I was just wondering what dissers thoughts are about this money saving WDW tip I read a few months ago on the boards----I heard you can order a double cheesburger and ask for an extra bun (or maybe you only have to pay a small amount for an extra bun). Do you think this is a great way to save or would you consider this to be "stealing"???:confused3

You have to pay for the extra bun. Why would it be stealing? You are paying for everything you are getting.

Would you feel better if i order the double burger and just took one burger off of it and ate that with half of the fries?

(Who needs the stinking bun anyway?)

Nope, not stealing. It's the same as sharing food which people do in restaurants all over the world. As said you are paying for the extra bun.

Not stealing at all. You pay for the extra bun. It is a great way to save money. You can order the double burger and an extra bun and it is alot cheaper than ordering 2 burgers. Plus it is great for the kids!

i suggest if you are using this method be sure to go to a restaurant with a hamburger toppings bar.

My suggestions.

-pecos bills MK
-donald's restaurantsauras AK

better value when you split a double burger

I don't think it's stealing at all. What would you do with the extra bun if you weren't planning on making a burger with it? Why would they offer the 2nd bun for sale if they didn't intend people doing this? Anyway, I plan on doing this for our trip in August. My DS wouldn't eat an entire kids meal and usually can't eat a entire adult meal, so I plan on sharing with him that way.

OK here's another one that I had heard on these boards that people do and amazingly I saw it done on one of my next trips,is this stealing?Asking for plates and going to the burger condiment bar and getting some lettuce, tomatoes and onions and putting some honey mustard for chicken strips on it!!!!

To the hamburger quesion - Not stealing to eat what you paid for. But I would think going to the condiments bar for both burgers is stealing. You are buying on meal that has the condiments bar included. Feeding two would be stealing, but I would doubt anybody would notice.

Taking stuff from the condiments bar for your own food is stealing. Making a salad at the condiments bar is also stealing.

THAT is stealing.

YES, that's stealing!!!!

If you have to ask........

I DO have to ask, as this is a dilemma for me! On the Dis podcast a few weeks ago, I think it was Bob who mentioned that many find this to be stealing, this hadn't occured to me consciously, as I had figured that once you pay for something, then you can use it any way you wish to use it (I was fine with the double burger idea, even if they would give a FREE bun if we requested!), but once I actually arrived at the burger bar, I just couldn't bring myself to go through w/ it, so that's started me wondering why---because, but on the other hand the intentions are to squeeze an entire extra "nearly free" burger out of Mickey...knowing full well that others are paying full price.... Though I never bought the double burger, I did come home with 4 extra Mickey soaps, 2 shampoos (I aked the CM's for these and they were fine with giving them to me) and a handful of napkins (I LOVE the WDW napkins---they are FUN momentos to put in a school lunchbox!). Surely a handful of napkins is okay??????

Thanks for the replies---I would like to hear from more dissers about their feelings on this.

It never even occurred to me that it would be considered to be stealing by some people. I always figured that if you pay for something, how you use it is your own business.

And also, since Disney charges approx. 80 cents for the extra bun, they are making money on that deal. Hardly stealing, IMHO.

I do have a problem, however, with guests who make a "side salad" out of the condiment bar.

Oh, jeez. If "they" didn't expect a guest to split a burger, they wouldn't offe the extra bun. If "they" didn't expect a guest to use two burgers worth of the condiment bar, "they" wouldn't offer the extra bun. I've never done it, because we don't usually care for bugers... but I've seen it done.

Napkins? Grab a handful! If you had a very messy child, would "they" tell you to limit your napkin usage? Um, no. But if you are "normal" person and you grabbed a few too many napkins? I think you're in the clear to do with them whatever you please. If you take more than what is set out for people to use for free (as in open a cabinet and take a new package of napkins), then you're stealing... but unless they specifically put a limit on the number of napkins or the number of lettuce slices they want you to take... Then help yourself. Just don't be wasteful. Wastefulness is a terrible quality to possess. ;)

The burger thing certainly isn't stealing; the counter person sold it to you. What you do with it from there is up to you. But, I'd say going in and eating from a condiment bar would be stealing if you bought nothing to put said toppings on.

I do know that if I ever tried either(which I wouldn't) my family would run to the nearest exit and I would not see them again for the rest of the day.

We've done the double burger thing once. I don't think it is stealing at all. I ordered a double cheeseburger and a bun to share with my then 2 yr old DD. My kids did not like anything from the children's menu at Peco's Bill, they wanted cheeseburgers. We did buy the cheeseburger for DS and DD had the one I made for her. She was 2 and didn't eat alot at all!

I didn't feel it was stealing at all. It would have been worse wasting $6 to buy her a regular adult meal and then tossing 80% of it into the garbage. Had they offered a kid's cheeseburger meal, I would have purchased that instead. But they don't :)

(And yes, I know the reasons they don't offer kids' hamburger meals LOL)

Of course it's not stealing, you paid for everything you're eating! That's like saying b/c DH and I always share a large fry b/c we can't eat 2 orders of fries that we are stealing.

Would it make people feel better if instead of breaking the burger into parts, you and the other person just started eating from different ends of the burger until you met in the middle like Lady and the Tramp?

What you do with your food after you've purchased it is your business. You can mush it up and wear it for a hat if you want.

No, of course it's not stealing. You paid for the bun and the double burger. Eat it anyway you want.

What I do think is wrong is people who make salads from the condiment bars and order nothing.
