It's kind of fun to do the impossible - Disney with a 1 month old *new 2/13/15*

Your sunshine Seasons good looks delish! That's a favorite spot for us!!

and, of course, your pics with Mickey and the gang are so sweet! :goodvibes

I'm probably the only person in the world who doesn't know this () but the shoes that Peter is wearing, are those crocs? Do they make his feet stink? DS is always warm so we let him run around barefoot or wear sandals and the sandals that he has kind of look like that but more fabricy (is this a word? Using it anway :snooty:) and it really makes his feet stink.

So the shoes Peter has on (and also, myself and Olivia that day) are Keens not Crocs. Those have become our family's sandals of choice. (Judi has them too just didn't have them on that day). I don't think they make Peter stink (well, any more than normal for a 2 year old boy)

Haven't tried the fish tacos but have had that strawberry shortcake and it is divine! I just love Sunshine Seasons, so many options.

I really enjoy the Nemo ride. Great way to relax for a bit. It really is cute.

Aw great family pics with the characters!

Hopefully one day we will make it to SS for breakfast but we enjoyed the different optioned they had there for lunch and really nice dessert selection too.

Fully agree about the Nemo ride and generally not much of a wait so can hit it up almost any time.

Thank you! So glad we decided to go in on a memory maker share!

Sleeping in??? I don't know what that is! Granted no matter how late we stay up, we are ALWAYS up by 7... EPCOT was a good choice for a late morning though! Sunshine Seasons looks really yummy. I don't think we have done a full meal here besides some breakfast items. Those fish tacos look delicious and its the first time I've read about those.

And, I don't think we have ever stopped to play after Spaceship Earth! Usually it's our first ride (btw, was the FP needed there???) so we are ready to continue on, though we always play after Nemo and Figment. Funny.

ANyway looking forward to more!

Well, as our first time there, can't comment too much on Sunshine Seasons but definitely seems like a nicer quick service option with a number of different choices.

That's funny in that I think the only attraction we always stop after to play the games at is SSE! I don't think we have ever done the ones after Nemo and only have done the ones at Figment like once. I think they have games at Test Track too, but obviously we haven't done those yet. SSE has a number of cool games - the big one for us is that energy game, but they have a driving simulator and a few others as well.

So the FP+ at SSE definitely helped. The line wasn't huge but it was probably ~15 minutes or so, maybe 20mins. Seems like since they installed FP+ SSE has seen the lines go up a bit ... though some of that might have been due to tiering and since that is now gone maybe it will drop down a bit. So I don't see it as a "must have" like for Soarin' but definitely more helpful than for Turtle Talk or something like that where you really don't need one.

Hey, sometimes you just have to sleep! It's important!

I love Turtle Talk, always a good time! And SE in German could be fun! :rotfl:

I may be the only one that just doesn't get the appeal of World Showcase. :duck: I'm glad you enjoy it though!

YAY for strawberry shortcake!!!!!!!!

I love that picture of Peter looking at you from his clam. So cute. And he looks a lot less miserable than he did in Sunshine Seasonings! I feel his pain. That's how I always feel in the heat!

Mickey telling everyone to be quiet because Emma was sleeping is the CUTEST!!! :goodvibes

I just spent my lunch break (and then some) reading this entire thread! My boss thanks you ;)

What fun - definitely can't wait to hear what comes next. My son is 4, so in between your two older kids and I LOL at the picture of your sons "discontent" in the Winnie the Pooh line. We had a couple of those as well!

Can't wait to read more!

Our first, but definitely not our last time at Sunshine Seasons! Thank you! hard to take a bad picture with Mickey :goodvibes

And with our kids (especially Peter) we probably didn't get that much more sleep but just to kinda taking it easier that morning helped lower the stress a bit.

World Showcase is definitely unique and I can kinda get that it isn't for everyone, but I think it is that uniqueness that makes me like it so much ... and the variety of adult beverages doesn't hurt either ;)

Peter definitely got my skin tone - where we don't tan but just go from white - to off white - to red, so he shows the heat. More pictures coming later where you can tell both kids are pretty hot (mostly came from standing in line to meet princesses)

We got a couple of really good reactions to Emma from characters - and Mickey's was one of the best for sure! :thumbsup2

Hey, anything I can do to help out the US Work Force I am happy to do :rotfl2:

Peter definitely isn't afraid to show his emotions and definitely likes to push boundaries - that little photo sequence really showed it off I thought.

Thanks!

Olivia didn't get called on this time (granted last time she did get called on she only managed to sneeze, so might not be that bad she was skipped over this time).

Oh my, that is TOO funny! :lmao::lmao::lmao:

I absolutely love Mickey's reaction to sleeping Emma.

It was kinda funny as she totally froze up on what she wanted to ask and then eventually sneezed. Crush, of course, said "Gesundheit" and then moved on :rotfl2:

We got some great interactions with some of the characters and Emma but that was one of the sweetest and a little unexpected - so glad I captured it :goodvibes

Those fish tacos look great!

You're not lying about Nemo being miles and miles long, GEESH! The queue is nicely and done and all but not sure we need to walk miles to get in our clamshells. HA!

Great pics of the character spot. That is sweet of Mickey to keep everyone quiet. I have a sweet pic of Landen sleeping and Mickey is looking over him. It is one of my favorites!

Sunshine Seasons is one of my favorite quick service locations at Epcot! I think the only other one I like as much is the Moroccan quick service. Looks like you guys all made some good choices!

That is pretty funny that Peter chose to listen to Spaceship Earth in German instead of English! Ha!

Love the pictures of the family with the characters!

The fish tacos were really good - very fresh tasting - and they weren't kidding when they called them "spicy" ;)

Downside with that queue is that it is all permanent, no ropes they can move to shorten the walk when not crowded. But at least it is very air conditioned so feels pretty good when it is hot

sounds like a very sweet picture :goodvibes

So many good places to eat at EPCOT - wish they would move some to DHS or some other parks at times :rotfl2:

Not sure if Peter chose to listen in German as much as he chose "a button that wasn't the button Daddy wanted" :rotfl:

Thank you :goodvibes

First, I'm not the biggest fan of the movie Dodgeball, but I say "That's a bold strategy Cotton" at least once a day…

I also don't think I've ever eaten at Sunshine Seasons…shhh don't tell anyone they'll take away my DISer card. That pizza panini looks pretty great, though and the red velvet :cloud9:

Bahahaha German Spaceship Earth.

No, 32.7 miles in the dark sounds about right.

Mickey shushing everyone so Emma can sleep is too adorable :goodvibes

I think when you go to Disney with kids, sleeping in is essential. You need that extra rest to take on the parks and little ones!:rotfl:

I'm glad your finally ate at Sunshine Seasons, it's actually one of my favorite QS locations. Their chipotle turkey sandwich is delicious.
And that kids Mac & Cheese...I swear they do something special with it, because it seems like every kid that gets it loves it. :confused3

Good to hear you were allowed to bring the baby carrier on Nemo. Even if it did mean you had to lug it through the queue that never ends.:lmao:

I am fully in the camp that you don't need to like a movie to be able to quote it. Also, I totally need to start using "That's a bold strategy Cotton" in daily live

No worries, I've already stated I've never ridden Test Track. I've also never had School Bread. I think we can fully use this thread as a form of a DIS Confesional if it will help people :goodvibes

Food was overall really good at Sunshine Seasons so definitely keep it in mind if the right situations arises

And carrying Emma in the carrier made that 32.7 miles feel like about 56.3 miles ;)

I agree! Definitely one of the more adorable gifs ever made (though I may be biased)

We definitely tried to space things out a bit so setting this as our "late" day fit into that. Definitely helped (though went against my nature)

And not just kids - I could have eaten that whole thing of Mac & cheese too! And it was a good sized portion as well. Definitely felt like we got our money's worth at that location

♫♪♫ This is the queue that never end .... yes it goes on and on my friend ... some people starting walking it not knowing what it was ... and they'll continue walking it forever just because it is the queue that never ends .... /♫♪♫ :rotfl2:

Mmm, love Sunshine Seasons! Always a good choice.

Haha, German Spaceship Earth! Nice way to change it up on dad, Peter! :rotfl2:

I have a feeling your kids were better at that power game after SE than Dug and I were when we tried it.

I don't understand why they make long queues like Nemo with no way to shorten them if demand is low. :confused3

Twas our first, but likely not our last stop at Sunshine Seasons ... though some times hard with all the options at EPCOT, especially during food and wine

Well, Olivia's gotten pretty good. Peter had some issues with the paddle things so I had to "help" a bit :rolleyes1

I am pretty sure there was something there before Nemo so they probably just took over that queue, but yeah - even to eliminate some of it would help when really slow :confused3

I am loving your trip report.

I think my favorite part is having to ride Spaceship Earth with the German soundtrack. I'm still laughing while I type this and thing about it. One of those once in a lifetime memories.

Okay I've been bad at keeping up with the TRs, so I'm here and caught up and I'll be better. I promise.

Sleeping is needed sometimes. I'm pro-sleeping at Disney if you've been before.

We still have only eaten the Strawberry Shortcake, so maybe we need to get past that someday.

German is a fun way to hear Spaceship Earth, right? ;)

You were only being a good father to step in and help out with the game.

Seems like a good estimate of The Seas queue.

How considerate of Mickey. What a class act that mouse is.

I love your Goofy picture where you're all sassily posing. Very fab.

:welcome: thanks for joining Valerie!

It was so funny as during that time he is pushing buttons and I am sure to get it back on English and it was if he knew exactly when time would run out and hit "Deutsche" right before it changed screens and didn't leave me enough time to change it back. Oh well, I am sure he got the gist of the attraction :thumbsup2

Very true - and I think since we weren't necessarily planning on going this summer and it was almost a "bonus" trip missing a few hours of park time was easier to take. Plus, as you will see in pictures in the coming updates we got quite a bit of sun/heat in EPCOT that day so few hours was a good thing in the end.

Absolutely, and as someone who is of 100% German ancestry I can assure you that everything sounds beautiful, calming, and poetic when spoken in German ;)

Thanks - pretty sure I got it within a hectometer or two at least.

Mickey is very thoughtful, I agree

I thought we got a number of good pictures with Goofy - was a fun meet.

Part 27 - These Little Beauties

Before today's TR update just wanted to post one other thing. Those of you that read the pre-trip report know that I was able to procure t-shirts that had images that merged the DC universe with 2 of the Haunted Mansion stretching room paintings. Well, they released the other 2 - so now I have a complete set. Though, Emma doesn't look too impressed:

162y_9a5_udpu1.jpg

And speaking of Emma - she is now three months old!

j2hs_482_udpu1.jpg

******************

Ok so back to the trip report where I left off lying a little bit as we had one more stop to make before heading into World Showcase ... and that would be for our last FP+ we had scheduled and was for:

2dbt_7d9_udpu1.jpg

At this point Emma was sleeping so we decided to have Judi take her and Peter on Living with the Land while I took Olivia on Soarin'. Olivia seemed very excited but I think she was a bit confused as to exactly how it worked and I tried to explain how it would move us into the air and we would be flying over California and she thought it meant we were really going to be flying out of the building, etc.

When we got to the loading area I realized we were going to be placed towards the back and to the side so I asked the CM if we could wait for the next one to we could be in the front and center and was informed that was no problem and just to hang back.

415u_30e_udpu1.jpg

Plus this allowed us to hear the safety information from Patrick twice (much of which I was quoting for Olivia, to the delight of several in the queue).

Including noting that you need to safely secure these little beauties:

1dxf_325_udpu1.gif

Once we were in flight Olivia really enjoyed it - though she kept asking questions during the flight and it went something like this

Olivia: What that?
Me: A plane
Olivia: Oh, What's that?
Me: Um, that's a spot on the film
Olivia: Oh, What's that?
Me: Another spot

... so yeah, I think the film needs some updating. Excited for the rumored new film and flight path! :hyper:

After we returned back we switched off and Judi went to ride Soarin' However, Peter had now fallen very asleep and I didn't see how I could carry him and Emma in her carrier to re-ride Living with the Land - so we decided to just wait at the Soarin' exit ... and of course Emma woke up so I did my best to keep her calm while we waited what felt like about 4 hours for Judi to come back (but was probably more like 20-25 mins).

I think this picture kinda sums up traveling to Disney World with three little kids:

3juo_4b8_udpu1.jpg

After Judi came back we stopped at the FP+ Kiosk near Innoventions to see if we could get another one for something we wanted and elected to get one for the Illuminations viewing area (spoiler alert: this worked out great for us!)

Extra FP+ secured we now (finally, I know) are heading to the World Showcase. As I had mentioned it was pretty hot that day so first order of business was some refreshments. My two favorite places for adult beverages in The World Showcase are the first stops on either direction, and since we turned right, we headed towards the beer cart at the Canadian Pavilion.

I secured a Unibroue Trois Pistoles and Judi got a Unibroue Éphémère (pictures kinda illustrates the difference in our beer tastes):

5qdx_7e9_udpu1.jpg

We both enjoyed our choices! The Trois Pistoles is quite the strong ale with a lot of notes of dark fruit up front (Raisins, plums, some cherry, etc.). It actually has a bit of sweetness to it but enough maltiness to balance it out. I think I prefer the La Fin du Monde to it slightly, but this is still really, really good.

The sign actually had the previous version of the Éphémère they had there (which was the cherry version) rather than the current Apple one they had just switched too - Judi was interested in the cherry. While they normally aren't supposed to do this they did let Judi try the new beer first since the sign hadn't been updated. That act earned that cast member a Thank You card:

Beverages secured, the family went to get in line to meet Belle and I went to get some treats for everyone to enjoy while in line.

This might give you a hint as to where I went:

o1pt_9c7_udpu1.gif

Yes, I was off to another place that was new for us - the L'Artisan de Glaces

98hi_414_udpu1.jpg

I mean, come on! It's 16 flavors handcrafted from scratch! As opposed to being handcrafted from already mostly made stuff :confused3

The main thing we were after were the Croque Glacé - which is any Flavor Ice Cream in a Warm Brioche with Chocolate or Raspberry Sauce.

We went with the Caramel Fleur de Sel Ice Cream with Chocolate Sauce and the Pistachio with Raspeberry Sauce.

These are the other "little beauties" the update title refers to:

e4in_81c_udpu1.jpg

I brought them back to find everyone kinda roasting in line as the line for Belle was mostly out in the sun. So these definitely hit the spot! They were, in a word, Awesome!, but, especially in the heat, rather messy - so be prepared for that. They are also pretty large - the 2 of them were plenty for the 4 of us.

Since the line wasn't moving (as Belle wasn't out yet) Judi took Emma (and then Peter and Olivia later followed) over to a bench that was in the shade while I waited in line. I chatted with two girls in front of me that were from China and participating in the cultural exchange program. For one of the girls it was her last day before heading out so she was trying to do all the things she hadn't gotten to do. They both said how much they enjoyed their time there and was nice to chat with them and learn more about their experiences.

Eventually the line started moving again and then it was our turn - in total, probably waited about 30 mins but seemed longer in the sun.

First, have to get that signature:

d28k_820_udpu1.jpg

Then show off Emma to Belle:

1paj_cee_udpu1.jpg

Then a nice pose (though you can see how the heat was getting to Peter):

1m3o_510_udpu1.jpg

Belle was really sweet with the kids and really tried to engage Peter some.

Coming up next - one of the highlights of our trip! Hint: It involved picking out the ugliest and hairiest ones ;)
