Inaugural Disney Wine&Dine**1/2 Marathon** Post Race Discussion!

OK, I am 763. Down to single digits to departure!

The ToT just had signs with times on it, as some have mentioned. Sort of mass chaos was more like it. I almost had to walk to the start line in the crowd, 9 minutes after the gun went off. At the Half in Jan I was in B and passed the start line in 30 seconds.

The finish line party map is up on the official race site. It looks like most of the countries booths will be open, but I don’t see any of the ride will be open, bummer. Sorry I don’t know how to post a link, but go check it out.

ETA: You beat me to it Todd.

I would call the number to see. Otherwise you are destined to a last minute visit at the expo for a trade. On the smaller events, Disney has not very good about allowing size trades early in the expo.

Where can I find this number??

I'm beginning to think running is a mental illness. :) In mile 12 on Sunday, I never wanted to run again. Now I'm plotting if I can PR in Orlando. popcorn::

I know what you mean, I thought doing a marathon might be fun but at about mile 10 this past weekend I began to think 26.2 might push me over the edge to the looney bin.

At least they got the X right;).

That is true, silver lining somewhere huh?? :upsidedow

One thing I would suggest NOT doing is backwards counting the miles. Mile 5 is an awesome place, if you're not thinking "8.1 more".

I have to say that I really appreciated the wave start in Philly. Wish Disney could do something like that.
Agreed.
All Disney half and full races are waved. Not like Competive's RNR but waved nonetheless. Well, last year's Princess was waves by corral. The question is open on the W&D.... I would bet that a wave is in order just to get folks through the first corner with few problems.
Having done both waves, Rock n Roll is by FAR superior. I think they had way less people in each corral. I very rarely had to zigzag around people in Philly. Granted the roads were probably much wider in parts, but Disney's start was like a literal stampede - and didnt' get much better for miles and miles!

By estimated time first for sure

:rotfl: Onemoremile has a tshirt that reads, "This Seemed Like A Good Idea Three Months Ago".

I wore that one for Disney in January! For Philly I wore "One Bad Mother Runner". My friends loved it - and I love One More Mile!

Agreed.

I agree that the RNR waves are much better. Disney seems to have locked in on the MCM wave model. I find folks get antsy having to wait so long between waves

Thanks for sharing!!! :goodvibes Everyone at my new job was really proud of me for working hard on my training (still slow though) and I am leaving so soon!! I have my home made shirt (which I am starting to think I might regret wearing :rotfl:) and I am starting to pack this week!!! The shirt I made is green with a lime green turtle who has mickey ears on and it says "slow and steady finishes the race" and the back says DISboards Shannon84 so please say hi if you see me :cutie:

I opened up weather.com to see the predicted weather and its thunderstorm clouds every day for the week I am there leading up to the race :scared1: I know it rains often in Florida (I lived in Orlando over 2007), but seeing a row of storm clouds was not what I was hoping for vacation :lmao:

Ideally it would be cloudy during the day to keep the Earth from getting too warm and then it would be clear at night to allow as much heat as possible to escape. I like having the weather in the mid to high 40's for a half but the forecasted 50's that night are better then I was expecting based on recent trends.

50's ! Where are you running? We will be lucky to be below 75 for this race.

Had to grab a chance to beat you at something, Frank.

That sounds like a very cute shirt.

I started (well almost finished) packing last night. I have what I plan to wear for the half in my carry on along with the waiver and my shoes. Is there any other things I should pack? Whether specifically in my carry on or in my checked bag?

I was wondering the same thing. I doubt we'll get the Great Lakes weather down in Orlando. :sad1:

For the Mickey's 5K, I'll be sporting "Finishing = Winning". And that's exactly the way I feel about it!

Oops, I was looking at the wrong zip code. Oh well, I could dream I guess.

Haha now that would be some great race weather!! I was hoping for sunny skies the week leading up to the race, because we will be down there vacationing at WDW, but it looks like "isolated thunderstorms" every day (which I guess should be expected in Orlando)..race day isnt updated on the weather report I peeked at because it is too far out.

Thank you :goodvibes It shrunk in the wash though, so its a wee bit tight :rotfl:

You put last minute packers like myself to shame!!! I am bringing all my race related items (including back up socks, etc) in my carry on, as well as any documents, and at least one change of clothing in case anything may happen to my checked bag. I just always make sure to have extra changes of clothing...and prepare for all types of weather just in case. I will have tank tops and sweatshirts packed...plus sunscreen I burn like crazy! Also when it comes to running races, I always bring a change of shoes for after the race so my feet can breath!! :thumbsup2 I should probably be asking you for packing tips :goodvibes

Bib #2916 here! Ugh my training has been so craptastic. Jerky work and school! Don't they know I have a race to try to finish? :rotfl:

Oh well. I think if I finish at 2:30 or less I'll be happy.
