Is being gay a lifestyle choice?

Sexual orientation is NOT a choice. I have never heard of someone choosing whether or not they would be physically attracted to someone. Acting on those feelings is voluntary, but gay and lesbian people are just as entitled to love, sex, and happiness as their heterosexual counterparts.

And those lucky bi-sexuals have the pick of 100% of the adult population. Nice life-style choice (or is it multiple-choice). :sad2:

Are bisexuals lucky? I find that they are among the most misunderstood and mistrusted groups in society. I have heard people say that bisexuals are sex addicts, repressed homosexuals, mislabeled, untrustworthy, incpabale of commitment, etc. Many people even claim that bisexuality does not exist. I disagree with that and have known two women who seemed to be equally attracted to both genders. I have never met a bisexual man, but I'm sure that they are out there.

This cultural shift will be the sea change of my generation. Like racism two generations ago, like miscagenation and feminism one generation ago ... it will not be societally acceptable in America to discriminate against gays. I think by 2020, we will look back on these laws banning gay marriage and visibly flinch.

Society changes slowly, and it's painful for some. But take faith in this: my mother worked as a legal secretary at 25. It was 1977. He boss referred to her breasts as "Grapefruits" and they had no female associates, much less partners. Fast forward. I just got promoted to divisional vice president in a very male-dominated sector of banking. I'm 25.
The world changes and it's driven by those who chafe against constraints (like the women who broke through the glass ceiling). Keep chafing against discrimination against gays, and society will eventually follow.

So I suppose they get to chose from either gender because that is who they are? How convenient. How sad.

Would you be this way if it were your own child?

I think you are born gay or straight. You are born with the tendencies/attraction, but the choice comes into play when you choose to act on those tendencies.

So, I guess really it is BOTH a choice and something you are born with.

Bisexuals I am not sure about. I think some do choose to be bi or "switch teams"- such as straight women who get fed up with men and then choose to experiment with women.

I really don't care who sleeps with who as long as no one is getting hurt.

There's also asexuality, which most people don't even think about. There's such a thing of having no sexual desire/attraction to either gender. I think it could be both a choice and something you are born with too.

This logic gets very frayed when we think about heterosexuals, who then seem to be interpreted as "choosing to act on their tendencies."
Yes, everyone chooses to act on their tendencies, right? And that's why we have all these people who die virgins, because they don't act on their tendencies. ;)

Sexuality is within us. It's as natural as breathing.

Why would one of my children chose a bi-sexual life style??

If this tragedy happened, we would give her our full love and support and help her return to God's path -- the path where sex is between a married man and woman.

Was Jesus natural? As far as we know, he never had sex with anyone.

I'm sure gay animals are making a choice too!

No Jesus wasn't natural, he was God incarnate. Sorry to blow your argument!

Why would you try to change the way someone is?
It just drives me crazy. My DM says she cant stand it,it makes her sick.
I asked what she would do if my DSis baby were to be gay,she said I would cry and be heartbroke. Then she said she would try to talk him out of it?WTH,Like he would choose to be gay.I had to have a long discussion with her and finally pounded it into her head that he has no control over who he will fall in Love with. She now has a diffrent outlook on the situation :)

Thank you!! I have heard gay people say that bi's aren't really attracted to the same sex, that it is just for attention or selfishness, the same thing that is said by straights. I can tell you that who you are attracted to is not somthing you choose. It just is.

The way someone is??

If my child is choosing and immoral and self-destuctive path? -- Darn tootin' I would try to change my child.

Do you really think I would allow one of my children to head down that path?? How could I be any more irresponsible?? My wife and I would do all we could with our love and support to save our child -- and with God's help, we would succeed.
