Good Afternoon Jamborinis & Kidanites

Good morning, Jamborinis and Kidanites!

I have just booked 9 nights at the Dolphin for next October. With the teacher's discount they offer it was just too tempting. Other than the very first time we went to WDW we have never not stayed in a genuine WDW resort. But I know this will be fine as I have studied everything I could find and picked the brains of all my other Disney friends who stay there all the time!

Right now we are set for October 5-14, 2012. Not sure if I am going to put up a ticker yet, or not!

Elin, you HAVE to put up a ticker. That is part of the fun and the required first step for all planning to begin.

How are you and Bob doing? I hope you are enjoying the beautiful autumn back there. We get autumn, but not like the east does. It is my favorite time of year...or as a cartoon I saw yesterday said "My favorite time of year is what ever time it is now."

That will be a half and half vacation. I want to go to the big island first, stay at the Volcano House for one night and in Kona for the rest. Then go to Aulani and relax at the resort. We'll do that in the spring and then go to WDW for F&W in the Fall, but this is all 2013!

We visit my folks at Thanksgiving and they visit my sister for Christmas, so that's why we're going to Vegas. Why not go to Atlantic city for one? It's closer to you than Vegas.

We were talking about that but Atlantic City is too cold...

Oh, I have gotten caught before! Now I either have to quickly change the screen before they get close enough to see that I'm not working, or sometimes I just leave it up and hope maybe they won't notice

I think they notice more when you change it as soon as the walk by, than if you just leave it there...

Just checking in, just made our reservations for Dec 15-21. This will be our first stay at AKL. 2 standard rooms. Was hoping to upgrade to savannah view rooms but none are available with free dining, oh well. Worth the upgrade to pool view rooms? I don't think so but maybe an AKL veteran can help.

Machu Picchu!!! That is definitely on my bucket list. Here I was getting very sad that you had to wait a year until your next vacation to the F & W, but you guys already have a fabulous trip in the works That is going to be amazing

In regards to the computer and DIS, I am still trying to master the art of stealth

....that's because, if you DID drive more than a 1/2 hour, you'd BE IN A DIFFERENT STATE!

Sad but true Today though I think we were invaded by NJ. I have never seen so many NJ plates outside of NJ. Did you kick them all out

And Southern Californians have to drive at least half an hour to get anywhere and we don't even leave the county!

I know we are too spoiled here. I always realize that when we vacation in Maine as it takes an hour to get anywhere.

so now we need something non Disney!

We loved Grand Californian, so much so that I rang Member Services to book another stay while we were still there. We are going back from May 14th to 18th next year.

Dh wants to someday go to DL and stay at the Grand Californian because it looks so beautiful.

The pool view is great but any room at AKL will be fine and there are many viewing locations for the animals throughout the resort.

With the decorations and the animals it will be great.

Agree with miprender you can find viewing locations all over there is lots of fun things to do in and around the resorts.

ha-ha... Don't be sad I promise we are off doing something all the time....

We are cruising for two weeks in Feb to the Caribbean to get out fo the cold for awhile... May is Machu Picchu, October is F&W and visiting family I call it the staying in the will trip we, visit friends and family in Ok and Tx for 2 weeks.

Then I have about a half dozen business trips a year. I will be in Orlando 4 times next year, Colorado, San Diego and even a trip to Canada...

David is not happy about the work trips but he understands.

Yep, I have heard that it's the same architect. WL is a grand place I will admit, we had lunch there once. I just really love the animals at AKL. I could sit and watch them for hours. I'm sure I'll get to WL to stay one of these days since I must visit all the DVC properties. Maybe I'll plan on a split stay so I can still get my AKL magic

I was thinking of doing the split stay this time, but I just can't get a good rate at WL. Oh well. It'll be good for me to branch out again. I did CSR for a conference last year, but I really missed having the balcony. So I doubt I'll do that again. Guess if it is any resort that I try it should be AKL!!

I was thinking of doing the split stay this time, but I just can't get a good rate at WL. Oh well. It'll be good for me to branch out again. I did CSR for a conference last year, but I really missed having the balcony. So I doubt I'll do that again. Guess if it is any resort that I try it should be AKL!!

I have only stayed once at WL on our honeymoon way back in '96 but it was always our favorite resort until we stayed at AKL so I don't think you will be disappointed.

If you like WL you should love AKL. The rooms at AKL are much nicer.

I did enjoy CSR, but I don't think we had experienced a balcony before that so I didn't know what I was missing. Bummer you couldn't find a good deal at WL, but rest assured, AKL is wonderful

So I have a question for you AKV experts. Studio Value rooms have different views & there's a chance you can luck out and get a pool view or even better, an SV correct? That's what I've read elsewhere but I figured I'd ask the experts to confirm.
