Ok so as I have posted in the past one of my complaints withthe new FP+ is I do not have a smart phone so see time etc. and in past our FP disappeared often our AP don't work etc so I got thinking if I got an ipad mini would it work off wifi in parks? not cellphone power just plain old wifi... I know at the pools at Disney they tout wifi at pool not so much...got a ipad with cellular 3g service and some times that not so good either...
So my question is if I get the smaller ipad mini on sale at Best Buy this week could I use in the parks to access that super fun MDE app(sarcastic)
Not sure if anyone here can help, I am not too techie so if anyone know I would appreciate help. :goodvibes:goodvibes

In theory, yes, you should be fine. In practice, however; WiFi in the parks is hit and miss (performance-wise).

Is it worth it? Want an iPad Mini anyway? Feeling lucky? :thumbsup2

I didn't even know they had wifi in the parks! I've been to DLR tons of times, and never bothered to check. I'll have to check next time I'm there.

What about an iPod touch? Can be had for $199 and is iPhone sized and not as much of a breakage risk.

I am not sure if DLR parks so have WiFi for guests. I can't remember. WDW does for the MyDisney Experience app.

I was thinking that too I touch apple has a referb for 149, I have purchased a referb from them 2x already but Best buy has the mini for 199 too and I carry a backpack and am older so might like the bigger screen

shoot okay. that makes sense. i've gone a couple times this year and don't remember there being free wi-fi. dang, DLR needs to get wi-fi!

We take our iPad mini with us to the parks and have had good luck checking MDE and getting fp+.

Last week when we were down we had 6 iPhone's at EPCOT. All would connect to the system and be able to surf but mine and it is a newer one. Even my wife's who normally has wifi connection issues was OK. I turned it off and on then reset it several times. I even reset the network. Nothing worked. It worked everywhere else before and after including resort, room and other parks. We did not go back to EPCOT to see if it would work a different day. I contemplated signing it on manually which I'm sure would have worked but didn't want to go through the effort. It seemed to be related to trying to use MDE then it was messed up after that. I didn't delete MDE and try it that way which I suspect might have worked.

We've always used a itouch while at WDW and used the WiFi. This is the first year that the coverage has been really good. I'm actually quiet happy with how it is working out.
