Is ordering a double cheese burger and getting an extra bun stealing?

Wow DH and I share sodas all the time when we order fast food. Usually get a large and share (which even with no refills is more than enough soda for the 2 of us!).

Never considered that stealing....

Is it wrong we often to restaurants, order 2 meals for the 2 of us, and each have half of the otehrs meal (IE- 2 different sandwichs???). The restaurants never seemed to mind???

Buying a 2nd bun is perfectly legal to me. Pilfering from the conidment bar (espeically if you havent even purchased anything) is wrong! I do love condiment bars, and usaully get a couple extra pickles with my burger (not many at all).... does it matter if I eat them on the burger or off????? Which is stealing?

No, it's not stealing.

Personally, I'd just cut the double cheesburger in half and split it with the other person. That way I don't have to pay for the extra bun, and I won't get a funny look from the cashier when I just order a bun!

:thumbsup2 Agreed! We skimp on just about everything so that we can even afford to go. We eat in our condo (we don't even stay on property because of the cost), get couter service lunch and then eat dinner in the parks or DD at least a couple of times while there, other than that we eat in our condo.

We wouldn't go to the parks at all if we had to stay on property and eat all of our food at the parks. Seriously. In fact, we haven't gone in 18 months and aren't going again until we can pay off all of our loans except the house AND save up cash to go. Darn that Dave Ramsey!

Well I also think that some people are so addicted to Disney in a bad way that they will do anything to protect the corporation. You should never complain about bad service, b/c, after all, you are LUCKY to be allowed to spend your money at Disney. Saving money by not buying another entire hamburger for your child, who will only eat half of it anyway but there is no child's hamburger option available, is taking money out of Disney's hands. Don't you know that burger-splitters are solely responsible for the poor wages and deteriorating park conditions at WDW?!

The rest of us can go on loving Disney, but remember that as the consumer we make their business possible. If we can't afford their high food prices, we adapt one way or the other. And that may mean either being creative with our food purchases or not going to the parks at all. I think Disney would be happy to sacrifice a burger loophole, just as they started "allowing" people to bring food into the parks, when it still means 5+ days of a four-member family consumption in other ways.

...What you do with your food after you've purchased it is your business. You can mush it up and wear it for a hat if you want.

That is definately a picture that would be worth a thousand words.....:lmao:

I am going with the consensus that ordering a 2nd bun and using 2 burgers worth of condiments is not stealing. The make a side salad or top your bologna sandwiches from home crowd is stealing. My DD7 loves hamburgers and we split a double hamburger 3 or 4 times the week we were at WDW. I never got a funny look from a cashier, they have a dedicated button on the register to push, it has to be a common request.

Just to add flames to the sharing fire....my DW and I often share a drink during our counter service meals as well. Why would I pay $2.09 x 2 for two 22oz drinks when I can pay $2.39 once for a 32oz drink and share it with DW. DW usually doesn't drink a whole 22oz drink anyway.
Speed :teleport:

Ha! We NEVER order a bunch of sodas, IF we order soda, and that's a big if;) , we get the large one,and all sip from it, we're family, and we all have the same germs.... I know,it's absolutely shocking......:rotfl:
we have always bought a single drink wherever and whenever...it's just habit!

I think the extra bun thing is a great money saving tip! Not stealing at all. It doesn't work for my husband though. He is like Joey on Friends "I DON'T SHARE FOOD!!!" :rotfl2:

I worked fast food in high school and my pet peeve was people who would order water, walk over to the pop machine, and fill the water cup with pop!

(although in that area they called it soda, which is another debate altogether!)

This made me laugh..... when we lived in NC everyone said "SODA" and now back in CO, even it's been over 7 years I will still ask for "SODAPOP" and boy do I get some looks...... is it soda? or is it pop? and what kind do you have?!

As for the water cup, that drives me crazy as well... if I ask for water, then that is what I get.... my neice will order a water cup and go fill it up with sodapop, I tell her that was the right thing to do.......

But why is everyone worried about what others are doing? If you have better morals than the next person, be thankful!

Of course, I guess it might be stealing if you only order one drink and you take two straws.

I know you're just joking, but I'll bet some people would consider this stealing!:rotfl:

That is "sneaky sneaky".

I would of never thought of it myself, but good for you. If they would lower the price you would buy tw0 burgers.

If that is what it takes to take your family to DW, then go for it. Do you think Walt would of cared, NO.

DW has already gotcha for the hotel, tickets, drinks and merchendise.

I have no problem loading up on the mushrooms and tomatoes since I am paying for a few meals. Sometimes we share meals. I really hate to throw food away so I anticipate our kids not eating their entire meal. Sharing drinks with my wife is not a problem.

:rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

I think the main reason there is not a bigger argument to categorize this as stealing is the fact that they are actually selling you a bun. As a previous poster in this thread posted....there is a specific button on the register to charge a customer for a bun.

Now...if you were ordering a double burger and then going in the kitchen and taking a "free" bun while no one is looking....I would probably consider that stealing....but....

They sell you the burger for $8 with fries .... check
They sell you the bun for 80 cents .... check
They have a specific button on the register to charge you for the bun .... check

All sounds legitimate to me.

Now....if I wanted to stir the pot and get some people to disagree....I could post this...

I then take my double meat burger and extra bun....

I go to the toppings bar and fill up a gallon size zip lock with lettuce and other toppings for a salad later on....

I go to the drink fountain at my resort and fill up an old styrofoam cup I found for free....

I stop by my 1 room at the value resort and pick up the other 7 members in my party (3 more adults, and 3 children...Adults in the beds...kids on the floor).....

We get on the bus to Downtown Disney....then, get on another bus to a deluxe resort....

I proceed to jump in the pool while eating my cheap burger and drinking my "free" drink....

Of course, I leave the zip lock bag poolside for a snack later in the day.

Yep...that should about do it....:coffee:

What I do think is wrong is people who make salads from the condiment bars and order nothing.

No. You've got to be kidding. They don't buy anything??? Not even a drink?

I don't think I could every "lower myself" to do that. I'd be way too embarassed.

You forgot to follow the concierge guest into the lounge where you grab a free beer and some appetizers. :rotfl2:

Just to add some info to the soda sharing, several years ago when our girls were young and drank very little, we were trying to decide what to get to drink for the four of us. The cashier suggested to us to order 2 large drinks with no ice and four cups of ice. That has worked out great for us for a long time now.

We share drinks all the time. Almost always at fast food places...DH will usually get a "value meal" with large drink/fries and DS6 and I will just get single sandwiches and we will all share the fries and drink which is usually plenty for us. Otherwise we end up with xtra fries and soda. And unless one of us is sick we usually just share the same straw (I know, ew gross to some but I'm hard to gross out).

about the burger thing...last summer at WDW DH and I each got a burger the first time and realized that once they are loaded up with onions and mushrooms and all that good stuff, it is quite a bit of food so we ended up just splitting one the next time. It is expensive but I'll give them credit that it is a lot of food that you are getting. We did not know about the buying an extra bun thing, I think we just cut the burger in half.

I would say no if they're willing to sell you an extra bun, which I understand they will do. What do they think you're going to do with it, play field hockey?

Why not just order the double cheese burger and cut it in half..wouldnt that be the same amt of burger as taking one patty off and using an extra bun?? You also save the 80 cents from the extra bun.

That is what we have done. I'm not a big eater so less bread is better for me anyway.
But as for the original question, no it is not stealing. You can't steal something and pay for it at the same time.:confused3

OK that is just to funny!!

We have done this with our smallest DD also, at 15 months and just recently at 2yrs.
Why in the world would I order her and myself a full meal knowning that neither of us are going to eat the whole thing?? So we share! I personally don't feel that I am stealling a thing.
