Is ordering a double cheese burger and getting an extra bun stealing?

Of course it's not stealing, you paid for everything you're eating! That's like saying b/c DH and I always share a large fry b/c we can't eat 2 orders of fries that we are stealing.

Would it make people feel better if instead of breaking the burger into parts, you and the other person just started eating from different ends of the burger until you met in the middle like Lady and the Tramp?

What you do with your food after you've purchased it is your business. You can mush it up and wear it for a hat if you want.

:lmao: Lady and the Tramp comment---sooo funny!
I saw another thread about photpass sharing, and that has started me thinking as well....

ummmm...sounds like the OP wanted to get a reaction.... stealing is taking something without paying for it:confused3
if I use less lettuce on my split up double burger, am I superior to the person next to me who doesn't split it,and uses twice as much lettuce? silly, silly questions......

I think people get all bent out of shape saying it's stealing cause they didn't think of it first and they're probably all mad because they paid full price for 2 regular burgers.

I say if you're not smart enough to think of it yourself, don't go judging others who had better sense than you!!

Just my .02 ;)

The burger thing certainly isn't stealing; the counter person sold it to you. What you do with it from there is up to you. But, I'd say going in and eating from a condiment bar would be stealing if you bought nothing to put said toppings on.

I do know that if I ever tried either(which I wouldn't) my family would run to the nearest exit and I would not see them again for the rest of the day.

Yes, it is silly, and as I said before, I was fine with the whole idea, but then found I couldn't go through with it once at CS and then there was the Disboards podcast comment.... If Disney sells those buns to us gladly, then I venture to say they must not mind that we Dissers have found a menu "loophole"???

Actually, I find it very smart and not at all stealing.

Much less food wasted, especially with small children who don't eat much of their food anyway.

So, my vote is "IT'S A DARN SMART CHOICE!"

We just returned from WDW last Sunday. We did the double-burger / extra bun thing twice with no problems.

Like the many others that have posted...I don't consider it stealing if you are paying for everything. If I actually purchased the double burger and the extra bun and then I ate the double burger and my DW just ate the bun with no meat, how would that be any different? We still paid the same amount.

The other tip I used several times at our resort (CBR) was to ask for the kids chicken nugget bucket without the bucket. Instead of paying $5.19 for a chicken nugget bucket that we wouldn't bring home anyway...I paid $3.99 for the nugget meal.

I never got a strange look for the extra bun thing either of the times I ordered....but, one of the servers asked me why I wanted the nugget bucket without the bucket. She told me the bucket comes "free" with the meal. I had to inform her that the bucket actually costs $1.20 and that if I get the meal without the bucket, I save that money.

Just to add flames to the sharing fire....my DW and I often share a drink during our counter service meals as well. Why would I pay $2.09 x 2 for two 22oz drinks when I can pay $2.39 once for a 32oz drink and share it with DW. DW usually doesn't drink a whole 22oz drink anyway.

$4.18 for 44oz of drink compared to $2.39 for 32oz of drink....

DH an I do this all the time. He makes fun of me when I get a soda. I will drink what I want and only about 1/2 an inch is gone. So I just take a few swigs from his large drink and I am happy and he does not miss it. He kisses me so he can share a straw with me too.:lmao: :lmao:

The $0.80 that you pay for the extra bun is sufficient to cover the cost of the bun and condiments for that bun, and include a profit. If you want to include a hamburger patty in it is up to you, since you have already paid for that. It would be an entirely different story if this was a buffet or family-style meal, and you were sharing that with someone that had not paid for the meal - that would be stealing.

Now I don't know about that. Sharing a straw is going a little too far. :goodvibes

Of course, I guess it might be stealing if you only order one drink and you take two straws. I usually drink out of the side of the cup while my DW uses the straw. I don't want to be considered a thief for having 2 straws in one drink :rolleyes1

My DW also likes mayo, lettuce, and tomatoes....while I like ketchup, mustard, and pickles. So...I don't consider it stealing since we don't "double-dip" on any of the items

I don't want to get tasered by Disney security for having an extra straw :)

OK here's another one that I had heard on these boards that people do and amazingly I saw it done on one of my next trips,is this stealing?Asking for plates and going to the burger condiment bar and getting some lettuce, tomatoes and onions and putting some honey mustard for chicken strips on it!!!!

We call a person like this a *cafone*.

It's amazing what some people will do to save a buck. This is stealing pure and simple.

A toppings bar is just that. Toppings for the burger or sandwich that you buy. How some people can justify making a meal from them is really kind of pathetic. :rolleyes1

Are you my husband?:confused3 ;) :lmao: :lmao:

He hates straws. As soon as I am done he drinks from the cup. He hates that they "restrict" the amount of liquids he can consume in one glup.!!!:rotfl2:

We would never be caught by WDW security, because he would not allow me to put in a straw for him!!!:rotfl:

I always thought they sold the plain bun for kids that wouldn't eat a burger but would eat cheese and pickles with mustard etc. So if you share a double burger with the wife or junior eats pickles and mustard they're expecting you to use the condiments either way.

If you haven't bought anything it is stealing.

I totally agree. I don't like having my "gulpage" restricted by a straw...whether it's soft drinks, beer, gumbo....lol

On this last trip...we ate at Pizzafari at the Animal Kingdom. When I arrived at the table with the food, I noticed that DW had no straw. I turned around to go get a straw and after taking about 3 steps realized..."Hey, I'm at Animal Kingdom...there are no straws." When I turned back towards the table, my DW was looking at me with this condecending face and I'm sure she was thinking "...what are you, a Disney rookie?" :confused3

Just the fact that they have no straws moved AK up to my #3 favorite park...ahead of MGM....lol

Lets see....

I bought and paid for the original double burger....

I bought and paid for a 2nd bun....

How can it be "stealing" if you bought and paid for what you are eating???

Some people sound like they are just annoyed that they didn't think of this trick first.

Definately not stealing. However, I personally don't understand why you just don't split the burger in half? :confused3 That's what I do with my sons who won't finish a whole one anyway!

As for making a salad out of the condiment bar, definately stealing! I worked at Hardees in HS and a little bit of college, and there was one woman who would always do that. She said her son was diabetic- um, so?? My dad and brother are diabetic, too, but if they want a salad, they buy one!! Geez, a side salad was only .99!

Well I also think that some people are so addicted to Disney in a bad way that they will do anything to protect the corporation. You should never complain about bad service, b/c, after all, you are LUCKY to be allowed to spend your money at Disney. Saving money by not buying another entire hamburger for your child, who will only eat half of it anyway but there is no child's hamburger option available, is taking money out of Disney's hands. Don't you know that burger-splitters are solely responsible for the poor wages and deteriorating park conditions at WDW?!

The rest of us can go on loving Disney, but remember that as the consumer we make their business possible. If we can't afford their high food prices, we adapt one way or the other. And that may mean either being creative with our food purchases or not going to the parks at all. I think Disney would be happy to sacrifice a burger loophole, just as they started "allowing" people to bring food into the parks, when it still means 5+ days of a four-member family consumption in other ways.

The condiment thing is stealing if you didn't order anything...

I worked fast food in high school and my pet peeve was people who would order water, walk over to the pop machine, and fill the water cup with pop!

(although in that area they called it soda, which is another debate altogether!)

----I heard you can order a double cheesburger and ask for an extra bun (or maybe you only have to pay a small amount for an extra bun). Do you think this is a great way to save or would you consider this to be "stealing"???:confused3
I don't consider it "stealing". DH and I have decided that we could easily cut our dining-out portions in half by sharing (in any given restaurant) and still be perfectly content for the evening. We are both steadily gaining weight and we don't eat nearly as much at home when we do when we eat away from home....I think this sounds like a good option.

ETA: I have now gone back and read some of the other posts and I like the idea much better to cut the order in half instead of eating the whole bun. My mind is on eating less food, not so much saving money, I guess. :flower3:
