking behind Ashley and tapping her shoulder. He also got 2 or 3 of his friends to do it as well. Later in the meal, Ashley had Meg tip her off when Sten was coming, and Ashley surprised him by turning and poking him in the arm about 5 times! Sten laughed and said, “Very nice. You got me!”

Our waiter was Erling.
347%3B73857%7Ffp4%3Enu%3D3235%3E588%3E%3A%3A%3B%3EWSNRCG%3D32325%3A%3C643635nu0mrj

Very nice… well, I guess at my age, I have to call him a boy. Crap. Give me a minute to grieve my youth… :sad2:

Where was I? Oh, yes, we had just sat down to breakfast in Norway! Erling – the man-boy – is our server. Erling is a low-talker. But very nice and we lacked for nothing the whole meal – including tapping. I don’t know who was having more fun – Sten or Ashley.

Ashley also started drooling over the cinnamon rolls. I picked the pineapple out of the fruit bowl (I’m allergic to melons). Erling brought Meg a birthday card and cookie.
347%3B73857%7Ffp6%3Enu%3D3235%3E588%3E%3A%3A%3B%3EWSNRCG%3D32325%3A%3C643636nu0mrj

347%3B73857%7Ffp5%3Enu%3D3235%3E588%3E%3A%3A%3B%3EWSNRCG%3D32325%3A%3C63%3B439nu0mrj

The cookie was in the shape of a Viking hat – so cute! So now Meg is happy too. And Mama can concentrate on those potatoes! Whoo-Hoo!!!

Meg’s card was signed by Princess Aurora, Snow White, Belle, Ariel, Princess Jasmine, Alice (princess wanna-be!), Cinderella (WOW! How’d they manage that one??? Lol!), and Erling.

Our first Princess to come around is Jasmine.
347%3B73857%7Ffp3%3Enu%3D3235%3E588%3E%3A%3A%3B%3EWSNRCG%3D32325%3A%3C63%3B436nu0mrj

Ashley asked her where Aladdin was, and Jasmine flawlessly replied that Aladdin was back at the Palace, taking care of Rajah’s fleas.

Next up – Mulan.
347%3B73857%7Ffp4%3Enu%3D3235%3E588%3E%3A%3A%3B%3EWSNRCG%3D32325%3A%3C643637nu0mrj

Meg asks her to sign the card and Mulan replied that she had been… nuts, can’t remember, but she was busy doing SOMETHING when the card was being prepared.

347%3B73857%7Ffp6%3Enu%3D3235%3E588%3E%3A%3A%3B%3EWSNRCG%3D32325%3A%3C644343nu0mrj

Princess Aurora

347%3B73857%7Ffp6%3Enu%3D3235%3E588%3E%3A%3A%3B%3EWSNRCG%3D32325%3A%3C643638nu0mrj

Snow White.

Turns out Ashley has something to say to each character on the trip. It was a lot of fun to see what she would tell them. And, sorry ladies, but she told EVERY Princess she was beautiful!

Before we left, the pictures came around and I bought the package, Meg devoured the Viking cookie, and the girls asked for a picture with Erling.
347%3B73857%7Ffp3%3Enu%3D3235%3E588%3E%3A%3A%3B%3EWSNRCG%3D32325%3A%3C644345nu0mrj

(Breakfast would have been $85.87)

NOW FOR A HUGE TIP: I didn’t find this out until the trip was almost over, BUT… enclosed in our Cinderella’s Royal Table pictures was a PhotoPass note. It said that there’s a PhotoPass number on the picture that can be ADDED to your PhotoPass card. It was also on our Princess Breakfast pictures!!! I wrote down both numbers and gave them to the PhotoPass people. We had planned the whole trip to buy the CD for $100, so we were trying to get as many PhotoPass shots as we could. We had 146 shots taken and 5 more from the 2 Princess Breakfasts!

Had I known this ahead of time – I would have just gotten the PhotoPass number off of these shots and saved myself the $30!

PS – There was no number on the O’Hana pictures.

It’s now 9:35am, Labor Day. (09/04/2006) We are heading over to Soarin’. Grab some fast passes and get in line. 10 minutes! The girls liked it – I don’t remember them being overly enthusiastic. I do love that every time I’ve ridden it, we start to fly back down at the end, and the whole group starts to applaud! It’s just such a “Disney” moment for me! princess:

I drag the girls over to The Seas to see Crush. There’s a decent size line, so I ask the ClipBoard Guy (that’s his title, right?) how long and he tells me 10 minutes. I’m in! (Those were my actual words, sorry.)

Unfortunately, Crush had other ideas… it was at least 30 minutes before the “technical” difficulties of doing a show with a turtle were worked out. And, it wasn’t the funniest Crush show I’ve seen. It was still good, but not the best. I couldn’t get the girls to do it again that week.

After Crush, they wanted to look at the fish. Oh, for Pete’s Sake!!! People!!!! We live 3 miles from Brookfield Zoo – if you want to see fish, I’ll take you there! Interestingly enough, to me anyway, Brookfield Zoo’s aquarium is called The Living Coast. I always mess it up and call it The Living Seas. It’s got turtles, jellyfish, seahorses, fish, eels, sharks, and (oddly) penguins. The dolphins are all the way on the other side of the zoo. Next to the seals and walruses. :confused3

Point is – I’m not looking at FISH in EPCOT!

I force them (yes, force) out of The Living Seas and over to Innovations. Meg perks up when she sees the paper making station.
347%3B73857%7Ffp3%3Enu%3D3235%3E588%3E%3A%3A%3B%3EWSNRCG%3D32325%3A%3C643639nu0mrj

She’s going to be an 80 year old woman who HAS to stop and make paper here, I just know it!

We go grab fast passes for Test Track… and it’s time for one of my famous blurs… I know, from the time stamp on my camera, that it’s about noon. I also know, from my receipts that lunch was at the Cantina in Mexico at 12:41.

FILLING IN THE BLUR: On the walk over to the World Showcase, we look over the side of the bridge into the water. There’s lily pads and we see little fish. Suddenly one of the girls spots – a TURTLE! IN the water! Meg whips out the camera to get a picture. I insist the picture won’t come out. Meg GASPS! Of course, then I gasp because I can imagine Meg’s new camera falling into the water! But it wasn’t her camera, it was her lens cap! And the turtle swam over to investigate.

We weren’t super hungry yet, but dinner was early tonight and I didn’t want us to be too hungry before that (and get all cranky! LOL!!! Yeah, cuz THAT never happens!)

The 3 of us split an order of nachos, a churro, and a bottle of water as a counter service meal ($12.33 otherwise). And Meggie HAD to have guacamole – NOT on the dining plan! It was a tiny little cup – no chips or anything – for $2.76! I think I found a huge rip-off in the park!

So, we eat a light lunch and I try to keep the girls from feeding the birds… then we’ve had it with the heat and head into the Mexican pavilion for a ride on the ever-popular It’s a Small Hispanic World. Seriously, has ANYONE ever stood in a LINE for this??? We were seated in our own boat, which oddly enough was the wheelchair boat! And I must say, the seats on that particular boat were LOW…. It was strange.

As long as we’re out in the World Showcase, let’s go on another boat ride! We head over to Norway.

As we walk into the Norway Pavilion, we pass a sign in front of the perfume shop saying that Geir Ness will be there today between 12 – 6. Means nothing to you? Would have meant nothing to me either 3 weeks ago!

And, before I tell this story, please promise to never tell my boss I got nothing accomplished for a month before this trip! I spent almost all day, every day, on the DisBoards! :surfweb:

And that’s where I read about Geir Ness. His perfume, Laila, is what the Norway pavilion smells like! I had read a thread about someone who met him in EPCOT when he was doing hand massages and signing bottles –just like he was today! :cheer2:

So, I got excited! He was there, I was there, and the Maelstrom lets out into the shop!

I was “Belle’s in a ball gown” excited! The excited you get and you don’t know why you’re excited.

So, we ride. Meg points out the 2 Hidden Mickeys in the mural to Ashley. I still can’t make out the one on the woman’s pocket – looks like Donald to me… :confused3

And when the ride starts, it skips the first line… “You are not the first to pass this vay”… all it says is, “nor will you be the last”… weird.

Ashley screams at the drop because a huge wave of water shot up and she thought she was going to get soaked… it did look like it… :rotfl:

We exit and get caught in the little fishing village because the doors closed. Trapped by a movie! Actually, the girl working the exit was to blame. She was cleaning out a boat in front of us with those long, grabby, tong things old people are suppose to use to get cans off high shelves. You know those things? My question has always been, WHO put the cans up so high to start with???

So, we wait in the boat until she picks up a crumpled piece of paper in a boat and the darn doors close. In protest, when the doors open, I walk right through the movie theater! That’ll teach her to trap me in a Norwegian village!

I head for the smelly section of the store – I’m on a mission! A “Belle-in-a-ball-gown” Mission. And I find him! Geir Ness. Still not sure at this point what I’m finding. Just know I needed to do it. I read it on the Dis. It’s gospel.

He comes right up to me and offers a hand massage. He was charming! I told him about reading about him online, he tells me about the Grammys (Laila was in the Grammy bags for the presenters). He had just come back from Europe. Massages my hand with hand cream. Dusts on some bronzer. Talks about Madonna. Spritzes me with perfume. Then offers to do Meg’s hand as well.

Wanna know where Ashley is? OUTSIDE. The girl who, every morning, covers herself in a Bath and Body Works spray that smells like grapefruit to me and then ON TOP OF THAT, sprays something else that I think was vanilla, is outside saying that LAILA gave her a headache!

And the cloud of stuff you spray on in the hotel DOESN’T??????????

Geir does Meg’s hand and tells us about the special. It’s a handbag (HE GOT ME RIGHT THERE – anyone who knows me KNOWS I can’t resist a purse or tote bag to save my life!) filled with perfume, body lotion, and lip-gloss. It’s $89.00. But the bottle of perfume in it retails for $70 ALONE! And we both LOVE the scent!

Meg & I go off to the side to confer, she hands me $20 and claims the lip-gloss and perfume. Somehow I don’t think that’s entirely fair, but like I said, he had me on handbag! (Plus, and this is safe to type because Meg NEVER reads my reports!, there was also a tiny bottle of perfume that she doesn’t know about. And I’m not telling you where it’s hidden, because YOU might tell HER!)

He was happy to see us again and said that was fast! I had it all sent back to the hotel (including the pictures from breakfast – they can do that, as long as you have the receipt I was told), except for the lip-gloss that Meg grabbed right away.

Great report! Can't wait to hear more. We are going as a family (DH DS15 DS13 DD19 and myself in Dec but DDand I are dieing? to take a girls-only trip. Sounds like a lot of fun!

There's nothing like a Girls Only Trip! This one was fun, but my favorite trips are when I get to go with my sister, Rhonda. She and I have such a blast there together!

We spent the week before I left saying, "I wish I was going with you." to each other. I was going with Meg & Ash, and she was leaving the day I came home with her boyfriend. So I haven't seen her since 09/02!

Mi Amigos, my siestas just keep getting chorter & chorter… I just woke up from a nap (ah, the busy life of a Princess…) and realized that after leaving Nor-vay this morning, we had to stop at First Aid to get Meg a new Band-Aid for her heel. Appears she chose “fashion” over “practical” when it came to footwear this trip.

The Band-Aids they give out kick tushie! :cheer2: That thing stayed on for 2 days! And they gave me 3 more, just in case.

Back to leaving Nor-vay THIS time…

Blur, blur, blur… Test Track!

The PhotoPass machines have been installed on Test Track! When you come out of the ride, you wait for your picture to come up on the screen and just stick your card into the slot of that machine before the timer runs out and your picture disappears! Or hand the card to someone working there and they’ll find your picture and add it. Or give you a new card and put your picture on it!

BACKTRACKING: Have I mentioned one of the reasons I brought Ashley? I know I have… the Big Girl rides? Well, Meg never got to go on Mission: Sinese because Ashley gets motion sick… WHY wasn’t I ever told this??? Arg……..

Over to the Universe of Ellen, ummm, I mean, Energy. Man, she cracks me up! I have seen this show over and over and I still crack up every time!

Blur, blur, blur… dinner!

Now, before you get too excited that this LOONNNGGGG day is coming to a close, there’s Good News and Bad News.

The GOOD news is that dinner is at LeCellier! :cool1:

The BAD news is that it’s at 4:00pm. Still a lot of day to cover! :rotfl2: Bwaa-haa-haa!!!

We like the first seating of dinner because it still leaves a lot of time and you never have to wait for your table. We get there about 10 minutes early and check in. One of the servers, Patrick, is talking to the girls and then stands in the vestibule of the restaurant and starts entertaining the crowd. I’ve never seen this done in LeCellier before. It was wonderful!

Patrick was in the middle of a story/joke when our name was called – we told them we wanted to wait until the story was over.

We were seated and opened the menus and they had changed slightly from May. Meg and Ashley both went with the cheese soup and loved it. I went with a smoked salmon and crab appetizer.
347%3B77%3B38%7Ffp6%3Enu%3D3235%3E588%3E%3A%3A%3B%3EWSNRCG%3D32325%3A%3C64363%3Anu0mrj

The crab was wonderful, but I’m not a huge fan of smoked salmon. It wasn’t bad though. I ended up smearing the crab portion on the breadsticks!

They allowed smoothies, so Meg got a cappuccino smoothie.
347%3B77%3B38%7Ffp4%3Enu%3D3235%3E588%3E%3A%3A%3B%3EWSNRCG%3D32325%3A%3C64363%3Bnu0mrj

I just ordered water, so I could get coffee with dessert.

Meg and I got the filet mignon, Ashley got the Caesar salad. If you’ve ever seen the Caesar salad there, you know how HUGE it is! Ash ate about half of it!

For dessert, there was another change – YIKES!!! My maple crème brulee was now a maple & vanilla bean sampler!!! But it was a good thing – the vanilla bean was almost as good as the maple!
347%3B77%3B38%7Ffp6%3Enu%3D3235%3E588%3E%3A%3A%3B%3EWSNRCG%3D32325%3A%3C644443nu0mrj

Both Ashley and I ordered the crème brulee. Meg ordered the Chocolate “Moose”
347%3B77%3B38%7Ffp6%3Enu%3D3235%3E588%3E%3A%3A%3B%3EWSNRCG%3D32325%3A%3C64434%3Bnu0mrj

and they brought a card and chocolate “mousse”, too!
347%3B77%3B38%7Ffp3%3Enu%3D3235%3E588%3E%3A%3A%3B%3EWSNRCG%3D32325%3A%3C64363%3Cnu0mrj

Meg scans the card and sees that Patrick didn’t sign it. We go up front to track him down. I ask a couple of people and they find him. I think we freaked him out a little! After he signs the card, he tells us it’s his last week and that’s why he was goofing around with the crowds all week!

Dinner over, we have another mission to accomplish! I promised Meg an oyster in Japan and I couldn’t remember if they closed at 6:30 or 8:00!

TWO FORGOTTEN ITEMS! What dinner would have cost ($138.55) and what we did BEFORE dinner! There’s a little leather stand in Canada where Meg had gotten a bracelet with her name stamped on it in May, 2004. At some point, she lost it. She wanted it replaced on this trip. So that’s what we did! The bracelet stamped with her name and 2 pirate studs cost her $9.59.

We head over to Japan, stopping to take a couple of pictures of this awesome rainbow!
347%3B77%3B38%7Ffp5%3Enu%3D3235%3E588%3E%3A%3A%3B%3EWSNRCG%3D32325%3A%3C64434%3Cnu0mrj

It looked like a postcard! But the wind really kicked up – I love Meg’s hair in the picture!
347%3B77%3B38%7Ffp5%3Enu%3D3235%3E588%3E%3A%3A%3B%3EWSNRCG%3D32325%3A%3C644445nu0mrj

I bought a slip to let her pick 2 oysters ($29.59) and she had a great time. We did not have them drilled. And I did not take any pictures!

Ashley really loved the Japan store, I could barely drag her out of there! I don’t how much she spent on Hello Kitty merchandise!

We ended up over in Morocco, where I took the girls over to the meet and greet area. There was no one there. I know I’ve mentioned Ashley’s obsession with Aladdin! We hung out for a few minutes and I left to go to the cash register to get a times guide. It said there would be characters there until 7:30. I went back to the greeting area and said it should be soon. I saw his reflection in the glass doors before he came around the corner and told Ashley to get prepared! I think her expression says it all!
347%3B77%3B38%7Ffp6%3Enu%3D3235%3E588%3E%3A%3A%3B%3EWSNRCG%3D32325%3A%3C644446nu0mrj

We had almost 5 full minutes with him before anyone else showed up. The girls loved it!
347%3B77%3B38%7Ffp5%3Enu%3D3235%3E588%3E%3A%3A%3B%3EWSNRCG%3D32325%3A%3C644355nu0mrj

Ashley asked him where Jasmine was and he replied that she was back at the palace taking care of Rajah’s fleas. Man! That is one dirty tiger!!!
347%3B77%3B38%7Ffp3%3Enu%3D3235%3E588%3E%3A%3A%3B%3EWSNRCG%3D32325%3A%3C644447nu0mrj

The girls and I are all SHOT! It’s just been so hot, it’s draining us. We decide to just let Illuminations go for the night and head back to the hotel before the crowds (I KNOW!!! It’s sacrilegious!)

Bus ride back – the girls might have gone swimming when we got back, and I was down for the count! Maybe I should stop getting up before the sun?

HIGHS: Ashley’s face when she saw Aladdin, Meg replacing her bracelet, TWO kinds of creme brulee in Canada.

LOWS: The heat, and can you believe I haven’t complained about my feet yet? They hurt. Meg and I get pretty cranky right before lunch. Every day.

MILES WALKED: 6.5
