It's A Prank...A 21st Birthday Celebration Updated 4/2

Sorry Pa was still not feeling good! It's miserable to be sick in disney. :(

Those new cabins look GORGEOUS! Maybe one day...

Dinner looks great! I've still never been but I honestly only want the bread pudding.

Nothing better than a cute baby to pass around to make for a fun night! He's precious!

Looks like you had a fun last night!

I know they sell the bread pudding at the tambu lounge right outside if you don't want to pay for the full meal.
Those cabins are on my list of things I need to do, they look beautiful!

A Morning At Disney Springs

It was our last day in Disney, but luckily we had the whole day ahead of us until the tragical express came to get us at 5 tonight. Around 8:30 we all headed down to the last club level breakfast of the trip. Today was a hopping day in the inn keeper lounge, so many people trying to get breakfast, so many kids wanting to watch beauty and the beast.

Today I randomly looked up at the ceiling and noticed a hidden mickey and minnie up in the light.

33327320825_e6af3dbc21.jpg

We headed back to the room, packed up and enjoyed the view one last time

As we were walking out of our room for the last time we realized we never took photos of the room. So here are some awful photos of a lived in deluxe room at the boardwalk.

Today we were planning to go to Disney Springs so we decided to just leave the room, check out luggage and threw our carry ons in Alicia’s car. Then it was off to my home.

My main reason to come here was to get a cake pop from Goofys and honestly that was all. I had no intention of buying anything else.
When we first walked into Town Center I looked to my right and saw a huge new planter in the middle of the walkway….new.

Once arriving we headed straight for the market place and right over to Goofy’s Candy Company. On our way over there we passed by a large group of CMs who were wearing ear pieces and I just knew that they were getting the “Welcome to our Town” tour and I got really sad because that was me once. I picked up a cake pop and mickey rice crispy treat for some pals at work, Alicia got herself a big bag of jelly beans and everyone else just browsed.

All the walking we did these past 4 days have really done a number on my calves…they were poppin!

32513107563_e4f1219c6b.jpg

On our way over to World of Disney KC started the game of “What zone I’m in” this was all him and not me. But I was more than welcome to tell him if he was correct, although with the new town center who knows what zones are what anymore. This led us up to Basin (the end of zone 3)

32513108073_2767149a86.jpg

Basin is my favorite, I go each time just for the hand scrub. Call me crazy but every new person I bring to try the hand scrub has definitely enjoyed it. This was another one of those time. Garrett has never experienced basin and although he was a little hesitant at first the outcome made him a fan. It’s magic.
We hopped over to WOD afterwards and everyone picked up the last few items that they needed. Did I need another Disney shirt? Ma would tell you know but when Alicia goes “I get 40% off” how can you say no?!
Today for lunch we were going to try out Blaze Pizza, Alicia loves it and when signing up for the app we got buy one get one pizzas and a free soft drink. However like always on our way there we were pulled into another store. Hey Uniqlo! Let me just say that they have disney shirts that I need in my life once I have accomplished my list of going to every Disney park.

33286546806_a5a7abb583.jpg

Hopefully in the near future (Anyone want to go for the 25th Anniversary!?)

32513111693_69c6d737af.jpg

32484775444_a765e03d7c.jpg

Then it was time for some pizza! Blaze is basically a subway for pizza. You go down the line and add whatever it is you want on your pizza.

I’ve heard mixed reviews about this place, some rave about it, others think its overrated. So original I thought it was going to be that overrated pizza place. But it’s actually really good. If you like thin crust pizza that you customize yourself this is the place for you. It’s quick, cheap, you could certainly share if you’re not a fatty like myself (although I did end up taking half my pizza back to the resort afterwards.)
After lunch we decided to head back to the boardwalk and lay by the pool for the rest of the afternoon.

Sad your trip is almost over! Hope you have another in the works soon!

I have a Blaze pizza about 20 minutes from my work. I've gone a few times and always explain it the same way when telling people "subway for pizza!" I really like it...and the prices are actually cheaper than the one in Disney Springs. Not that that's too surprising lol. Probably won't go to the one in Disney Springs...I have a strict rule of not eating anywhere on vacation that I can eat at home!

I wish I had a blaze pizza near me. But I totally understand the whole eating something I can't get at home.

See Ya Real Soon!

When we arrived back to the boardwalk we grabbed all our stuff out of Alicia’s car and headed right down to the boardwalk

32584217384_d56855a263.jpg

And straight for the pool. We had a few hours to catch some rays before we had to get ready to leave for the airport. The best part about Disney in January is that its on the cooler side so catching rays at 70 degrees is a beautiful thing when you're not melting to death. However we didn’t actually go in the pool and I didn’t go down the clown slide so I’m so sad, but just another reason to go back.

33298415461_412e07bc43.jpg

If you thought we were done with drinking…jokes on you. KC and Garrett suggested one last drink at the pool and who could say no to a banana cabana?

33298421221_eebe599df5.jpg

32584208474_7939f07b49.jpg

Around 3:30 we decided to leave the pool area and hang out on the boardwalk. Alicia and I wanted to go to a floridan favorite, twistee treats for some ice cream, but driving off property to get it just wasn’t going to work out in our time we had left. So instead, although more expensive, we headed to the “new” Ample Hill Creamery. I wanted to try this place when I was here in October but never made it so I couldn't pass up this opportunity.
When you first walk in the walls are painted super cute with Disney landmarks

33298418551_07782082c3.jpg

Then there is an assortment of not your ordinary ice cream flavors, which is the biggest struggle when trying to pick one.

I ended up going with the baked/half baked and it was delicious

Our time was slowly winding down before we had to leave. So we used the rest of our time walking around and taking in the boardwalk

33298422241_267ac6e5da.jpg

Add Trattoria to the list of places I need to eat at because the new character breakfast is everything…but honestly FLYNN RYDER !

And with one last group photo is was time for us to go catch our tragical express

33386375886_e9cda0d4ac.jpg

And while I sat there being bummed out on life Pa came over and goes “If your sister never left for Japan 2 years ago I 100% believe that you would have stayed after your program and still be living down here right now” Although this is probably a very true statement, it’s not how it turned out but who knows maybe I’ll find myself back there. But for now I’ll just plan my next trips before my trip ends. So like any good person I go “Disney in August?!” to KC and Garrett. KC agreed but said no to Garrett because he asks to many questions. So watch out Disney we will be back for you!
The tragical express came at 5 and it was off to Caribbean to pick up the last people. While there the lady in front of us was not a fan that they were planning on adding DVC to this resort. The bus driver chimed in and said how it was the company trying to cater to all. As the video rolled the bus driver was also talking about Aulani and how nice it was there, still a place on my list. And then he started talking about how he went to Tokyo Disney and how amazing Disney Sea is and my mother just looks at me. Disney Sea is the BEST disney park I have ever been too and I miss it everyday.
We made it too the airport and before we headed to our gate I headed straight to my one true love….chickfila! Reunited and it feels so good!

32584217704_e0f1097cb1.jpg

And like how every other trip ends, we got to the gate, waited and waited, got on the plane and flew home.

Overall Operation 21st birthday celebration was a total success. I fell in love with the boardwalk, enjoyed the Festival of the arts, survived a tornado warning crazy storm, and spent more money on drinks than I should have.
This is where this trip ends but back on my October TR someone asked me to do a side report on my trip to NYC and Hamilton, so I will be adding that to this one. So here's to Sam's 2017: Year of Travel!

Fun to catch up with you and your family. I read the yolo reports, enjoyed them then and seeing what you guys are up to now. Have fun this year on your many travels!

It's so sad when the trip comes to an end. It seems like you had a really good time. August will be here before you know it. Thanks again for sharing with all of us.

Thanks for following along for so long! I am so excited 2017 is going to be a great year!

Always so sad! I feel like the months are flying by and I can't wait to get back down to Florida.

The Greatest City In The World

Coming into 2017 I had this feeling that it was going to be a great year. While I started off my 2017 in Disney, I knew I also needed new adventures and experience new things. And all I can say is that I’m super excited for this year and all the adventures that are waiting for me!

A week after coming home from Disney I was once again back at the airport and on my way to NYC. NYC isn’t “new” for me, I’ve been there twice in my life but this was the trip that would make or break it. This was a short weekend trip, literally 2 days and the main reason was to see HAMILTON! My obsession for the past year…but I’ll rave about that when the time comes.
This NYC adventure was shared with my best friend Marisa, basically my adventure travel buddy.
She left Thursday night however and stayed with her friend in Brooklyn, so Friday morning I had to navigate my way to Brooklyn from JFK airport. I was basically freaking out because I had to take the airtran to Jamaica station, hop on a train and then switch the the subway. Luckily this morning the Dear Evan Hansen soundtrack (Which we were also seeing tomorrow so I needed to know the music before I went to see it) came out so that got me through my travel morning. It was A LOT easier than it sounded and after walking forever from the subway I ended up meeting up with her.
Marisa has been to the city many of times so she made the itinerary of things to do and I’m shocked we got everything done that she wanted to get done that day. I met up with her at her friends apartment and then it was off we went. First stop pizza! We went to a cute little pizzeria near the Brooklyn bridge, they were kind enough to store our luggage as we at. We shared a pepperoni pizza and it was amazing!

32603273214_d4d8c6cd3b.jpg

32603268084_1ca4a1e9f1.jpg

Since we were there we of course had to walk across the brooklyn bridge. It was super cool but SUPER chilly!

Then it was get to the hotel to get rid of our bags, on the subway ride there I made Marisa listen to Dear Evan Hansen, but mostly Sincerely Me and If I Could Tell Her because they were probably the most played songs on my phone that day.
We stayed at a DoubleTree closer to Time Square, it was in a nice walking distance to time square/ theaters. Plus a warm chocolate chip cookie when you check in? Yes please! If only I knew what I was getting myself into, there was this awful noise coming from what we thought was next store. It sounded like they were drilling the toilet, but apparently it wasn’t the hotel at all. Welcome to the city.
We didn’t rest for too long before we headed out for the rest of the night. First stop of the night The High Line, a park built into old elevated rail line. I enjoyed the walk around this area.

33290549962_6f029533e3.jpg

At the end of the park there was a Biergarten, which of course was on Marisa’s list. A quick place to share a big pretzel and beer. I was still full from Pizza and wine earlier that I literally made Marisa take one for the team and finish our food here. Plus the pretzel was way to salty for my liking and I was in need of some cheese dipping sauce that I didn't have.

33063043010_fa97f93379.jpg

33290548902_69a5b0680a.jpg

After the biergarten we walked to Chelsea Market, a food hall, shopping mall, office building and television production facility located in the Chelsea neighborhood of the borough of Manhattan.
Apparently I was suppose to know what this place was and when I didn’t Marisa goes hold on there is a thing here that I know you will know

33290555182_cee6e3eafb.jpg

A room of lights…didn’t ring a bell. But apparently it is a very popular for instagram photos.

32632058933_bc673de46f.jpg

We browsed a few shops and basically enjoyed the heat

32632059993_78c011048e.jpg

After the Chelsea Market we decided to start looking for a place for dinner. I wanted to try Black Tap because I just wanted one of those over the top extreme milkshakes. So we headed there to see the wait, it was only a 40 minute wait on a friday, which personally I didn’t think was bad but Marisa knew a place near by that she said was really good. So we walked a few blocks to her spotted pig place just to find out they had a 2 hour wait. That idea was out, we wondered around and passed by so many little restaurants when we decided to just go into one. We both ended up just getting small salads because I was still full and Marisa had a place to go for dessert later on in the night. Basically this trip was eat and drink as much as we could.
After dinner we headed to a bar that was by far the best bar I will probably ever go too.
Marie’s Crisis Cafe, its this little bar in the basement of a building where there is one piano that everyone stand around and they all sing show tunes, like how perfect can one place be?

33063052420_a0c3c6841e.jpg

We were having so much fun but decided to head out to the dessert place before it closed. Our plan was to go to Milk and Cookies and come back to Marie’s because it was open till the wee hours of the morning.

33290556242_9119133797.jpg

Milk and Cookies is this small little ice cream sandwich shop. You pick your 2 cookies, ice cream flavor and what you want your ice cream rolled in. I went with M&M cookies, cake batter ice cream rolled in more M&Ms is was wonderful! Marisa went with peanut butter cookies, chocolate ice cream rolled in chocolate shavings.

33290556552_2b8783d4c5.jpg

After stuffing our faces we headed back out into the cold and back to Marie’s just to see a line forming outside to get in. Not a fan, it was a fun place but I wasn’t waiting in the cold to get back in. So instead we hopped back on the subway and back to our hotel where we decided to call it a night because tomorrow was going to be a long but exiting day!

Wow you really did accomplish a lot on day one. Lots of walking around, eating and drinking. What a great way to experience the city.

OK, that pretzel was huge! I wish the Mickey shaped ones were that big.

It was a fun filled packed day!

The Red Stairs Ate My Phone

Our last full day in the city was going to be taken up by 2 broadway shows as well as more city exploring. Meaning there was no time to sleep in. We were up and ready to go fairly early. First stop of the day was getting some breakfast. Apparently I only know tourist things so the cool rainbow bagels were out of question, Marisa new another bagel place near by and super cheap. Although her coffee wasn’t cutting it for her so we made a stop at starbucks across the street, which was fine with me because give me a super hot chai tea latte to hold into on this brisk morning.
After breakfast we headed to the first stop of the day, Grand central station. It was perfect because it was so early that it was basically dead.

Then from Grand Central we walked to Bryant Park. They had an ice skating rink with people already out and about this morning. So we walked through the park and then it was off to time square.

Marisa made sure to get here early to avoid the thousands of people who will be packed liked sardines later on in the day. As we got closer to the famous red stairs, Marisa brought up the purple wall at Disney. These stairs are basically the purple wall of NYC. I try to stare clear of the fads but we did the red stairs anyways.

Everything we going great, get some good pictures of time square a few selfies and then I hear a thump…my phone (I was using my go pro to take pictures) had managed to fall out of my pocket and into the red stairs. RIP phone, I had no clue what to do, Marisa ran to find help but found no one. She found a security guard near the stairs and the lady told her “You’re going to have to go back to your friend and tell her she lost it for good” At this point Marisa told me she was about to cry for me. But apparently the lady just needed a laugh that day and went to get us help. Soon a maintenance guy came to my rescue and I asked him if I was the only one this happened too, but surprisingly there are more people with my luck and that it happens all the time.
I ran off those stairs so fast, this is why I don’t follow things people do. Lesson learned
There is a list of musical I need to see but Waitress is on the top of the list.

As we left the time square area we looked to our right and there was the most beautiful sight I have ever seen. Hello Richard Rodgers theatre!
In a few hours we will be in The Room Where It Happens and it didn’t feel real but we were wiling to Wait For It

All the excitement for the night ahead of us was killed by how cold it was. So we started walking and found warmth in the Express in Time Square. We just wanted heat but came out with some clothes…my bad.
Up next walk over to Radio City where we were doing On Top Of the Rock

33495107246_dff9e8f439.jpg

We headed 850 feet up, first stop was the 67th floor, this floor is lined with glass so its not the picture perfect set up but the view is on point.

There are 3 observation decks 67th, 69th and 70th. So we headed up and up and up.

The view of Central park was pretty cool. This only led us musical fans to start singing Next Ten Minutes from The Last Five Years because honestly who doesn’t love Jeremy Jordan?

Love seeing your adventures in Disney and NYC. As someone who lives close by but only gets to the city at least twice a year for baseball games and the general touristy things, it was so fun to read what you guys were doing and to get some ideas for food.

I need to go back to try more food because there are just so many places!

Dear Evan Hansen

Our main reason for this quick trip was because we got lucky enough to get Hamilton tickets. While planning on things to do we were thinking of seeing another musical and started to look for tickets. It was between Waitress and Dear Evan Hansen, this was June so we knew nothing about Dear Evan Hansen. It was still off broadway and there was no soundtrack yet, however we had a gut feeling to just buy them and see what it was all about plus Ben Platt played Evan. I am SO GLAD we did this.

About The Show
“A Letter that was never meant to be seen, a lie that was never meant to be told, a life he never dreamed he could have. Evan Hansen is about to get the one thing he’s always wanted: a chance to finally fit in
Dear Evan Hansen is a new American musical about life and the way we live it”

Unlike many musicals it doesn’t transport you to a different world, it brings up a topics that society doesn’t talk much about and it brings it to the spotlight. Its a show that so many people can relate too and is something that could happen in everyday life.
The show is made up of 8 people, no dancing, just singing and acting and it will definitely have you crying at least once if not more.

Overview
Evan Hansen is the “never seen” “loner” senior at his school who has severe social anxiety/depression. His therapist tells him to write letters to himself, letters of positivity on how it’s going to be a good day. His first day of his senior year wasn’t all that great so he writes not such a positive letter saying how his whole life is depending on Zoe, a girl he’s liked forever but of course she doesn’t notice him. Then who finds this letter, Connor Murphy, another loner who is classified as a monster by his sister Zoe.
Connor ends up killing himself and his parents find Evans letter in his pocket, this makes them think that Evan was Connors only friend. Since Evan has a social disorder he ends up telling connor’s family they were friends…this little lie keeps growing and growing but while Evan keeps telling little white lies he is also gaining everything he wants out of life. A family (who was actually Connor’s), a dad to give him advise, a mom who is just there and not always working to make ends meet, and he finally got the girl he’s always wanted. But of course nothing can survive on lies, the truth comes out and everything blows up.
It definitely is a musical based on sad aspects but it also has very hilarious moments. Ben Platt became Evan, he made awkwardness look so normal for him and there were so many times when I just wanted to wrap him up in a hug.

Soundtrack Summary
Anybody Have A Map: Having no clue how to parent, flying blind and making it up as you go
Waving Through A Window: Evan’s song about him being lonely and invisible
For Forever: A happy “memory” about a perfect day with a friend…The first lie/ if I had friends son
Sincerely Me: A personal favorite, one of the only upbeat happy songs. Letters written between Evan and Connor…but mostly a song about making up letters written from a dead kid.
Requiem: The Murphy family song, Zoe refuses to be sad that her older brother died after all he was a monster.
If I Could Tell Her: I love this song, Evan tells Zoe everything he has noticed of her but plays it off as everything her brother noticed about her…it’s basically Evan confessing his love for her.
Disappear: Evan makes a foundation dedicated to Connor
You Will Be Found: If you’re not crying, now you are

To Break In A Glove: Mr Murphy and Evan have “father/son” bonding
Only Us: Zoe and Evan. Quit focusing on my dead brother and focus on us
Good For You: Evan’s mom finds out what Evan has been up too
Worlds Fail: Evan’s confession… bring on the water works!
So Big/So Small: Evan’s mother to Evan, I’m not always “here” for you but I will never leave you
Finale: If you’re not crying…you are forcing yourself not too.

Even when the dark comes crashing through
When you need a friend to carry you
And when you're broken on the ground
You will be found

sometimes, you see everything you wish you had
And it's right there in front of you
And you want to believe it's true
So you make it true and you think maybe everybody wants it
And needs it a little bit too

Dear Evan Hansen,
Today is going to be a good day. And here's why: because today, today at least you're you and that's enough.

When the show ended I just had so much on my brain and needed to soak everything in that I just watched infold in front of me. After many tears we headed outside and to the stage door. We had a few minutes to spare before we had to head to dinner but we decided to wait with the crowd to see who might possible come out. We went to the matinee and they had another show later that night so we thought no one would come out. Michael Park (Larry Murphy) and Will Roland (Jared) came out and they were just super nice people.

We headed down a couple blocks to La Messeria, when Marisa booked this reservation here because they cater to theater goings, get them in get them out. It was a cute little restaurant. We were seated up stairs on the smallest little area ever. Overall the food was ok but the whole time we both felt judge, mostly because we were sitting a foot away from a couple who didn’t speak once to each other and the lady was definitely ease dropping.
We were however in and out in no time leaving us with more time than we had thought.
The restaurant was located right next to the Amelie theater and I just want it to open already! Phillipa Soo is amazing so I can only imagine how great this show is going to be. (I was a little mad that I wouldn’t see her in Hamilton but its cool)

We had time to kill so we browsed some shops as we headed back to the Richard Rogers theater.

Richard Rodgers Theater - Hamilton

Hamilton is basically the hottest musical on broadway and its like the hunger games to get tickets.
A year ago Marisa and I started listening to the album, I was very skeptical at first for 2 reasons
1) It was a hip hop/ rap musical and 2) Hamilton…a history show.
I decided to give it a go by the first song I decided to listen too I was hooked. Thanks Jonathan Groff for sucking me in with You’ll Be Back. And after a 12 hour flight to Japan I basically had that 3 hour soundtrack memorized.

This was the first show that I was “obsessed” with the original cast and by the time we saw it they were all gone, so I tried my hardest not to compare.
With this soundtrack basically played every day of my life I came to the conclusion that it would be years until I would actually get to see it live. So when I heard that they were opening another block of tickets after the Tony Awards I immediately texted Marisa because I couldn’t go see it with anyone else. She ended up getting us tickets for a random weekend in February and I was shocked that they weren’t $500-$900 each. They were still pricey but it was worth it!

Before we got to the theater we still had time to waste. Right across the street they have their own little store. And if you don’t get hamilton merchandise did you really go?

When we got into the theater it felt unreal, like it was just another musical we were going to see not HAMILTON. We found our seats and did what everyone in that theater does. You finally made it into THE ROOM WHERE IT HAPPENS.

“Ladies and gentlemen, you coulda been anywhere in the world tonight,
but you’re here with us in New York City.
Are you ready for a cabinet meeting?”

When the show started I was basically in tears from the very first note played just because it was officially real, however the real tears would come during the second act.
Overall the cast was great. Hamilton was an understudy and he was AMAZING! I love Lin but this guy had a voice of an angel. Jordan Fisher was Lawrence/ Philip Hamilton and he was also super great. I was very skeptical when I learned he was taking over but he surprised me.
I was a little disappointed in Eliza, she’s my favorite and I knew Philipa Soo would be hard to top. And Washington during One Last Time was lacking something for me.
The show overall was everything I wanted. I have never heard a theater crowd cheer/shout more loudly than when Hamilton & Lafayette say “immigrants we get the job done” Then how many people were crying during It’s Quiet Uptown…everyone! And when it ended I just wanted to watch it all over again.

My only pet peeve about this night was that we sat next to another set of friends who clearly had no theater etiquette because they were singing along and basically conducting the whole show. We get it, you know the music by heart…but so does basically everyone in the room.
After the show we met up with Marisa’s friend Emily and went to a random place to grab some drinks to end our night. At around 1am we decided to make the long walk back to our hotel, which seemed so far away and in a few short hours we had to be up to catch our train/plane back to our homes.

This is where this TR comes to an end. But not to fret, I've got some Disney and Non Disney (I'm crossing the ocean and I just can't wait!" -Angelica Schuyler, Hamilton) adventures in the near future and I cannot wait!

Loved your NYC add-on report (that's where I live!) - you managed to pack in a lot in just a few days. You saw two of my favorite shows - we saw Hamilton at the Public and just saw Evan Hansen recently. Glad you had such a great time!
