It"s cold!!!!

I was reading somewhere that it might snow in Florida this weekend - is that even possible ???

The weather prediction for tomorrow and Saturday includes the possibiloity of snow, sleet or "grapple".

I had never heard of grapple before, but apparently, it's the snow equivalent of hail and it's very hard.

The TV weather guy says that due to the cold temp and hard grapple, if your tires are not inflated properly, they could blow out.

I've seen Floridians drive in the rain......if it snows.....watch out.:scared1::scared1:

Rhode Island drivers are pretty bad too. God forbid if it rains or snows....all driving skills go out the darn window !!!

Wow! I'm sure it's snowed in Orlando before, but just hearing you say chance of snow puts me in the Bazzaro World.

The marathoners better bundle up. How cool would it be to run while it was snowing at Disney World.

For those of you traveling down: Sorry :(
For those of you who live there:Ha Today it was 30 some degrees in Jersey! :P

It last happened in 1977. They even got a few flakes in Miami. I was in school at UF at the time and they cancelled classes. As a then recent transplant from Upstate New York, it was fun watching my friends who had never seen snow before. I walked around campus in shorts and a sweatshirt. Now I am bundled up and freezing.

Wow. Seems pretty cold there then. I'd still rather be in Orlando though. Here, university is closed, again, and its like walking round an ice rink. I only went to get a new game that came out today. I'm also waiting for my new camera to turn up, I'm quite excited about that :D.

I can presume walking to work tomorrow is going to be fun

No me gusta grapple. Either the snow/hail kind or the apples that taste like grapes.

I don't want snow in Orlando. I am supposed to be leaving snow behind me today...

All the schools shut here because of the snow and cold

They won't shut schools here for anything, if the buses can run, school's on. Last year my DD went to school at -40 to -50. :scared1:
I work at the university and it won't close either. Each professor can cancel their classes, but officially it business as usual.

Sending warm thoughts for you all down there, from those of us here in the frozen north! ;)

Here the schools don't shut due to cold and snow.
However if it's a bad snow storm the school bus don't pick-up the children.
The schools thing is you can drive your children if you like, otherwise they are not getting to school.
This is the only time I consider myself fortunate to live across the street from the school. :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:
It's cold here and the sun is shining.
It's been snowing all morning and the plow has been by twice.
I have decided to wait for Kenny to come home from school and let him shovel the driveway. :)

I live about 1 1/2 hrs. north of NYC. Very few people who live here in downstate NY are comfortable driving in the snow. (I was originally from upstate, so this was very weird to me when I moved here).

My kid's school district has delays and closings if the sky even sneezes. This morning we had an inch, and for some reason they weren't delayed. Boy, were they mad!! I told them "Welcome to my world" b/c the district I work in never has delays. This did not improve their mood.

Even here in Sarasota they say we may have to grapple with the grapple.

Which is sure to bring many grumbles from the bundled mumblers.

:rotfl:

Britain just don't have the systems in place to deal with it. My boyfriend's uni is already been told it will be closed on Monday since they have run out of grit to keep the roads clear. My University hasn't made up its mind, but currently I don't know if i'll be able to make it in for the start of term.

Plus since we aren't used to snow no one knows how to drive in it!! More snow is forecast, so it is only going to get worse!

Is "grapple" anything like "scrapple"??? (I went to college in Central PA, learned about scrapple there)

The weather prediction for tonight is 27 degrees.

It's supposed to be this cold all week and even into next week.

If you are headed to WDW....bring your snuggies, hats and gloves.

See what all that tuanting about the great Florida weather did. At least you guys don't have all the snow. Although I understand they are calling for a chance of snow there as well. Here in PA it is going to be 17 tonight and no let up for quite some time to come. All next week they are calling for day time highs in the 30s if we are lucky. We got a couple of inches of snow last night. Which was nothing compared to the weekend before Christmas where we got 16 inches. Oh well I will take the snow over the hurricanes you guys get any day.

Yeah if that happens the roads are going to be a scary place to be. Good luck with that Kevin. Best to stay in if possible.

Saw a sattelite shot on the news last night of England....solid white. And they were saying it's within a few degrees of being the coldest on record!

We Canadians chuckle only because we're used to such extremes and have all the resources always in place but it's like trying to prepare for a once in a 100 year flood for other places...so you keep sandbags piled up by your door for the other 99 years too?

Stay safe! Don't take any chances and think warm.

According to weather.com it's supposed to be in the mid 60's in Orlando by Wednesday and in the 70's by Saturday.
