It's kind of fun to do the impossible - Disney with a 1 month old *new 2/13/15*

If the pineapple wouldn't kill me, I'd totally have a Dole Whip for dinner! I frequently have coffee floats for breakfast when in Disney.... sugar and caffeine, what's not to love! :rotfl:

If I had 3 kids... yeah, totally all over the dessert party. Looks like it worked out really well for you!

And I love the Railroad!

I must, must, must ride on the WDW Railroad during my next trip. I always mean to do it and it always gets pushed to the bottom of the list... next time I need to make it a must do!

Hooray for ice cream for dinner! Although I'm not a big fan of the pineapple Dole Whip* (hopefully such a comment doesn't get me kicked off the DISboards!) I'd really like to try the orange swirl there.

*Yes I don't understand it either. I LOVE pineapple but don't like the Dole Whip? Craziness, I tell you...

I agree, I thought the dessert party was pretty fun! I did in in 2013 when you had to stalk the thread on the dining boards in order to jump in and make your ADR. Making the ADR was a little stressful, but I thought it was nice to just be around a few hundred people instead of a few thousand. Plus, I'm in for anything that involves dessert! :p

Holy cow, they removed the Fastpass tiering?! When did that happen? :confused3 Perhaps I need to spend more time on the park boards... (If that holds, that will change up several of my planned Fastpass+ reservations for my next trip.)

I feel a little behind and am now all caught up.

I love your pictures of your A&E meet & greet! The kids really looked as if they enjoyed it! Our Anna was perfect!!! It really is a great meet and greet!

I just love BOG! Lunch is juat as fun as dinner especially since they bring out your food in the beautiful food carts! Really the only reason I could see it being worth going for dinner is to see the beast other wise it seems to be the same expirence. One advantage to lunch is you don't have to wait as long before you are back out enjoying the park.

I tried a Dole whip for the first time and I have to say I could probally have one for breakfast, lunch , AND Dinner and of course anytime in between. It was by far by favorite snack!
The Desert party looks great!! We may have to try that on our next trip. Seeing Tink fly over you had to be sooooo cool!!!

Hi Phil!

I just got all caught up with your TR! :)

That was a lot of catching up but I really loved reading all of it!

I love that when you first started planning Emma was "TBD", so cute.

Also, congrats on the birth of Emma- she is just adorable. You have a beauitful family!

I really liked all the pictures of your room at the Contemporary. I've never really seen what the rooms there looked like.

I have added Tusker House to my list of "Future ADR's"! It looks really good and we love breakfast!

You got some really great pictures on your safari- even lions!! We did the safari twice on our trip and didn't see any lions :confused3

Sanaa and Ohana are also going on the list of Future ADR's! I loved the pictures of you guys with your Lapu Lapus!! YUMM!

What a wonderful idea to do your own BBB! Olivia looks so pretty all dressed up like Cinderella. :)

Adorable pictures of your meet & greet with Anna & Elsa. We missed our FP+ for that on our last MK day...seriously how did we do this?! Haha, there's always next time.

Your BOG lunch looks delicious! It's nice eating in a castle twice in one day :rotfl:

You probably wanted to yell at me when I said we didn't enjoy Jungle Cruise!! I promise I will give it another try on our next trip! :thumbsup2

Dole Whips for dinner=

I'm glad you were able to the Dessert party! I would love to do this in the future. It looks yummy and nice to not be in the middle of all the other people trying to watch the show. I love Wishes and Celebrate the Magic but I got a little claustrophobic standing in the middle of all of those people!

Can't wait to read more and actually be more timely with my responses! :)

:rotfl: at Danny the Dancing Dog.

When I did Keys to the Kingdom our tour guide highlighted the transition from Main Street to Adventureland as the best one so I'd have to agree with you there!!

Fruit and dairy are two of the most important food groups so no judgment here.

I looooved those Oreo Mickeys when I did the dessert party! I agree, great variety and all the desserts were good.

I am so jealous of that Tinkerbell view! It was raining all day when we did the dessert party so it wasn't safe for her to fly, but WOW that is an awesome view.

And I love the Railroad!

While I love Dole Whips - probably not worth death ;) Ooh, love the coffee floats from the Sleepy Hallow Inn

Dessert Party definitely worked out as good - or even better - that I was hoping ... very glad we decided to try it

Hey, if the railroad was good enough for Walt, it is good enough for me!

I must, must, must ride on the WDW Railroad during my next trip. I always mean to do it and it always gets pushed to the bottom of the list... next time I need to make it a must do!

The train is great to do at least once and one thing to keep in mind is that you can take it just part way around so if you ever need to get to another part of the park you can remember to take the train there!

Judi always gets the orange one. I like it, but like the pineapple better and just reminds me of being at Disney. That is a little funny as I know people that don't like the pineapple Dole Whip, but not sure if I had heard of anyone that does like pineapple but didn't like it.

Yeah, I was glad I was able to snag something for the dessert party. even though it might not be *as* popular it was definitely sold out. It was great to not have to compete for space on Main St and be there super, super early. Overall worked out great for us :thumbsup2

Holy cow, they removed the Fastpass tiering?! When did that happen? :confused3 Perhaps I need to spend more time on the park boards... (If that holds, that will change up several of my planned Fastpass+ reservations for my next trip.)

It just happened the other day and I don't know all the details so definitely check it out before you change anything but I think it is for good (not just a trial period). Not sure why they started doing it now though wonder if part of it is that Maelstrom (which was a tier 1 attraction) is now closed.

I feel a little behind and am now all caught up.

Thanks for catching up Kathy - hope all is well.

I agree that the Anna and Elsa's they have have been great and while super challenging to get the FP+ for or the long wait, it is a great meet and greet!

Well, the other reason to eat dinner at BOG is to have an adult beverage in the Magic Kingdom ;) I agree that lunch there is great - though I would like to try dinner there once to at least try it.

I recall reading that you got a Dole Whip for the first time and loved it - it really is a great snack and pretty much unique to Disney World (unless you go to Hawaii) so it is definitely a "must get" snack for us.

I think your crew would love the dessert party and it is nice that it isn't quite as crazy and you get a dedicated area so perhaps your husband would be up for it as well.

That's cool that they pointed that out on the Tour. I mean, a lot of them are great and I love how traveling from the beginning of Liberty Square back to Big Thunder Mountain is like walking back in time and each attraction/building you pass is set to be / modeled as slightly older than the previous and stuff like that. Just feel the shift to Adventureland is so immersive right on that bridge.

I thought the Oreo Mickeys were pretty good but I think they are one of those things that when I saw them I wanted them to be amazing and they didn't quite live up to that. Still goo though.

Bummer that Tink couldn't fly - it is pretty cool getting to watch her come closer and closer to you :thumbsup2

Hi Phil!

I just got all caught up with your TR! :)

That was a lot of catching up but I really loved reading all of it!

:welcome: thanks for joining Lauren and for catching up! :thumbsup2

I love that when you first started planning Emma was "TBD", so cute.

Also, congrats on the birth of Emma- she is just adorable. You have a beauitful family!

Thank you very much! Yeah, we had to put something in and actually I don't think we had settled on a name at the time so that is what it went to.

We really like the food at Tusker House - love the variety there in that you can get some *different* things but they do still have Mickey waffles and stuff like that.

I think we got really lucky with the lions and I happened to capture them at the right time. That is the best we have ever seen them. It's fun how each trip on the Safari is a little different.

Sanaa and Ohana are also going on the list of Future ADR's! I loved the pictures of you guys with your Lapu Lapus!! YUMM!

Sanaa is definitely a new favorite of ours - and to get to eat while watching the animals out the window is really cool!

'Ohana is still really good and a fun time. The seem to keep changing the menu though (some for good, some for bad) but the meats were the best we have ever had there which was great (and have heard this from others as well so perhaps they changed it up a bit how they prepare them)

Thank you - definitely works for us $-wise and Olivia is fine with it. Maybe will do the real BBB some day for but now this works great for us.

Thanks! We really enjoyed the A&E meet & greet ... wow, you guys missed your FP+ for that? Oh well - just another reason to book a next trip ;)

Your BOG lunch looks delicious! It's nice eating in a castle twice in one day :rotfl:

You probably wanted to yell at me when I said we didn't enjoy Jungle Cruise!! I promise I will give it another try on our next trip! :thumbsup2

yeah, I mean, no big deal but yeah, ate in two different castles in the same day ... do you not get to do that often? ;) :rotfl:

I totally get that the Jungle Cruise is not for everyone ... though I will say that the level that those on your boat are into it and the bad puns can play a role. When everyone is into it it is a lot more fun than when everyone is quite and not really playing along.

Especially in front of the castle it can get a bit nuts for Celebrate the Magic. So I think you would really like doing the dessert party. For Wishes you can also check out "other" places to watch it like back in Fantasyland - totally different experience and generally not crowded.

Haven't been on the WDW train, only over at DLR, but looking forward to doing this. DS loved doing the grand tour a few weeks ago, so this will be a nice time to relax and break up the day.

Aw, Olivia looks so excited on the Jungle Cruise. So cute!

I always wondered if it was frowned upon for getting an extra cup for ice cream so that you can share. Glad to hear they don't mind giving it to you..or not charging you either!

Nice family photo on PotC. Peter looks pretty happy in this picture though! Or maybe it's because you're about to exit the ride:lmao:

I would love to do the Dessert Party. I'm not sure DS would do good with the fireworks though. He seemed okay from far away when Disneyland was doing their firework show (we had a good view from Disney's California Adventure) but the viewing area seems really close.

Part 25 - Um, I don't speak the German very well

So this morning we slept in. I know. Sleeping in at Disney!

58267-Thats-a-bold-strategy-cotton-Q6He.gif

Well, after having a full day the previous day we really needed it. So we arrived at our destination that day which was EPCOT ... which also is kinda crazy that we waited until day 4 to get here when it is my favorite park.

I am posting this picture because:
A) It is the first one I have and has the time stamp of 10:54am
2) Shows that despite sleeping in we needed us some Starbucks
iii) Lastly, shows pretty typical Peter

2noo_5cd_udpu1.jpg

So after getting some caffine we were off for more sustenance - in this case, we headed towards The Land to eat at Sunshine Seasons. Judi took Olivia to the bathroom while I took Peter and Emma over to the Land and waited.

You'll notice in this shot that Peter's face is already pretty flushed - it was pretty hot that day ... future pictures will reflect this - you have been warned.

4v46_44c_udpu1.jpg

This may come as a bit of a shock, but we had never eaten at Sunshine Seasons before. I know, I know but at least we were rectifying that now. I think because we typically come during Food & Wine Festival we largely eat at the booths.

Olivia got the pizza panini which was kinda like a giant grilled cheese wedge with pizza sauce to dip it in. I tried it and it was pretty good - definitely right up her alley and she enjoyed it.

5gsn_23f_udpu1.jpg

Peter got Mac & Cheese and, of course, devoured it. It was pretty good mac & cheese I must say. Both kids meals also came with grapes and carrots sticks.

5xby_76f_udpu1.jpg

I went in search of food for Judi and I (and desserts) and I recalled reading in another trip report that the fish tacos here were really good. I am totally blanking on who made that comment so if you are reading this TR "thank you" and "I'm sorry for forgetting ... still friends?".

Spicy Fish Tacos: topped with Cabbage Slaw and Poblano Pepper Ailoi and Potato Salad
They were really good - very fresh tasting. Though I will say that there was a decent spice level to them - I mean, they have "spicy" in the title but things advertized as such aren't always that spicy, but these definitely weren't being falsely advertized - Judi found it a bit much for her. Just something to keep that in mind.

6yx4_e0d_udpu1.jpg

For dessert we all split the creme brulee, the red velvet sandwich, and (finally!) the strawberry shortcake. They were all pretty good and the strawberry shortcake definitely lives up to the hype - the syrup/sauce that the strawberries are in is really good!

We kinda didn't time our FP+'s well today as we would have to come back to the Land pavilion later for our Soarin' FP+, but we were leaving now and on our way to our first FP+ which was for Space Ship Earth.

This is one of my favorite rides and just something that I feel is a must do each trip. However, this trip through time would be a little different for me as at the last second Peter hit the "Deutsche" button meaning I got to hear all about the history of communication in German. Oh well, I think I got the gist of it.

Like normal I had trouble getting great pictures, but here are a couple to prove that we were really there:

cykt_6f1_udpu1.jpg

1mqf_7d1_udpu1.jpg

One of my favorite parts of the attraction is the games afterward. I tend to get a bit too competitive at the energy game so I let the kids play:

iupj_fb3_udpu1.gif

I believed they produced enough energy to power Cairo ... I may have stepped in at one point to ensure a solid score.

We actually spent a good amount of time in there before heading to our next attraction.

(continued next post)

Part 26 - Duuuuuuuuuuude!!!!

After Spaceship Earth we headed over to the Seas with Nemo and Friends to ride ... The Seas with Nemo and Friends (we get it, Nemo is there, does the attraction and the pavilion need to have the same name?).

When we went to park the stroller the cast member there said that we would be able to take Emma in her carrier on the ride with us. So I got to lug it through the roughly 32.7 miles* that is the queue and we split up into two clams - myself with Emma in one and Olivia and Peter with their mom in another

* my estimate, probably not factual

174w_303_udpu1.jpg

I think it is a really cute ride and love when they project the characters into the actual fish tank - think it is a pretty cool effect. Plus the starfish at the end asking if he can come with you and that he is sick of the song is pretty funny too.

After that we went to go talk with Crush, and while we were waiting looked at the sharks and the actual Nemos they have in the tanks in the waiting area.

1djj_3a6_udpu1.jpg

Turtle Talk was very fun and funny like always. Peter sat with us as he didn't want to sit up front, but Olivia went right up front to sit with the other "big" kids.

1hku_597_udpu1.jpg

Olivia didn't get called on this time (granted last time she did get called on she only managed to sneeze, so might not be that bad she was skipped over this time).

eaea_125_udpu1.gif

After this we headed over to our next FP+ which was for the Character Spot. We had passed this earlier and the wait was listed at 40 mins so I thought I had made a really good call getting a FP+ for this ... though when we actually made it here the wait was only 10 mins. Oh well.

While it was even better in the past when they had 5 characters meeting here, to be able to get to see Mickey, Goofy, and Minnie is still pretty good. We got a lot of nice PP pictures and the kids seemed to really enjoy it.

Mickey also asked everyone to keep quiet as Emma was sleeping:

Coming up next, we venture into the World Showcase. A.K.A. The Best part of Walt Disney World

TTFN

Cool!!! Nothing like sleeping in at Disney! (Especially with the view out your window in the morning.)

Sunshine Seasons isn't my favorite place to eat (I usually prefer to eat somewhere in the World Showcase.), but we usually eat there at least once per trip so Stephanie can get her strawberry shortcake. Glad to see that you weren't disappointed with the hype!!!! The fish tacos look good too. I'll be trying that the next time we eat there :thumbsup2

That's funny about the German narration on Spaceship Earth. I never even noticed a button to change languages before. We'll probably try it just for the fun of it next time.

You got some real keepers in that batch of photos with Mickey, Minnie, and Goofy!!! (Especially the one with Peter and Goofy!)

Nothing wrong with a late start! Haha too funny that you rode SE in German! Great character spot pics, the GIF with Mickey is absolutely precious!

Haven't been on the WDW train, only over at DLR, but looking forward to doing this. DS loved doing the grand tour a few weeks ago, so this will be a nice time to relax and break up the day.

I think your son would love the train - just cool to be on it and you get to take a nice relaxing break too while touring the park.

Never had any issues there asking for extra cups - was definitely not expecting the extra ice cream though!

It didn't feel too close to the fireworks from the dessert party viewing area - definitely not any close than most of Main St. Peter sometimes doesn't do well with loud noises and he didn't have any issues.

one of the places I love to watch the fireworks is from behind the castle - but that can get really loud so I would avoid that :goodvibes

No worries about sleeping in Phil. I've even done it from time to time. Much better to break that Disney rule than suffer the consequences later.

Ah Sunshine Seasons. Such a great spot for Strawberry Shortcake!!

Seriously though, how many rides also teach you German?

HAHAHAHA YES!!! Ridiculously long queue at the Seas. It does make the ride that much better though because, you know, rest.

I do miss the character spot not being all of the Fab 5. It was only place to do that PLUS all in their traditional outfits. But I guess 3 out of 5 isn't too bad for essentially one wait.

What a fun update!

Starbucks is always needed...no matter if you sleep in or not.

Look at poor little Peter's face. :(

I can't believe you've never eaten at Sunshine Seasons. Thankfully, it was a hit for you guys (try the kids breakfast platter sometime...very good!).

I love Spaceship Earth too...but for sentimental reasons (my Dad's favorite ride). I remember on our girls trip, one of the girls picked a different langague. Thankfully, I've been on the ride enough to know what is going on. ;)

I am glad they let you take the baby wrapped on the Nemo ride. Great picture of the real Nemo.

Oh....I love Mickey telling everyone to be quiet because Emma is sleeping.:love::love:

All of those photopass pics turned out great. :thumbsup2

We almost always have pre-park opening ADRs so not arriving at a park until 11am felt strange to us. But definitely just part of this "go with the flow" trip. Definitely was a good thing though as with how hot it was no way we would have made it as long as we did if we had started earlier

We definitely got food, er well, drinks in the World Showcase but I wanted to try that strawberry shortcake at least once and was a good place for us to kinda settled and plan out the day a bit (beyond the FP+) after we arrived. Fish Taco's were definitely good!

I too love that one with Peter and Goofy :goodvibes ... amazing how much better he was with the characters this trip compared to the one about 10 months prior

Nothing wrong with a late start! Haha too funny that you rode SE in German! Great character spot pics, the GIF with Mickey is absolutely precious!

If it was my first time on the ride I probably would have been more annoyed. I do speak some German so between that and knowing the script fairly well it wasn't too bad. More of those "really? really Peter?" moments. :rotfl:

No worries about sleeping in Phil. I've even done it from time to time. Much better to break that Disney rule than suffer the consequences later.

Ah Sunshine Seasons. Such a great spot for Strawberry Shortcake!!

Absolutely - and with how hot it got we would not have lasted very long if we had not slept in. Definitely worked out in the end was just another thing that was a bit different for us this trip.

Definitely a great spot for some Strawberry Shortcake ... I mean "SS" - "Sunshine Seasons" - "Strawberry Shortcake" - it's like they did that on purpose

Well, not sure how much German it taught us ... did reconfirm to us how many long words there are in the German Language as some scenes the audio would barely finish before getting to the next one :lmao:

The queue is also very enjoyable on a hot day as it is rather cool in there. But when the ride isn't crowded (i.e., basically always) it's just funny how long you have to walk

Yeah, it was very cool when it was all of the 5 but it is great to know you'll at least get three of them for one FP+

Thank you Kathy! I agree about Starbucks ... generally does not take much arm twisting for Judi or I to convince the other to stop there.

The plan actually was to get breakfast at Sunshine Seasons but they had switched to lunch by the time we got there. Definitely enjoyed it and liked the variety of food they had and it all looked pretty fresh too (I mean, one would hope so being in The Land and all)

Great picture of the real Nemo.

aw, that is sweet. I definitely think feelings like that connect us to rides. My dad's love of trains definitely draws me towards them and thinking how much he would have enjoyed being able to ride the MK train with his grandson

So apparently the rule is that you can take babies in their car seat carriers on rides that don't have lap bars (e.g., Nemo) but not on any that do even is same basic set up (e.g., Ariels' ride which has a lap bar due to the part you go backwards "under water")

Oh....I love Mickey telling everyone to be quiet because Emma is sleeping.:love::love:

All of those photopass pics turned out great. :thumbsup2

I saw that part with Mickey reviewing my video and loved it! A number of the characters were really sweet in how they interacted with Emma

Thank you!

I'm probably the only person in the world who doesn't know this () but the shoes that Peter is wearing, are those crocs? Do they make his feet stink? DS is always warm so we let him run around barefoot or wear sandals and the sandals that he has kind of look like that but more fabricy (is this a word? Using it anway :snooty:) and it really makes his feet stink.

Haven't tried the fish tacos but have had that strawberry shortcake and it is divine! I just love Sunshine Seasons, so many options.

I really enjoy the Nemo ride. Great way to relax for a bit. It really is cute.

Aw great family pics with the characters!

Sleeping in??? I don't know what that is! Granted no matter how late we stay up, we are ALWAYS up by 7... EPCOT was a good choice for a late morning though! Sunshine Seasons looks really yummy. I don't think we have done a full meal here besides some breakfast items. Those fish tacos look delicious and its the first time I've read about those.

And, I don't think we have ever stopped to play after Spaceship Earth! Usually it's our first ride (btw, was the FP needed there???) so we are ready to continue on, though we always play after Nemo and Figment. Funny.

ANyway looking forward to more!
