Interval International Exchange confirmation to BCV question

Hi all, I'm almost afraid to ask! actually VERY afraid! We recently bought Interval International (sad long story, not the issue here) and as I've read in several posts, when we asked for a BCV exchange, we were laughed at and told it was impossible (well, possible but VERY-EXTREMELY-close-to-impossible-difficult!). Anyways, we hunted down II website and after a few days (checking at odd hours, between midnight and 5am) we found an exchange at BCV for October this year, just what we wanted. We inmediately completed the exchange and got a confirmation. We haven't paid the $95 fee yet. What concerns me is if this is final, can we count on it to make our plans? or has this still need to be approved by someone? could it be cancelled? I'm terrified to get my hopes up after all I've read (and needless to say, didn't read before we bought but as I already mentioned, not the issue here so please no flames because we didn't research in advance, we know it and beat ourselves for that enough, believe me!).

Thanks so much for your help!

Karla

It is almost final and is as final as it gets assuming you have the formal confirmation in your hands. There are stories with both exchange companies canceling confirmed exchanges usually when a week was deposited by mistake or a resort deposited weeks then didn't honor them or if a unit went out of service for some reason. I've had it happen once to me for Gatlinburg and know of a number of times for others. I've never heard of it from DVC and you know as much as you're likely going to know until you check in. I wouldn't worry and would make your plans.

We've done two II exchanges into DVC (one is coming up next week! :goodvibes ) and both times we have gotten our confirmation mailed to us within one week. If you haven't received it in that time, I'd call and make sure that II has the correct address and that they have sent the confirmation.

Another thing that I do to verify my exchange is to go online at II and pull up my exchange history. It will show you what week you deposited and what week you received in the exchange. I do a printscreen of that II page and place it with my confirmation for check in day. HTH!

Congratulations! doing the happy dance with you!

Thank you for your answers and well, I'm happy now! and can't wait to check-in day! :cool1: I do understand if something unexpected happens as you mentioned Dean, they could cancel the exchange but I won't worry about that and lets the planning begin!

Up until today, the exchange fee was only "authorized" but not charged to my credit card. This morning it actually shows in my credit card transactions. I'll guess we'll have to wait for the confirmation. Who sends it? since we bought with Interval in Guatemala I'd expect for them to send it? I've found that the local office representatives are not ver knowledgeable of the process! :scared1:

Rose, how can I check my exchange history? I don't know if this is how they setup our account but I find II website not very friendly nor complete. In the exchange option I can see two floating weeks on each of my home resorts and on the Planning section it shows the BCV resort name, check-in / check-out dates and weather. Is this what you mean?

Thanks!

Karla
PS Trust fellow Dis-ers to know the answers!

Sign on to II then look in the upper right corner and click on my transactions. For pending requests and units listed in your account click on exchange tab then there are links for deposit, check requests or see your units.

If you have the formal confirmation, can't you call DVC Member Services? The number is on the confirmation and is the one you call to pay the $95 fee, add the Dining Plan (if you want it), and/or add Magical Express.

Seems to me if MS has the reservation and takes your fee, you are in and shouldn't have anything to worry about. My opinion.

If anyone thinks differently, I hope he/she will post. I have never exchanged into DVC and am only going by what I have read on the various DVC Forums.

Thank you, I found the exchange information (had I learned how to READ I would've seen it before! :rolleyes1)

And yes, I have the formal confirmation. I finally got a hold of someone that told me so.

I still need to call to DVC and pay the 95 to arrange ME and the Dining Plan although we are not sure about that yet since our kids eat very little and it might not make sense for us but that's for anoher thread!

Thank you all!

Karla
