Is this a cheap way to get around the parking rules at the Contemporary?

Keeping your car valet parked at the CR and other MK Monorail Resorts after a meal

  • Yes it's wrong because people use it as a cheap way to get around the rules

  • No it's ok because the Cast Member said I could

  • I don't care because whenever I eat at the MK Resorts I park at the TTC

what frankly makes me wonder about the OP's motives is that he doesn't refer to other resorts. As I have pointed out repeatedly, the same may hold true for BW/BWV/BC/BCV/YC. Guests may also be parking at the Polynesian and GF and taking the monorail to MK. Yet all we hear from the OP is about the Contemporary, which leads me to believe that this thread started from selfish motives, rather than altruistic ones.

If the intent is for me to move my car from valet parking after 3 hours, am I supposed to leave a meeting (or wedding ceremony!), retrieve my car from the valet, circle the driveway, and valet park the car for another three hours?

That examples shows the absurdity of the imaginary three hour valet parking limit.

Why else would he care @ all unless he does stay @ the CR & wants to be able to find a parking spot? Sorta an unalienable right imo.;)

Only reason I give a hoot is that it did affect us in Oct. during our stay @ the CR; self-parking was more difficult to find near entrance to walkway of MK due to lot being partially closed...can only imagine what it's like now.

We only valet @ BW & BC (partially because the walk to self-park is a doosey); additionally because we get it comp'd via DVC and only have to tip:thumbsup2 .

So, yes; my reasons are personal:) and I assume yours are too; nothing to be accusatory about; just a difference in opinion/needs:confused3

The OP started a thread about VALET parking, not self parking. Until we hear about guests being turned away from valet parking, it is not an issue. I have been reading and posting here since 2001 and have never heard of a guest being refused valet parking.

Choosing to valet and walk to the MK after dinner is a different scenario than choosing to self park and walk to the MK after dinner.

Three hour passes for self parking have been given out, during busy times, for years. I'd expect Easter week will be one such week.

The OP only asked about valet parking. Very simple, if Disney has a limit on valet parking it would be listed on the slip.

I'd expect limits on valet parking if it's likely the lot will be filled to capacity. Has anyone ever seen a sign that said no valet parking, lot full?

I certainly think any Contemporary guest, who wants to valet park and sees a valet lot full sign, should complain.

Easter weekend should "tell the tale"popcorn:: .

If you have CR overnight guests annoyed because valet is full OR self parking is non-existent OR very far-flung (partly because of the north lot being closed); it won't take long to turn the suggestion into an across-the-board policy for all to follow.

Very easy for convention attendees to be given a parking pass for verification.

Not to split hairs, Should-a, Would-a, Could-a --- should is a matter of semantics; is the meaning mandatory or more of a suggestion; as in a suggested gratuity.;)

This thread makes me want to valet park my rental car at the Contemporary every single day I'm in WDW, whether I am visiting the CR, MK, Chef Mickey's or not.

In fact, I think I will valet park at CR to take the boat to WL for dinner.

;)

The OPs motives are irrelevant to the veracity of the question.

Likewise, the ludicrous example you make is irrelevant, because if you are in a monorail resort for something like a convention, a wedding, or a business meeting that is scheduled using Disney facilities (which you have to pay for), you will get a parking pass for the day, so the 3 hour limit doesn't apply to you.

After all, everybody in this thread is agreed that there IS a 3 hour limit on self-parking; does that mean that if I go to Contemporary for a convention that I am required to valet park instead of self park? Somehow I doubt that.

There is no rule regarding time limits on valet parking. Once we understand the OP is talking about making up a rule or suggesting Disney should make a rule then his motives are relevant. His motives are very questionable since not a single poster has ever observed a "valet lot full" sign at the Contemporary.
