Hello,
I know it is early, but after much debate, we are going to settle in on going back to Disney next Spring Break, (we had considered going this year, but financially it makes more sense to wait - or so says my DH ;) ) We would like to get either a studio or a 1 BR at OKW or WLV from April 12-19. I have a couple of questions also. Which size unit would be best- our kids will be 12 and 7 (boy and girl). Could we get by with the studio? How much bigger (if any) are the OKW villas in comparison to the WLV? What are your opinions on each and is one easier to get a rental with? Thank you all so much. I look forward to hearing your thoughts.

The OKW Studios are slightly larger than the Wilderness. The difference might be in that the Wilderness studios have a sleeper sofa and a queen bed as opposed to the 2 queen beds in the OKW. Point requirements are about 25% lower in the OKW Resort (147 vs 181). In either case accommodations go more quickly during the Easter hoilday period than at any other time of the year so be prepared to have your arrangements in place so that your reservatiopn can be placed as soon as the 11th month priority window opens. I have points at both Resorts, let me know if I can help with your vaccation plans at Disney next April. docdds@aol.com

I would definately go with the 1BR, you will have more room that way. The villas at OKW are bigger than VWL, so if size is the only factor, I would stay at OKW. Other factors to consider are the themeing and the whole "OKW has a boring pool" issue. Disney's web site has some cool pics of the resorts and that may help you decide which woul be better for your family.

It looks like a two bedroom is what you need.

Are you planning for the kids to share a bed?

A two bedroom unit would give each kid their own bed.

I guess DVC has spoiled me, but I couldn't imagine spending a week at Disney in a studio with two kids.

Even the one bedroom isn't apropriate.

I just sent you an email KK - I'd DEFINITELY go with OKW for the spaciousness that the rooms offer and also DEFINITELY go with the 1 bedroom vs. the studio.

The children will be fine with one being on the sofa bed and one on the love seat couch. Why spend the extra money for a two bedroom when you DONT have to?

Good luck renting and try putting a advertisement on the TUG boards as well (don't know the link - but someone here will post it if you ask) - that way if you want to get the points as reasonable as you can (i.e., probably around $8 or $9 for Easter Break) - you can advertise here and over there.

I'd go with the GRAND VILLA!!!
This way you could each have you own personal bed room, each would also have your own personal toilet, there are two eating areas and if you plan it right you wouldn't have to see each other at all.

:D ;)
Don't let anyone talk you into getting more than you need. We are a family of 4 and stay in a studio sometimes and one bedroom others. We get the studio when we are going to go into the parks often. We spend about 9 hours a day in the room 6-7 of which are sleeping. We get the one bedroom when we are going to do more relaxing around the hotel (usually our summer trip). We spend more time in the room and even prepare a meal or two. When we go on vacation I want to be close to my other family members. I want them right there with me. After coming "home" from the parks we all sit up in bed and talk about the days events and a host of other subjects. Kids grow up and want to get rid of thier parents much too quickly. I'll keep mine as close as possible for as long as possible... THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

Think about your own needs. Think about what you plan on doing while there. Think about how much $$$$ you want to spend on your accomodations. Some DVC owners are spoiled and forget what it was like getting real hotel rooms. A studio is just like a regular hotel room PLUS you have a fridge and microwave. If you would have only gotten one hotel room if staying non DVC, why then would you get a two bedroom just because your renting points.
As far as OKW vs VWL... In VWL you have a double pull out sofa in the studio and in OKW you have two queens in the studio. OKW has more square footage as far as floor space.
Whatever you decide, I hope you have a great trip.
