"It's Coming and it's BLUE" - A July 2010 TR - COMPLETED!!

I know. I've debated just hiding in the bushes and hoping that my family forgets about me, but it's never worked. They always remember. Why do my parents have to be such good parents? :rotfl:

Yeah, I don't really know what was up with the monorail. But I've stayed at the Polynesian 6 times and I've never had a single monorail issue aside from that one, so I'm sure everything will be A-OK for your trip! :thumbsup2

Oh my gosh. The post-Wishes crowds in July are TERRIFYING. I'm a tad on the claustrophobic side, so it's awful. There are just so many people! And they're all moving in different directions! And there are a zillion strollers everywhere! It's horrible.

I think I may need to borrow someone's preschooler so that I can justify spending time playing in the new Pooh queue.

Aw, I hope you get to ride in the front this summer. I've never actually ridden in the front (I like having people in front of me...I'm weird like that) but my sister swears by it. It's the unspoken rule in our family that Katie gets the front seat on Splash Mt. and Space Mt.

LOL. Peace, love, and deer face, everybody! :hippie:

Hahaha those parents just don't get it. I don't want to leave EVER. :rotfl:

Hopefully the monorail isn't acting up for me this year! I love that thing.

I'm claustrophobic too! Those crowds scare me big time!! :scared1: And I always get scared that I'll lose my little sis in the crowds. So I have to hang on to her real tight or she just might get swallowed up in the madness.

Hahaha yeah we can just hold up signs: "Need Preschooler." I'm sure some frutrated parent would be willing to let us borrow one for a little while. :rotfl2:

I LOVE being in the front. I always try to grab the on everything, but sometimes I have to "share." :confused3 What. ever.

HAHAHAHA spread the deer face love! :hippie:

I feel so honored that my TR has been bestowed with the "Frump" title. I'm not worthy! :worship:

Don't worry. I'll probably be able to drag this thing out for a little while longer. And, come July, I'll have a brand new trip to share with you guys! I promise that it'll be 87575939237584 times more spectacular than this one.

Well, Kristen, I guess this means we're Disney Twins. We should probably order t-shirts with our faces on them or something. :rotfl:

HAHAHA we dub thee "Official Frump of the Disney Freaks of America." :wizard:

WELCOME TO THE FRUMPS!!! :rotfl2:

And yayy for dragging out your TR! :woohoo: It's too good to be over!! And oh my goodness you're going again this July??!?!?! WHEN?

Yes, Kara, we should get shirts. They can say "Frump 1 and Frump2" :lmao:

My younger cousins came with us one year and I was absolutely paranoid that I would lose them in the crowds, so I know how you feel. It's so scary. Heck, I'm 20, and half the time I wind up with a death grip on my parents in those crowds. Obviously, I have a cell phone, money, and I know how to navigate WDW, but I'm still, like, "Don't lose me!"

Exactly. I'm sure they'd be glad to pass them off to us for a while.

LOL. Sharing? Taking turns? What does that even mean? :rotfl:

Oh my gosh. I should have prepared a speech for this momentous occasion.

Um, I'd like to thank the academy. And my parents. And Walt Disney for creating something so incredible. And everyone who works at the Polynesian, especially the men who grill my meats at 'Ohana and the man who gave me free cookies in the Great Ceremonial House. But most of all, I'd like to thank everyone out there who has supported me and allowed my frumpish tendencies to fully develop. GO FRUMPS!

Yep. We'll be there from July 3rd to the 8th to celebrate my 21st birthday. I'm so excited! :dance3:

I know it's really scary!!!! :scared1: But we always try to establish a meeting place in every park in case my sis gets seperated from us, because she doesn't have a cell phone.

HAHAHA I have no clue...I think they tried to teach us those things in Kindergarten...it's become so burred in my memory...I can't seem to recall... :confused3 Oh who cares!

Wow. I am touched. What a moving speech. :worship: Those people should all consider themselves lucky to be included in such an awesome and incredibly worded display of emotion and truth. I am thoroughly impressed. :rotfl2:

Oh right. Hence your ticker. I swear I am so oblivious... :dance3: Oh well. :upsidedow

Kara did you change your avatar? It's so cute!

Awww that sucks your last day was on my birthday. I've been having a Disney withdrawal lately, so I was watching ride videos on YouTube earlier. :)

You got a lot of good pictures of and on Splash! I like this one a lot :cutie:

Thank you, thank you. I do have a way with words.

And LOL. Don't worry about it. :upsidedow

Yes, I did! It took me forever because I couldn't decide between a couple. Marie is just so adorable that it's hard to decide. But I really like this one. :cutie:

I love watching ride videos on YouTube too. Especially rides I'll always be too terrified to go on, like the Tower of Terror.

I like that picture a lot too. :thumbsup2

Great couple updates! :thumbsup2 I haven't been to 'Ohana is ages but I alleviate the heartache by making their bread pudding at home whenever I have a reasonable excuse (and on many occasions, whenever I don't have a reasonable excuse). It's super, super yummy! I got the recipe on Allears if you don't have it yourself. And... it's super easy too, bonus!

I too am always puzzled that MK doesn't have Frontierland open during AM EMH! :confused3 I love your "you may get wet" picture! :rotfl:

I can completely and totally sympathize with your last full day blues. You want so badly to pretend like it's not all crashing to an end so that you can enjoy the day at the best place on earth... but... it's always in the back of my mind and I end up getting really depressed towards the end of the day! We all gotta figure out a way we can just live in WDW: problem solved!

Oooooo I'll have to try and make the bread pudding sometime. I feel like I'll probably fail miserably and wind up while a pile of goop, but I'm getting better at this whole cooking thing, so we'll see.

I guess they just want to keep everyone in Fantasyland/Tomorrowland and not have to pay for an extra hour of work for the rest of the CMs, but it's still weird. Especially in the summer when there are a gajillion people there.

I know. I've been trying to figure out this whole "Live at WDW" thing for ages. So far, all I've got is pretend to be an extremely lifelike animatronic. But having to repeat the same movements over and over would get old after the first 5 minutes, so I've gotta think of something better...

JULY 27TH PART TWO: HONORARY PRINCESS OF THE DAY

My dear and loyal readers -

I've decided that I'm going to attempt to post a new installment of my glorious TR every Sunday from now until I finish this thing. Based on the amount of material I have left - and the fact that I'm quite good at rambling - I figure I'll be wrapping this up come late-May/early-June. Then, I'll (probably) start a quick PTR for my July trip, and before I know it, I'll be back in the World! :woohoo: Of course, considering the fact that I am a college student, these dates could change, updates could become irregular, and all that jazz, but I'm going to try REALLY hard to keep to a schedule. I've got a bad case of Spring Fever/Indian Fever(Go Tribe!)/"I'm Going to Disney World in Less Than 3 Months" Fever, so my Disney-lovin' is out in full-force.

Anyway, here's today's update! I apologize for its brevity, but I had to get all of the "not such a great story" stuff out of the way before I can get to the meat of our MK day. :upsidedow

After getting thoroughly soaked on Splash Mountain, we were in dire need of a quick breakfast detour. In all of the rushing around that morning to make it to Extra Magic Hours, I skipped breakfast, and after an hour in the park, I was STARVING. So we stopped at the stand in Liberty Square that sells fruit and stuff. I have no idea what it’s called, but it’s right across from the Liberty Belle dock, if that helps.
283.jpg

I got a delicious bowl of watermelon and a Sprite. Not exactly the greatest breakfast ever, but it worked. I didn’t have that “My stomach is so empty I think I’m going to vomit” feeling anymore, so it was a success.
737.jpg

282-1.jpg

I love these chairs, but I couldn’t stay and eat there because my nemeses, those big white birds, were all over. It was terrifying. I just wanted to sit and eat my watermelon in peace without having to worry about their ugly beaks, and their ugly legs with backwards knees, and their creepy eyes, and their gross feathers, and their disturbingly long necks. So I found a bench as far away from those guys as possible and made Dad stand in front of me to shield me from their icky bird-ness.

Stomachs full, we headed back to Fantasyland. Katie and Dad headed to Mickey’s PhilharMagic, and Mom and I headed to everyone’s favorite classic ride, It’s a Small World.

OK. It’s definitely not everyone’s favorite ride, but it’s one of mine, so I absolutely had to get in another trip on the happiest cruise that ever sailed.
739.jpg

See? It’s just so happy!

740.jpg

Hippos wink at you!

741.jpg

Giraffes have flower-shaped spots!

744.jpg

Dolls with sparkly eyes carry pineapples on their heads!

746.jpg

It rains shiny streamers!

748.jpg

Angry-looking platypuses throw eggs at you…What? Ok. Evidently this ride is a little creepier than I thought.

753.jpg

But who wouldn’t want this little vocal group to sing to them? The girl has pink hair tied in a giant knot on her forehead! She could totally be a pop star in the real world. In July, I’ll smuggle her out of the ride and into the recording studio.

754.jpg

755.jpg

It’s all just so wonderful! I love you, It’s a Small World…even if no one else does.

As we were walking out, Mom decided that I needed to make a wish. So I did. And she documented it. Ignore the mess on top of my head. My hair was pretty much shot after Splash Mountain, and I was too busy having fun to attempt to fix it.
759.jpg

760.jpg

I’d tell you what I wished for, but I’m pretty sure that means it won’t come true, so you’re just going to have to use your IMAAAAAAAAGINAAAAATION. /Figment

When we exited It’s a Small World, this was the line for Peter Pan.
761.jpg

Thank goodness we got those Fastpasses earlier.

Katie and Dad were still in PhilharMagic, so Mom and I found a bench and waited. I took a pic of this lovely Fantasyland trash can. I love how well-themed even the place where we dump all our disgusting trash is.
738.jpg

We struck up a conversation with one of the custodial CMs who gave me this –
764.jpg

An Honorary Princess of the Day sticker! Now, it didn’t come with quite as many perks as the time Michelle Tanner was named Princess of the Day – actually it didn’t come with any perks – but it made me feel special. Dad and Katie came over as we were talking to her, so Katie got a sticker too, which made me feel a little less special, but whatever. If I had to share my honorary crown with someone, I guess sharing it with her wasn’t that bad.

After practicing my princess wave – elbow, elbow, wrist, wrist, pearls – we got in line for Peter Pan.
762.jpg

Pirate ships!
765.jpg

This is going to make me sound like the lamest person ever, but I’m kinda, maybe, sorta, just a teensy bit scared of Peter Pan’s Flight. I don’t like flying. I don’t like being off the ground. I don’t care that it’s only a few feet, it still makes me uncomfortable. I sit there the whole time with a death grip on the lapbar, praying that our pirate ship doesn’t fall off the track. I can’t help it. I worry about everything.

Anyway, I survived our trip to Neverland and back (though there was a bit of a close one with a crocodile) and we headed back out for more Fantasyland fun!

UP NEXT: "I see you drank your tea this morning." :cutie:

Disney can even make trash cans look good

I just noticed you've been wearing a Silly Band. Which one is it? :)

Oh.My.Gosh!!! I finally found someone else on this earth that enjoys a good cruise on it's a small world!!! I love that ride and I'm not sure I completely understand why no one else seems to agree with me! :confused3

I love your "honorary princess" sticker, although it would be way cooler if it was also accompanied with the perks Michelle Tanner was awarded (poor Stephanie...) When viewing said sticker, I zoned in on your ring and realized that I have the same one!!!

When I was little I was terrified of Peter Pan's flight...because of the height/flying thing. It took until just a few years ago before I even tried it again.

Heyyyyy Kara!!! Great update!! This TR is so entertaining...I sit at my computer laughing like a fool and my mom is just like "What's so funny??" So then I tell her to come here. She reads and starts laughing like a fool too. :rotfl: It's a beautiful thing, really.

Okay, that watermelon looks YUM, but I agree, those birds are terrifying. And yeah what is up with their backwards knees??? I have always secretly wondered what the deal was with those. Are there heads backwards or is it more of a from the waist down kinda thing?? :confused3

I love It's a Small World, and I make a wish almost every time. That's cute that your mom documented it. :goodvibes That's so true about the platypuses though, why are they throwing eggs at us??? And why do they look so angry??Those imagineers must have been a little :dance3: when they thought up that portion of the ride. And that one girl's pink hair at the front of her head reminds me of this girl at my school. She puts her hair in a frump doo at like that exact same spot. Why she does this is beyond me. It is NOT cute. :lmao:

Yayy for you being Princess of the Day!!! princess: I remember that episode of Full House, it was my favorite. :) It combined my two favorite things, Disney and Full House. I seriously LOVE that show. Never gets old for me! And I'm sorry your sister stole a little bit of your thunder, but at least it wasn't some random girl. That would be irritating. :headache: But since it wasn't, you guys can be co-princesses! :cool1:

I LOVE Peter Pan's Flight. No idea why, but I always get the tingly Disney happy chills when the ride starts. :wizard: I get so happy to be there. So it is a must do every time I'm at the MK. :yay: But then again, I'm not really afraid of heights or flying or anything, in fact I'm kind of the opposite.

I really like your plan of attack for the rest of this TR! :thumbsup2 Can't wait for next Sunday!!popcorn::

Disney can even make trash cans look good

I just noticed you've been wearing a Silly Band. Which one is it? :)
I was actually wearing two - Jessie and Bullseye from the Toy Story set. I have small-ish wrists, so they fit kinda awkwardly, but I decided to wear them anyway. :rotfl:

HIGH-FIVE, fellow It's a Small World- lover. High-Five. :upsidedow

Nice. I love that ring. I wear it all the time at Disney and quite frequently in "regular" life too.
When I was little I was terrified of Peter Pan's flight...because of the height/flying thing. It took until just a few years ago before I even tried it again.
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who has that fear. I was terrified as a kid as well. I didn't actually start riding it again until I was like 15 and that was only because my little cousin fell in love with it and really wanted to ride with me, so I put on a brave face and rode it to make her happy. I'm such a good cousin. :cutie:

Hi, Kristen's Mom! :wave2:

I don't know. I don't understand those birds. They're just plain scary. I'm sure there's some biological reason for their backwards knees, but looking that up would probably involve pictures and I don't really want to subject myself to that kind of torture.

A frump doo practically on her forehead? What is she thinking? That can't be comfortable. Or maybe it actually is. We're all sitting here laughing, but watch, scientists will probably be like it's actually the best way to wear your hair because it's good for posture or something. LOL.

Full House is just the best. I've seen every single episode 397503090294 times, but it will never stop being entertaining to me. Never.

Angry-looking platypuses throw eggs at you…What? Ok. Evidently this ride is a little creepier than I thought.

Okay I TOTALLY just noticed this last time I was there and I just don't understand!! Like why? Platypus-es don't throw eggs! It's so strange. But slightly amusing.

You don't even know how much you made Kristen's day by quoting full house in your TR. We have a full house family... and she's michelle. I'm stephanie. (but that's beside the point. it's just in case you were wondering ) But yeah I was OBSESSED with full house in 6th grade. I recorded every single episode on VHS from Nick at Nite and I would make cute little covers for all of the VHS's. And then once I recorded the last episode they started coming out on DVD :lmao: But yeah I used to know every single name of every single episode and every single plot line. It was about as much of an obsession as I have with Disney!

So basically.... Full House is wonderful :lovestruc

After practicing my princess wave – elbow, elbow, wrist, wrist, pearls – we got in line for Peter Pan.

I also love that you quoted this. PLANNING DVD YES YESSSSSS!

HAHA she says hello! :wave2:

Oh my gosh yeah those pictures would probably be terrifying and half of them probably wouldn't even be of birds. :rotfl:

And I know I think she thinks it looks good...but it doesn't. Someone should really tell her. And maybe it is good for posture...? But then again it would sorta weigh you down in the front...so I'm not sure if that would really work out. :rotfl2: Maybe it's good for like summoning brain power...? :teacher:

Full House IS the best. I have seen every episode about that many times too. :thumbsup2 I just love it! Plus, John Stamos is one good looking creature.

I also love that you quoted this. PLANNING DVD YES YESSSSSS!

HAHAHA that's exactly what I thought of when I read that!!! :lmao: LOVE me the planning DVD. :wizard:

Your trip report is so fun to read! :) I love it! I can't wait to be back in the World...only 3 weeks! Woohooooooo. But really. You're HILARIOUS :)

Yeah, I just wanted to make sure I have this one finished before I go in July. Well, that and my memories of last summer are already starting to get a little fuzzy, and even though I took fairly detailed notes, I kinda feel like this TR has been slacking in the detail department lately. :confused3

Exactly. Birds are gross, but if I were a bird, I'd definitely want to live at WDW so I totally understand why they do.

Full House is definitely amazing. I heard the Boyz II Men song "Motownphilly" today and I couldn't help but remember Stephanie's dance recital.

The planning DVDs are amazing. I will forever love the one with Dave the bench guy. He is my idol. :worship:

"half of them probably wouldn't even be of birds" OMG. True story. :rotfl:

I think I'll have to test that theory out. I have a big test next Monday, so I'll just throw my hair up in a front bun and see what happens....
