Is ordering a double cheese burger and getting an extra bun stealing?

No offense but, I think you are thinking too hard.

Relax and do whatever floats your boat.

As some pp's have noted, the prices are high, but the meals are BIG- so to us, the food just isn't that pricey- b/c none of us eats a whole meal at once! Or drinks an entire soda-

I don't think that most posters are saying that ordering an extra bun is stealing.

I said it's stealing if you don't order and pay for anything at all, and then make a meal out of the salad bar.

I've witnessed this over the years in Cosmic Rays while sitting there observing people all around.

I've seen people walk in and sit at a table, bring out their own brown bags from home, and then go up to the salad bar and come back with loads of lettuce, tomatoes and all of the rest of the stuff that's up there. At least buy a drink to go along with all of the free stuff you've helped yourself to.

That's the person I would label a cafone.

No flames, but I'm sorry I just don't get it. If you need to get extra buns for burgers (I think this is ok by the way) and make a salad by asking for plates to use on a condiment bar (this I consider stealing) - well, maybe you can't really afford disney in the first place.

I love being as frugal as the next person, but I think you have to draw the line at some point. And if you have kids with you, what lesson is this teaching them?

Well, 1st-ordering an extra bun or sharing a soda or fries teaches my kids that most Americans stuff themselves on way too much junk food, and it's not necessary to overeat just b/c the portions are oversized in the first place, and priced accordingly-
the 2nd lesson they learn is that not just following the herd, and buying too much junk and either stuffing oneself to finish it,or wasting it,and the money you worked hard to earn, is a good thing!
3rd,it teaches them that working hard is a virtue, money isn't disposable(to most of us)and it's up to each of us individually to make wise use of our own resources.
4th- that yes, many wonderful vacations and experiences can be had for far less than *most* people assume... I could afford to overpay and overeat, but I think overconsumption is fairly digusting......and I'm not just referring to food......
We eat this way not only to save some money, but b/c we just don't need it!
For those of you who believe that you all need something of your own, that's fine. But there are plenty of us who enjoy a GREAT Disney vacation, do NOT steal,EVER, and spend a boatload less of money!
-Just stealing condiments is different than sharing-

Why not just order the double cheese burger and cut it in half..wouldnt that be the same amt of burger as taking one patty off and using an extra bun?? You also save the 80 cents from the extra bun.

Children usually do not like to share, and it's certainly easier to give each child their own burger w/o having to worry that one is smaller than their siblings'.

It's also a bit challenging to keep the condiments on only half a burger w/o them falling off.

I have done this on our last two trips... no problems at all. And while I support Disney's choice to offer healthy choices, not one of my 3 kids would eat anything they offer on the kid's menu. So now what... order 3 Dbl. cheeseburgers? That's at least $18 for 3 "kid's" meals.:confused3

As far as condiments go- Who cares as long as you pay for a meal. Those "extras" are built into the cost of meals. Some people take lots for their burger and some only take a little. It all balances out in the end and believe me, if Disney was losing money, they would change it in a heartbeat. They're no dummies.

Disney knows what people are doing with the extra bun they buy. If they felt it was stealing they would stop selling them.

I think that when we are in the World we all of a sudden have this sense of entitled Utopia. Where all things are fair and we all conform to certain expectations and rules. It is frustrating when we see others violating our set of perceived Disney rules and etiquette. With so many people from so many cultures and value systems all we can do is lead by example and try not to sit in judgment of others. It takes too much negative energy to do that- especially in the HAPPIEST PLACE ON EARTH! Focus on having the time of your life!

If you don't pay extra for the bun, I think it borders on stealing. If you do, than that's certainly not stealing IMO.
I agree to cut it in half. Even if kids don't like to share, it does help teach them sharing and being frugal.

I think this thread is rather funny. Buying a double burger and buying an extra bun is not stealing. Nor is putting tomato or lettuce on that extra bun. For goodness sakes you paid for the bun, you can put whatever you want on it. Just an FYI, I have been paying $1.39 for that extra bun, so if I want to add condiments to it I certainly will! We are at Disney right now and have done this already 3 times. I don't feel bad at all. I also requested a cup of ice and brought my own pop, am I stealing ice from disney? If you ask for ice water they give it to you for Free so are you stealing that too? If you purchase a pop and want two straws by all means get two straws. Some of you are so technical, Disney isn't going to care if you share a pop and use two straws:rotfl:

Just when I think the morals can't get any tighter around here, I find this thread. :rotfl2: This is a good one.

IMO: No, it isn't stealing. And, gasp, I ordered and ate off a childrens menu at a counter service restaurant yesterday! Do you think they'll find out?

My DH and I always share a drink. I have never once even thought of myself as stealing.

Just to add some info to the soda sharing, several years ago when our girls were young and drank very little, we were trying to decide what to get to drink for the four of us. The cashier suggested to us to order 2 large drinks with no ice and four cups of ice. That has worked out great for us for a long time now.

we do that every trip at Pecos Bills. 5 people = 1 large diet coke (no ice), 1 sprite (no ice), 1 ice water, and 4 cups of ice. We also get not one, but 2 of the double cheeseburger meals sometimes, with 2 extra buns. LOL... My DH usually gets the chicken wrap, but the kids and I share the burgers. works out well for us.
