Colleen and Phil arrive they were confused by the docks! See? I wish I had looked up that GF map earlier, but I also thought wed be by the docks! Colleen leaned over to me and told me Phil had no clue about the boat! She told him she was told the GF was a great place to watch the fireworks! I wish I could have been in his head while he tried to figure out WHY she insisted on standing on a dock an hour early in the pouring rain!
So they join the line under the overhang. They were at least smart enough to have ponchos! I have them just didnt think to bring them with me that night I figured a 3 oclock rain shower happens at 3 oclock, right? Well, not THIS trip!
Colleen came over to me to tell me the thought Phil figured it out. And then the rain started to let up! Whoo-Hoo!!! After getting another 200 towels from Chris and Rex, we got the okay to board. They had covered all the seats with towels, too. We might have looked like a ghost ship, come to think of it!
Right before we boarded, a waiter from the GF came to the boat, bearing a tray I know whats on that!!!
A LITTLE ASIDE: The Pontoon Boat: You can put 6 people up front (3 on each side) and 4 more in the back (next to the driver). Ive ridden in back (Illuminations, Jan. 2005) and up front (this trip). The views were the same. If you sit in back, you get to talk to the driver, which is usually pretty interesting. But no matter where you sit, its almost impossible to converse with the other group because of the boat engine. My one big regret is that we didnt get to talk to each other enough I would have really liked more time with Pam, Al, Jennifer, and Berry!
Plus, on this trip, because it was still raining, the back is under the canopy wed have to ask Jennifer & Berry or Pam & Al if that had any effect
Meg, me, and Thomas sat on one side up front, and Ashley, Colleen & Phil sat on the other side. We did get to talk, but not nearly enough. All 7 of these people were wonderful!
Meg & Ashley seemed to be amusing themselves with fighting with the balloons tied to the front of the boat, so I just concentrated on talking to Thomas, Colleen, and Phil. Thomas had just taken a
Disney Cruise, so that was interesting. Phil was relatively new to Disney and it appeared Colleen had converted him. Yea, Colleen!
At one point, Thomas was telling us about Splash Mountain, and how you are actually on rails coming down, not touching the water
A few days later, on the ride, as were following another boat UP the hill, Meg says, Look, Mom! That guy was right! That boats on wheels, its not touching the water! Honestly, I didnt even know the kids were listening to the conversation!
Rex got us to the general area where the fireworks would be, and they yelled up from the back of the boat if I wanted to do the cakes now. Meg goes, Cake?!? Cool! Its so hard to surprise her, because shes just like me and I want to share everything with her.
SLIGHT EXPLANATION BACKTRACK: Right before we left home, in a PM from Pam, she mentioned that her birthday was the 11th. So I called GFs bakery and changed my order from 2 cakes to 3 cakes. One would say Phil, one would say Meg, and one would say Pam. So when they ask if were ready for cake, I announce theres 3 and that were celebrating Phil, Meg, and Pam.
So I went back to get a picture of the cakes (its barely drizzling at this point).
Well, that's out of focus!
AND THERES ONLY 2 CAKES!!!!!!!!!!! Meg & Phil! I felt terrible!!!!!!!! Pam was so wonderful about it though. She said she wasnt expecting it, so she couldnt be disappointed. But I still felt so bad!!! I really wish I had checked the cakes when they showed up.
So we drift around, and we eat, and we talk, and then it starts:
wait for it...
Wait for it...
WISHES!
Yup, teared up again!
