Is this a cheap way to get around the parking rules at the Contemporary?

Keeping your car valet parked at the CR and other MK Monorail Resorts after a meal

  • Yes it's wrong because people use it as a cheap way to get around the rules

  • No it's ok because the Cast Member said I could

  • I don't care because whenever I eat at the MK Resorts I park at the TTC

  • Other

Let me get this straight. It's not all right to break the rules and park at CR to go to MK, but is all right to break the rules and reuse your old mugs.

Isn't that a tad hypocritical?

:confused3 Color me confused. Who here in this thread has mentioned the refillable mug issue and that its ok to reuse an old mug?

I believe that the OP has stated that he/she reuses old mugs. OP has posted a number of rather remarkable threads stating their viewpoint about a number of topics. Quite often the threads are closed.

For the record I am a guy and in the future can you please remember that.

Sorry, you are being unrealistic. There are over 100,000 users registered on this site. Unless the user name is gender specific like AndyB, BonnieA, CarolA, I don't know the gender (and I may be wrong my assumptions on the above posters - even 'Sammie' is a gender neutral name)

I don't even know what your user name means, so how can you expect me to know and remember your gender? Many of us turn off the signature feature as well, so that makes posters even more generic.

I am sometimes mistaken for a male here; all that I do if I feel the need to point out that I am not is to say something like

'That's MS Bavaria ;) ' Most of the time I don't need to point out my gender to the readers.

and I believe that the OP may not realize that a large portion of WDW customers are locals and business guests. She may be thinking of tourists as she is one herself, but locals and conventions bring in significant revenue for WDW.

How can someone attending a convention and valet parking be expected to move their car every three hours? I have had business many many many (did I say many?) times at WDW over the years; I use valet quite a bit. I would certainly not move my car. Nor have I at the hundreds of valet lots I have used around the world.

I refer to my above post. HOW would a convention guest even know about this 'three hour rule' if they go during off season and valet park, or even self park and aren't given a pass? I often don't get a 3 hour pass even when self parking.

That's why it's important to read threads like this. You learn about rules that you might otherwise violate. popcorn::

Rules regarding mug re-use are clearly posted in most of the resort food courts. I first learned about the valet parking rule in the Contemporary by reading this thread. Those (few) posters who believe rules posted in the internet are valid should follow those rules. The rest of us will limit us to rules that are communicated by Disney.

Someone staying at the Contemporary for a convention does not need to worry about the 3 hour time limit. So they are free to self park there car or valet park. Finally they would get a Contemporary parking pass that says the day they check in and check out. Also I have noticed parking passes for guests staying with a convention will say the name of it on there.

many convention guests are NOT resort guests - they are day guests. Your argument is flawed. The valet does not ask if one is a convention guest or not.

The poll is a red herring. There is no rule limiting valet parking and valet customers aren't cheap.

Contemporary has 2 very popular restaurants, a lot of conventions and hotel guests. A section of the parking lot is now closed.

A better question is if Disney is doing enough to provide adequate parking for the customers of the Contemporary.

How can my argument be flawed when the parking pass said Disney's Contemporary Resort, the amount of days they would be staying there, the name of the company on the parking pass and seeing that company's name on the list of conventions inside the Contemporary on the electronic information board saying they are in the Fantasia board room.

I have always said the Contemporay should have a seperate parking lot for guests staying there and guests just there to eat. Other WDW Resorts like the Boardwalk, Yacht and Beach Club have that so I think it would be a smart idea.

I drive into the Contemporary for business at the hotel. Nobody asks for my ID at the gate. The valet does not ask my business.

I valet park. I do not receive a ticket or pass stating that I can only park for three hours.

I go about my business

When business ends, I take a launch to VWL for dinner at the WL.

I HAVE NOT violated any rule. Disney did not advise me of any rule.

Sorry, beg to differ. The self parking at BW and BC are NOT marked 'for nonresort guests only'. The lots are the same for resort and nonresort guests. I stayed at BCV a few weeks ago, and self park at BW all the time.

You're ignorning the substantial number of convention attendees.

Valet parking serves that purpose yet you started this thread :confused3

bavaria you never responded to this response I gave you. You 1st told me "many convention guests are NOT resort guests - they are day guests. Your argument is flawed. The valet does not ask if one is a convention guest or not". I then replied with this.

I did respond. I am not just a tourist at Disney.

But this is getting silly and I am backing out as there I am not going to take the word of a youth as to how I can conduct my business.

I e-mailed Walt Disney World about this topic and they said even you valet park your car and want to go to the Magic Kingdom after a meal you need to move your car to the TTC. If you want proof here is the e-mail I sent them and their reply.

My e-mail to WDW

If a guest valet parks for a meal at the Contemporary, Polynesian or
Grand Floridian Resorts for a meal and once it is done and they want to
go to the Magic Kingdom, are they allowed to leave their car in the
valet parking lot or do they have to move it to the TTC parking lot? I
have always thought the rule is parking at the Resorts is not for theme
parks because I have seen that posted and I also assumed that includes
the valet parking lot.

Their reply

Dear Jason,

Thank you for contacting the Walt Disney World Resort.

You are correct. When you finish your meal and have completed your time
at Disney's Contemporary Resort you should move your auto to the TTC
parking lot.

If you have questions or need further assistance, feel free to contact
us.

Please include your full name, E-Mail address, and reservation number if
applicable on all correspondence.

Thank you!

Sincerely,

Howard Bowen

I think since that reply came right from WDW we now know that it is not ok the leave your car in any valet parking lot and visit the theme parks after having a meal in the Resorts restaurant.
