Inaugural Disney Wine&Dine**1/2 Marathon** Post Race Discussion!

Thanks for the replies...It may sound silly but I have a picture of my dog who passed away shortly after I began my training (a beautiful Siberian husky named Miss Fitt Katie Scarlett, Scarlett for short) So you can probably guess where I got my Dis name from. I have always felt that she has been with me on this journey and I would like to honor her memory.

Aw, that's really nice! I love her name too. Sorry for your loss

You may surprise yourself. It won't be overnight but my first 5K (February 2005) took me over 30 minutes.

Wow Frank! Good to know. My first 5k was 33:49 in May 2007 and this past Saturday I ran one in 24:42 winning 1st place in my age group and the 4th woman overall.

Maybe one day I can get fast in a half! (Although I doubt I will ever get to Frank status!:rotfl:)

Are there still people who are trying to buy spaces to the race? If so we have two half-marathon spaces we need to get rid of :sad2:

We have come upon some very hard times (like so many others) and we have cancelled our trip. Financially it would be too much of a reach for us right now.

Can anyone give me any ideas as to how to find people who may need/want our spaces?

You're allowed to do this? Would it still be in your name?

Pretty sure you are allowed but they would have to run under our names...

You might want to try the MarathonGuide.com bulletin boards. They have people looking for bibs, I think. Not sure how legal it is, or if it puts the buyer or seller from getting banned from Disney races.

Usually it is not allowed (read the terms you agreed to when registering). If it is allowed there is usually a sanctioned way to transfer the registration to another runner so their name is on the books instead of yours.

People still do it but they will need to have a copy of your driver's license and your signature on that form to get the packet. Hopefully you trust whomever you sell it to enough to provide them with those.

I do think they should allow you to transfer registration but most don't so you have to do it at your own risk. Some race directors monitor those boards and ebay and if they know your name or number they will deactivate the registration so when that person shows up they are told too bad so sad you shouldn't have done it.

The people who take our place would only need our signed waivers and a copy of our driver's licenses according to the guy I just spoke with from Disney Run.

Please, please everyone, let us know if you know anyone who would like to race as Meredith and Bob Maki!! It breaks my heart for this to happen at the last second. My husband has trained so hard for all this but within the last week we are down a job, a car, and have a baby nephew in the NICU out of state...ugh life :sad2:

Historically this has not been allowed by Disney. But I did note that the mouse is changing position on the website earlier. I am surprised the mouse did not want to sell them theirselves to the waiting list.

Anyway, sorry to hear of your news.

I'm sorry things are so hard right now. Sending good thoughts that your nephew is out of the icu soon.:goodvibes

We are still in the 90s here, so I feel like we are adequately prepared to run in Florida next week.:thumbsup2 I'm actually hoping it's a little cooler as it was 98 here yesterday. When we ran at around 7pm it was still 94. This is not normal for our area, but the entire summer has been way above normal, so what can you do? I'm starting to get excited about our trip, but I'm also stressing out, because I feel very disorganized. My latest fear is that I'm going to take the wrong running shoes. Has anyone looked at a long range forecast yet?

low to mid 60's as lows. Meaning low 70's at race time I would think.... depending on clud cover, etc. As usual we see the weather about 3 days pre-Disney.

I have Circle of Life on my iPod...it's inspiring! Last week it popped up as the first song when I turned it on for my long run...very nice to start out to!

Such a cute shirt! You are way more talented at drawing than I could ever be.

My Disney playlist includes Wishes, Illuminations (reflections of earth version), Spectromagic (the full 14 minute version), Remember The Magic Parade (from 25th anniversary - again full parade version) and Tapestry of Nations. I find Tapestry of Nations and Illuminations to be very relaxing. And the others just make me smile.

I also like Ever Ever After from Enchanted.

My personal favorite--Theme song to pirate:Pirates of the Carribean!!pirate: It's really gets me past those tough spots for some reason. Great, now it's stuck in my head. Theme to Indiana Jones is a good one too. It magically came on my iPod shuffle just as I was coming onto Main St. at the Princess, then again near the finish. It was hilarious! Felt like I was really accomplishing an adventure.:lmao:

I think this is my favorite post on any of the threads so far! :lmao:

How in the world to we fit it in???? Work, kids, household stuff :surfweb:
I've been taking an hour of vacation time from work every other day just to get some training in!
