Is DVC right for us?

Or, better yet, just pay cash for your weekends.

I think the OP was looking at mainly going on weekends. That would kind of defeat the purpose of purchasing DVC points.

Just wanted to say thanks for all of the great information! To answer some of the questions, we're typically at Disney in January for 4-5 nights, May for 2-4 nights, and again in September or October for 2-4 nights.

While our trips almost always include a Friday or Saturday night, it actually looks like DVC might be a good option for us. We're still weighing our Pros and Cons though, so please let me know if you have anything else to add! Thanks again!

Review very carefully as I doubt you can justify a DVC purchase for mostly long weekends, even if only one weekend night per trip.

We are seasonal pass holders as well and have taken lots of short trips in the past under Fl Res rates as well. The biggest selling point for us was that we NEED a larger room than a standard hotel room because we have two very small children. We have found we need extra space and extra rooms for the kids to sleep in so we don't go to bed at 8pm or 9pm. Even though I probably should at times!
We wanted to buy for years, but in the past it would have been a financial burden. That changed over the past few years. So, we bought in when the F&F promo was going on a few months back and got what I think was a great deal. If it weighs heavily on you financially, DVC may not be a good option for you.
Yes others can spend what we pay in dues for a year to spend a week at a value resort...and I have stayed at a value once. Once. We are creating wonderful lifetime memories for ourselves and our children, and that is invaluable to me.
All this and I have not even taken our first trip home yet!

Good luck in making your decision. :cloud9:
