"It's Coming and it's BLUE" - A July 2010 TR - COMPLETED!!

JULY 27TH PART 3: A SPOT OF HILARI-TEA!!
Our next stop on this GORGEOUS morning was another classic Magic Kingdom attraction, the Mad Tea Party!
783.jpg

Sure, it’s a bit lame, but spinning myself silly in a giant tea cup will never get old. Plus, the sound the ride makes when it comes to a screeching halt is one of my favorite Disney sounds. I know, I know. Your mind is probably blown right now because you didn’t think I could get any weirder, and then I went and said something like "the sound of a ride screeching to a halt makes me nostalgic." Sometimes I can’t believe myself either. LOL.

773.jpg

If you’ve read my PTR, you’ll know that, after a TRAUMATIC experience a few years back, I refuse to ride the tea cups with my sister anymore. She spins the darn thing faster than any normal human being should be able to endure. It's crazy. As we’re standing in line, determined to find the cup that spins the most, she will literally stare at the ride for several cycles attempting to pinpoint the fastest one. It’s insane. And here is a photo of her doing just that.
774.jpg

Because being so dizzy that I can’t stand up is not on high on my list of fun things, I made Dad ride with her while I rode in the “We’re Just Gonna Let the Ride Do Most of the Work” cup with Mom and took pictures.

Before:

During:
778.jpg

I like Katie's hair action in this one.

779.jpg

I can just hear them bickering about the proper spinning technique in my head. LOL.

781.jpg

All smiles.

After:
782.jpg

Well, Dad made it out of there in one piece. I guess that's where Katie gets her super-human spinning genes from.

As we exited, I noticed that Alice and the White Rabbit were meeting and greeting, so Mom and I ran over and got in line. Dad and Katie headed over to get Fastpasses for Space Mountain. They may have also gone on the Tomorrowland Speedway…I can’t really remember and they didn’t take any pictures which is normally how I keep track of what they did, so we're just going to assume that's what they did. Because it makes sense logistically. I think.

Anyway, I was really excited to finally meet Alice. Alice's Adventures in Wonderland was one of the first REAL books I ever read and it’s had a special place in my heart ever since.

The line for Alice was a bit long, but PUSH the talking trash can came over to entertain us. He was really funny. His interactions with little kids were priceless.
784.jpg

Oh, funny story…The family in front of us in line (who you can see in that picture) were wearing matching bright yellow (or I guess I should say “maize”) University of Michigan t-shirts. As you all know, I am a Buckeye. I bleed Scarlett and Grey. Just typing out the name of “that school up north” took a lot out of me. So, when we noticed their shirts, Mom suggested loudly doing the “OH-” “-IO” cheer. On any other day, I would have been like, “Heck yes! Let’s do it!” But because we were at the Magic Kingdom and I was having a fabulous morning, I decided to just ignore their Michigan-ness. Apparently, Disney is the only place in the world where Buckeyes and Wolverines can co-exist in harmony. LOL.

When it was finally time for me to go up, I excitedly said “Hello!” and may have thrown something in about how Alice was my favorite. She asked how I was doing today and I responded “I’m wonderful! Thank you so much for asking!” To which she said, “Why I see you drank your tea this morning!” in all her British-accented glory. Then she turned to the White Rabbit and excitedly said, “Mr. Rabbit, did you hear? She drank her tea this morning!”

It probably sounds really lame now, but at the time, I was internally flailing. I mean, I was having a conversation with Alice and the White Rabbit! The little girl inside of me who read her book over and over again was freaking out. It was just so cool!

Anyway, here’s my picture…
785.jpg

Again, I have my hand in a fist. I don’t know why I always seem to do that in character pics. LOL.

We met up with Dad and Katie who were waiting on a bench outside of Cosmic Ray’s and headed into Tomorrowland.
786.jpg

I love this transition area where you go from shady Fantasyland into shiny silver Tomorrowland.

We headed over to another one of my favorite Magic Kingdom attractions, the Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor!
792.jpg

Monsters Inc. is one of my favorite movies. It is perfection. I adore Mike and Sully and Roz and the adorable little Boo. “I Didn’t Have You” makes me smile. I frequently burst out into rousing renditions of “Put that thing back where it came from.” So, basically, my Monsters Inc. love combined with the fact that I will laugh at the stupidest of things means that the Laugh Floor is right up my alley.

Anyway, here’s a picture of the castle from the queue…
793.jpg

This picture is blurry, but I love the “The future of energy is a joke” tagline. If only we could figure out a way to convert laughter to energy. Come on, scientists! Get on that!
794.jpg

Here are a few pictures from the queue. We didn’t have to wait too long…Maybe like 15 or 20 minutes...I can’t remember exactly.

I don’t want to spoil the show too much, but for those of you who don’t know, they select people from the audience to put up on screen to “play” certain parts. The people they picked during our show were absolutely hilarious. They were totally game to play along. “Sulley” had a big beard and made the funniest facial expressions. “Mike,” when reminded that he only had one eye, cocked his sunglasses so that only one eye was showing. It was classic.

Oh, Laugh Floor, I just love you.

UP NEXT: Yew Nork, Space Flights, and A Whole New World

2 things:
1) I know exactly what sound you mean, and when you mentioned it, it played in my head.
2) I'm a diehard Philadelphia Eagles fan, I have been known to embarrass my family by calling out taunts to rivals. We were there on Super Bowl Sunday when the Eagles were actually *in* the Super Bowl...that was a blast, so many people were out in their gear and when we saw Pats fans, it was nothing but harassing each other. ...oh good times.

In my head I heard the ending sound of Mad Tea Cups as soon as I read what you wrote.

The description of Katie on the ride had me laughing :lmao: That picture of her surveying all the tea cups is too funny!

You met the same Alice I did 2 years ago :thumbsup2

The planning DVDs are amazing. I will forever love the one with Dave the bench guy. He is my idol. :worship:

I have to go read the new update but first I HAD to comment on this: that is my favorite planning DVD!!!!!! And Jess' too!!!! :cool1: Dave is THE BEST. He's just a really chill guy. Those birds could learn a lot from him. :rotfl2:

"half of them probably wouldn't even be of birds" OMG. True story. :rotfl:

I think I'll have to test that theory out. I have a big test next Monday, so I'll just throw my hair up in a front bun and see what happens....

He is definitely one good looking creature. :lmao:

Let us know how your test goes with the front bun!!! :lmao:

I just read it. :cool1:

I am SO happy you share my love of Alice and the Mad Tea Party. :thumbsup2 It's one of my favorite rides and no one understands why. It was my very first ride at Disney World, and I always had so much fun letting my brother spin the teacup as fast as he could and I would just relax and enjoy. One time, Alice and the Mad Hatter were in the teacup right next to mine and they waved and made funny faces when I took a picture of them. :p I am also SO SO SO glad that you love the noise of the end at the ride too. I want it on my iPod. I love it so much. :) It just reminds me of being in Magic Kingdom and being a kid and having a great time. :goodvibes

That's so funny about the  Michigan  fans. Hang on I need to go boil my fingers for typing that obscene word...okay...I'm back. :rotfl: I am glad that they can coexist in peace in the MK though, that is no place for a riot to break out. :lmao: However, my brother and I would have definitely done the "OH- IO" thing right in front of them, just to see their reaction.

Aww, your pic with Alice and the White Rabbit is too cute! :cutie:

I love the transition into all the different lands. It's so well done and detailed.

The Laugh Floor is HYSTERICAL. So many people think it's so cheesy, but I just laugh my head off like such a frump when I'm there. :happytv:

Can't wait for the next update!! They are like the highlight of my week!! :woohoo:

You don't even know how much respect I gained for you just now. That is my favorite planning DVD EVERRRRR!!!!!!!:banana::banana:

I literally used to watch it every single night until my trip when I was like 12 or 13... or 14 or 15...? I don't remember. One of those ages. They just all seem to blend together now. I'm thinking it was on the older side. Maybe.

But yeah, that planning DVD is a work of art. I love how all of the hosts are so different but they all have a fantastic time! Yay Disney! Plus 2005 was like the highlight of my Disney life. LOVED happiest celebration on earth/year of a million dreams era. :wizard:

Anyways... wonderful update as usual! :) I loved the tea cup part. So funny. I kind of want to go on that ride with your sister because I love spinning super super fast. What a thrill! :upsidedow

You're TR is tooo funny! I love it! I will NOT ride the tea cups because of fast spinners either!! I don't know how people's tummy's handle it! haha

I subbed! Can't wait to read more! popcorn::

Oh, if we were there during football season/on gameday things would have gone A LOT differently. I totally would've said something. Mom and I would have been OH-IO-ing our hearts out. Being there on Super Bowl Sunday when your team was actually in the Super Bowl had to be so much fun. Actually, just having your team in the Super Bowl has to be a lot of fun. I'm a Browns fan so I wouldn't know...:rotfl:

I'm so glad that I'm not the only crazy one and that you guys know what sound I'm talking about. Anywhere else, that sound would be incredibly annoying, but, at Disney, it's one of my favorites.

Katie is some sort of strange, in-human, thrill-seeking being. It's crazy. And incredibly entertaining. LOL.

She was an excellent Alice. Two thumbs up from me!
I just read it. :cool1:

Aw, I feel the same way about the Mad Tea Party. I have so many amazingly hilarious memories from that ride, and riding it always takes me back to simpler times. I'm so jealous that you were on the ride at the same time as Alice and the Mad Hatter. That's insanely cool.

The mental image of you standing over a pot of boiling water, holding a big wooden spoon and stirring with your mouth because your fingers are being boiled is too much. LOL.

The Laugh Floor is absolutely hysterical and I don't understand why everyone doesn't feel that way. Like, I was in tears because I was laughing so hard. I'm thinking about doing the college program in 2 years and I think it would be amazing to work at the Laugh Floor just so I can watch the show all day and laugh my head off. Of course, there are like 5767843092339443 other jobs I'd also enjoy at WDW so I don't know, but it would probably be a lot of fun.

To this day, I still quote lines from that DVD. I can't ride the Jungle Cruise without thinking about how Dave didn't want it to be called a boat, but rather a "floating bench." And Luke, the thrill seeker, had some great lines too. "Gravity? We don't need no stinkin' gravity!"

And, oh my gosh, he said something about how the Tower of Terror has "definitely got some hurl factor to it" and my mom and I said that before we rode just about anything. We'd be like ":et's go on Dumbo! That's definitely got some hurl factor to it." "Oh, the TTA? That's definitely got some hurl factor to it." We are so weird.

If you love spinning super super fast, you should definitely ride with my sister. She's a spinning monster.

WELCOME! :goodvibes

I used to LOVE fast spinning, but that's definitely gone changed with age.

Great update Kara! :thumbsup2 I too love Monsters Inc. and was so excited when I went to Disneyland last summer and got to ride the ride there. The teacups though? Sooo not my thing! I get motion sickness really easily. A couple trips ago, I was walking by the teacups and said (completely without intention), "ya know, I just can't bring myself to ride those things... it's just so not my cup of tea!" Instantly I was rolling on the ground! :rotfl:

Such a cute Alice encounter! We had a really great Alice encounter a few years ago too. I think she's the best for stuff like that! :thumbsup2

I'm so jealous of Disneyland for having a Monsters Inc. ride. I'll definitely have to take a trip out to California at some point to ride it.

:rotfl: Oh, I love a good pun.

Definitely. :) I really want to meet the Mad Hatter now too because I hear he's hilarious.

I love how I know EXACTLY what you're talking about... and I can hear it in my head exactlyy how they say it. I wish they'd make more DVD's like that. I feel like when the hosts are frumpier, the DVD is just that much more enjoyable. :rotfl:

I know it's just that classic childhood ride. :goodvibes Being on the ride with them was awesome! I spazzed out, but everyone else seemed to think that was normal. :confused3 Oh well.

HAHAHAHAHA. :rotfl2: OUCH. My poor fingers. That would be painful. But as an Ohio State fan, I must be loyal and burn scarlet and gray. :worship:

I LOVE the Laugh Floor. I always feel the same way. I'm always in hysterics and everyone else is just like "Oh haha that's funny." I am definitely gonna do the CP too though! :cool1: I always thought it would be so cool to work at the Haunted Mansion, but my dream is to be Snow White or Belle. :lovestruc Or Ariel but I don't think I really look like her. But if they really don't want me to be a princess after I pour my heart and soul into that terrifying audition, I would probably want to be a character attendant or an attractions CM. It would be really cool to work at the Festival of the Lion King too. I am in LOVE with that show. I never get sick of it.

That is SO true. The frumpier the host, the more enjoyable it is. Like Stacy, from the Resort TV, she's a total frump. And she's also incredibly entertaining. Forget about blondes, I'm pretty sure this is proof that frumps have more fun.

Everyone else thought it was normal? I would have been freaking out. I mean, IT WAS ALICE. AND THE MAD HATTER. ON THE RIDE. Those are grounds for freaking out.

Aw, I think you'd make an excellent princess. princess: I think my DREAM role would be Jungle Cruise Skipper. It would be so much fun to tell lame jokes all day and poke fun at people. The back side of water genuinely excites me, so I think I'd be a great fit. Plus, they get to wear awesome hats and I love hats.

They did! But then Alice and the Mad Hatter were very entertained by my freaking out, so I really didn't care anymore.

Aww thank you! I can actually talk just like Snow White, it's really funny. If you saw Jess' PTR for January, I was Snow for Halloween, and I think I look pretty legit...for being illegitimate. :rotfl: Here's the link: Halloween!

Being a Jungle Cruise Skipper would be SO MUCH FUN!!! I LOVE those corny jokes. I think they're hilarious! :rotfl2: I would love to crack them all day long at people who don't even think it's funny. :lmao: Ohhh well. The back side of the water is so cool, I love waterfalls. And those hats are pretty awesome! :thumbsup2 Jungle Cruise is definitely one of my favorite rides.

You make a wonderful Snow! :thumbsup2 And if you've already got the voice down, they should totally hire you. Less time/money on training and all that. But seriously, I think you would do a wonderful job and Disney would be stupid not to hire someone who wants/loves it as much as you do.

Oh my gosh, the best part would be delivering the jokes and waiting for the crickets and/or groans that tend to follow. I mean, I'm usually laughing my head off, but I guess those Amazon butterflies whose wingspan ranges from 12 inches to 1 foot just aren't funny to everyone. :confused3 :rotfl:

Aww thank you!!! I really REALLY wanna be her! I would have SO much fun! I just love when the little kids' faces all light up when they see a character or a princess that they love. And when the little girls are dressed up like the princess that they're meeting, LOVE that. I would have so much fun with that. :goodvibes I also decided that if I couldn't be Snow White or any other princess, I would want to be Wendy. She's super cute, and I would have so much fun hanging out with Peter Pan all day. :lovestruc

HAHAHA it's probably because it takes them FOREVER to even figure out that 12 inches and 1 foot are the same thing. :lmao: I love the one about the elephants' trunks. :rotfl2: Such a corny and juvenile joke, but it gets me every time! :rotfl:

JULY 27TH PART FOUR: YEW NORK, OUTER SPACE, AND A WHOLE NEW WORLD
Hey guys! Sorry I didn't get this posted yesterday. With Easter and midterms, I was quite busy. But I'm here now, so let's do this...

After laughing our pants off at the Laugh Floor, our stomachs decided it was time for lunch. Literally. Mine was making a weird gurgling sound. It was not pretty. I’m was kinda shocked that no one came up and asked me to remove my “Honorary Princess of the Day” sticker because these stomach noises were decidedly un-princess-like.

So, we headed over to Cosmic Ray’s to fill our stomachs and pay a visit to our old friend, Sonny Eclipse. Only I honestly don’t remember if he was even working while we were in there. It was crazy packed and we wound up sitting at one of the tables to the left of where you get your food, and I don’t really remember hearing any of his songs. I mean, I guess he could have been “performing” and I just didn’t notice because it was super loud in there.

Music or not, I still had to sing a few lines from my favorite Sonny Eclipse song, “Yew Nork.” “Squadison Mare Garden” and “The Liber of Statuty” will never stop being funny to me.

I may be green and dorky, but proud to be a Zorky in my hometown Yew Nooooooooork.

Anyway, I wound up ordering a Chicken and Mashed Potato Bowl which isn’t on the everyday menu, but they happened to be serving it and I happened to be craving mashed potatoes, so I couldn’t help myself.
803.jpg

I thought it was pretty good. Of course, my judgment is probably clouded by the fact that I was starving and it was food, but if it was absolutely disgusting, I would have noticed.

Katie ordered her usual – chicken tenders.
804.jpg

Mom and Dad ordered burgers (I think) but in my attempt to inhale that entire Mashed Potato Bowl, I forgot to take pictures. Sorry.

After stuffing ourselves, it was time to use our Fastpasses and ride Space Mountain!
805.jpg

806.jpg

807.jpg

Space Mountain is probably my favorite ride in all of WDW. I love it. A lot. As a kid, I wanted absolutely nothing to do with it. As you all know, I’m scared of everything, so that should come as no surprise. But thanks to some good old-fashioned peer pressure, I wound up riding it during my high school orchestra trip like five years ago and had an absolute blast. It’s definitely not as dark/scary as some people make it seem. In fact, it’s actually kind of hilarious. The sudden little drops make me laugh. Plus, there’s just something so cool about the ride vehicles. I probably sound really weird for saying that, but I think they’re really cool. I can’t pinpoint exactly why, but they make me happy.

This was my first time on the ride since they installed the on-ride cameras and Katie insisted that we pose for the picture. She had experienced them during her choir trip in March and said they were very easy to pose for. I told her to tell me when/where to look, but of course, she did that a little late and this is how our picture turned out…
811.jpg

Don’t worry. They get better later. ;)

OH! Also, in case my future spouse just happens to be reading this, I’m expecting to be proposed to on this ride, right in front of the camera. I don’t need the whole “getting down on one knee” thing. Just shove the box in my face and ask me to marry you right as we pass the camera. You can tell me how fabulous I am after we get off. :teeth:

After getting off, we grabbed another round of Fastpasses to use later that evening, and then headed over to Adventureland because I was determined to meet Aladdin and Jasmine.

But first, here’s a picture of the castle from the bridge to Tomorrowland.
815.jpg

Here’s the Agrabah Bazaar. There's a party here in Agrabah, there's excitement in the air... Aladdin and Jasmine’s meet and greet area is right next door, but we were a little early, so we decided to take a look around.
821.jpg

822.jpg

824.jpg

It’s a music box that plays “A Whole New World.” So sweet.

825.jpg

I thought these beaded jellyfish were really cool. I only wish I had a place to hang them.

After browsing for a bit, we noticed that people were starting to line up for the meet and greet, so we jumped in line. It wasn’t long before Aladdin and Jasmine came out.

This whole meet and greet was pretty much a blur. Not because we were rushed or anything, it’s just that the second Aladdin showed up, I basically dissolved into a puddle of goo. He’s just so swoon worthy! Definitely the best looking animated character. Oh, don’t judge me, I know you’ve all sat around and ranked the animated males (or females) by attractiveness. My friends and I have gotten into some serious debates over this. A lot of people put Prince Eric from The Little Mermaid at the top of their list, but I’m an Aladdin girl through and through. Well, Aladdin and Hercules who you can’t meet in the parks, which I’m totally upset about. Hercules is a flawless movie. All of the characters are awesome. I mean, Herc, Meg, Phil, Pegasus, all of the gods…all awesome. Hades is my favorite Disney villain because he’s menacing but also absolutely hilarious. His “Is my hair out?” line is sheer brilliance. Plus, the music is AMAZING. I frequently dance around my house singing “A Star is Born,” “I Won’t Say (I’m in Love),” and “Zero to Hero.” Who put the glad in gladiator? Hercules! And “Go the Distance” makes me cry whenever I hear it. So yeah, this movie definitely deserves a presence in the parks. I should probably start a letter-writing campaign or something…Who’s in?

Anyway, back to Aladdin…He’s hot. I swooned. He tried to converse with me, but I’m pretty sure I just giggled. Katie had a chat with Jasmine. We took this picture.

Siiiiiiiiiiiiigh. :lovestruc

Because it was getting really hot out, we decided to head back to the Polynesian to relax for a bit. But first, here are some pictures I took of Main Street USA. There are people everywhere, but that’s to be expected at 1:30 in the afternoon in July.

Main Street is just so perfect. :cloud9:

UP NEXT: Me, My Hammock, and I

The sky was just gorgeous that day!! :cloud9:

I personally don't like that Space takes your pic now. It's in the most random place! They should put it as you're going down a drop or something?? :confused3

I really love Agrabah. I actually wish there was more to it besides a few shops. I know the Magic Carpets and the Aladdin meet and greet are both there, but to me, it just seems like it needs something else.

:teeth:

Ahhh now we know so we can add it to the story :rotfl: That's a very nice plan. How cute :lovestruc Disney proposals can be done in so many wonderful ways!

Anyway, back to Aladdin…He’s hot. I swooned. He tried to converse with me, but I’m pretty sure I just giggled. Katie had a chat with Jasmine. We took this picture.

You don't know how much I just LOVED that. I FEEL THE SAME WAY!!!!! I am obsessed with aladdin. One of my points of criteria on my perfect boy list is that he has to look like aladdin :lovestruc hahaha. Kristen and I have split up Aladdin and Prince Eric, because although we both know Aladdin is the best, she figures she can easily avoid a lot of arguments with me if she takes Prince Eric for herself (I mean... he's not bad looking either! I just have my heart set on Aladdin.)

So yes... I understand your love. I love meeting Aladdin. Every time I meet him I want to be Jasmine more and more. I hope one day.... :cloud9:
