It"s cold!!!!

Let's all go to Disneyland! Looks like it's the mid-70's in LA today. :goodvibes

Sounds good Kathy, let's go! It's suppose to snow here today. Since I've been home it has only snowed 4" so that's not bad. I hope April comes fast so I can head to sunny and warm California!

While I would take Florida weather over our balmly 1 degree weather in Iowa, with windchill, -12, I can't imagine visiting a warm toasty vacation destination and having it only be 50 degrees. That is how it was for my sister last year or the year before. I can't remember which January she went.

The major question, is it too cold to record the podcast today?

Kim

for 35 years, I lived where Paul and Alicia live.

I understand cold so cold it makes your eyelashes freeze.

When I lived on the Tundra...we had the right insulation and the right windows and the right doors to help withstand the cold.

In Florida (as with other places in the South) our homes are not built for frigid weather. My windows are a sheet of glass...not double paned thermal windows.

Our houses are not insulated for 20 degree weather. Our houses are built for 90 degree weather.

Also.....please understand that I'm not complaining. We will have a week or two of this weather and then it will be back to our regular winter weather.

I'm sharing this information because I see tourists in the shopping areas snatching hats, gloves, sweat pants and shirts and anything made of polar fleece and just as the merchants love to put out $8.00 ponchos when it rains....they also love to put out $10.00 gloves when it's cold.

Just be prepared for weather much colder than you'd normally expect if you are coming in the next 10 days

We have like three feet of snow and it continues to pile up. When it will stop is anybody's guess. I don't even know what the temp is. Colder than 27, lol.

But when you pack up and move your life to Orlando, you don't need 27 degrees coming around. That's WHY you move to Orlando. Well, half of why, I'd think.

It's good of you to warn people. I was in the MK when it was like 37 degrees and they were sold out of gloves. Had to get some at the Contemporary.

Cold sucks. Snow sucks.

Winter just sucks.

Being there last week I can atest to what Kevin is saying. Bring your hats, gloves, and scarves with you. It's very uncomfortable being in the theme parks at night when the temps are in the 30's with no hats, gloves or scarves. It will make the difference between an enjoyable trip versus a trip of mercy.

Sadly, I saw small children without jackets, hats, or gloves last week. A few of them where screaming and crying. One parent responded to their small child by asking....What is wrong? Why are you crying so much? It was obvious, the poor boy was freezing!

Be prepared. :)

A cold WDW is no fun.

You know how you don't think about the ride vehicle being cold when you are there and its warm?

You think about that when you get on Big Thunder Mountain and the train is cold. It makes you feel cold.

Bring your warm clothes and have a great time. :thumbsup2

Not to mention, if you're not an average size, you might have difficulty finding something warm and cozy that fits, even if you are willing to pay exorbitant prices for it.

The good news for some of the travelers is that they'll have warm stuff on when they leave home, so they can just carry it along for the trip.

I wonder how many people will still ride Kali River Rapids. :lmao:

When it's that cold at WDW does Splash Mountain become Slush Mountain?

So much for global warming LOL
Please keep that positive attitude of yours, your going to the happiest place on earth.
With cooler temps, the crowds, that were going to be low to begin with, are now going to be very much in your foavr to ride rides.....see lots of attractions with little to no wait.....just make sure you arrive 30 min before park open, and your gold all day in the parks.
I went last January and it was very cold......had a blast. The only time I would say it effected our trip plans was Downtown Disney at night......we probably didnt enjoy that as much as we could've, but that was a minor thing for me compared to all the easing of the crowds. Stay positive, it will be magical.....

BTW...im jealous of you, I have to wait until October to go.....

Unless it's below 0F, it's still shorts weather!!

Just kidding.

Stay warm everybody, there's nothing more miserable than a cold and damp Florida. Dont be ashamed to bring your snowmobile suit (I wore mine one time while in Daytona for the races).

Ok...if you are an adult and headed to the Magic Kingdom in your snowmobile suit....please call Kathy and I.

We'll be there with camera equipment.:thumbsup2

Do you really want to put that out there......:confused3:confused3:goodvibes

Oh wait. You said adult. I don't qualify. :sad1:

Just to get to see Kathy and Kevin, I would dress up in a snowmobile suit.

But it would be fun to wear winter clothes to the MK like a snowmobile suit. You never get to do that, so I would take the opportunity. :thumbsup2

But does this surprise anyone?

Thanks for the heads up Kevin. I am adding gloves and long johns to my suitcase today.
